Old Billingsgate Garden pocket park | London, UK with Jackson Braden & Jingwei Cao 2022-2023 | ARC 408 | Prof. Amber Bartosh & Prof. Vanessa Lastrucci
The Old Billingsgate Building is a Victorian Grade II building in London facing the Thames River. The building currently operates as an event venue, isolated from public life and acting as a barrier to the waterfront. This project aims to reintegrate the building into public life while enhancing its current function. The west half of the building is carved out and converted into a garden acting as a corridor to the waterfront. The building's riverside plaza is also redesigned to reflect the change within the building.
A base model of the existing building was provided by my colleagues as part of assigned site research. All images shown have been produced primarily by myself, unless otherwise stated. The project has been further edited by myself post-semester.

Old Billingsgate Garden
existing building plan and section drawn in collaboration with Jackson Braden
A portion of the arcade on the street-side facade is abstracted to signal the garden's entrance. This new arcade is then duplicated and dispersed into the garden in the direction of travel toward the river. Planters placed throughout the garden create opportunities for engagement in the direction of the building interior, perpendicular to the path of travel. The central bay of the existing building is also replaced with a nave which acts as an adaptable interface between the garden and the existing event space.

Plant Church community greenhouse | Syracuse, NY
2020 | ARC 207 | Prof. Joseph Godlewski
Focusing on the theme of justice, Plant Church is a response to Syracuse’s past and present. According to Alana Semuels’ The Atlantic article “How to Decimate A City," a former resident of the 15th Ward Clarence “Junie” Dunham once noted a fondness for Wilson Park, a space around which a close-knit community socialized. This project hopes to restore such a place of gathering while doubling an educational (according to the prescribed program) community space through the lens of health through food.

HANGING HOME microhome | Bahar Preserve, NY with Maya Simms, Matteo Ryan, Rui Cao, and Ruoxi Li
2020 | ARC 222 | Prof. Daekwon Park | TA. Ruwaida Albawab
This microhome is situated atop a cliff over a small waterfall. The living and sleeping areas are separated vertically, linked together by a spiral staircase, integrating the vertical nature of the site into the living experience. ARC222 was my formal introduction to architecutral details, and the primary exercise of this project was centered around the design of a steel-framed structure that might plausibly support the building on an unorthodox site, along with the accompanying enclosure details. The design and 3D modelling was a collaborative process.

A tectonic analysis of Nest We Grow shown through isometrics. More than a simple study of construction, a tectonic analysis seeks to highlight the gesture and formal expression of the precedent.

Hybridization
We Grow |
Upon completion of the analyses, students were to share their models and drawings with a partner, from which each student was to produce a hybrid of them and their partner's precedents on an individual basis. Shown below is my hybrid of Nest We Grow and Studio Muoto's Public Condenser, which was studied by my colleague Jackson Braden.

Emerged Form mid-sized winery | Carneros Valley, CA
2021 | ARC 208 | Prof. Timothy Stenson
This project for a Winery in Carneros Valley places an emphasis on formal integration into an existent hill with a specialized program. The production and visitor sequences exist alongside the other and exhibit distinct spatial directionalites; the former appears more linear and tunneled while the latter extends perpendicularly along its path. The winery emerges from a prominent mound and extends its silhouette while framing, with the existing trees, a vineyard garden.

Sharing Space music learning center | Syracuse, NY
2020 | ARC 207 | Prof. Joseph Godlewski
The concept of sharing is adopted as a response to the costs traditionally associated with music education in light of the financial disadvantages facing students of the area. Thus the project sought to embody and promote sharing. The derived organization was that of the individual against the collective, where individual cell-like classrooms are contained in a fluid shell that links all the parts together. The individual rooms are humbly scaled in anticipation of more informal, smaller-scale but more frequent sharing to take place. These rooms are “arranged along” three programmatic blocks: the cafe, the library, and the auditorium. Each enables different modes of sharing, but the open connections between them recognizes the fluidity of these modes and affinities.

Chester Terrace Facade Model foamcore, 1/20
with Dylan Fromm & Yixing Liu
2022 | ARC 561 | Prof. Amber Bartosh & Prof. Davide Sacconi
This is a foamcore model of the Chester Terrace Facade. Efforts were made to accurately model the thickness of the walls, which express the characteristics of mass essential to the experience of the facade. I was primarily responsible for designing the model, which involved creating a digital model of the terrace and approximating its shape with standard foamcore thicknesses. My constribution towards the physical construction of the model mostly consisted of structural work.
