YES.
Have you ever wondered if there’s such thing as a perfect job? If so, the answer is yes. And even if you’ve never wondered that before, the answer still happens to be yes! Because yes, there is such thing as a perfect job. I’m sure at this point it will come as no surprise (due to the title of this book, obviously giving away what this book is about) but the perfect job is not one that requires years and years of education. It’s not one that is highly competitive to get into, nor that requires weeks and weeks of training in order to feel comfortable. Rather, the perfect job is waiting for you just down the street at your local pizzeria. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, (or rather Brock, because I don’t expect anyone else to read this. Well, I may send it to my parents who I often feel are my biggest fans but I guess it will depend on how this turns out) but as I was saying ladies and gentlemen, the best job, the perfect job, and the job you have all been waiting to hear about is without any further ado, PIZZA DELIVERING.

Say Cheese!
And maybe add some pepperoni on that as well One of the best parts of being a pizza delivery driver is that everyone loves you. Nobody opens the door to a pizza delivery driver and thinks “ah darn, not the pizza man”. Even if you’re running late, showing up at their door with a pizza is exactly what will cheer them up. Seeing the smiles of customers at every delivery is one of the great rewards of the job. But how can you make them have an even better experience? It’s simple, just smile! Yes, customers are mostly excited about the pizza but they love to see an employee that’s just as excited about their job. Few things are better than opening your front door to a warm pizza and a smiling delivery driver. Don’t forget, this is one of the best ways to increase your tips as well. However, don’t stop there! Smiling at your customers is the first step but show those pearly whites to every4

one out there! Smile at your coworkers when you enter the store. Smile at the strangers next to you at the red light. Smile at the guy riding his bike, the grandma walking her dog, the kids playing hopscotch. While you’re at it, you might as well smile at the dog being walked by the grandma, the birds in the trees, the cows in the field. Smile at everyone you can! Great for pizza business, but it also just makes life better in general. Why don’t you give it a try!

Jam Time
You can’t be a good delivery driver if you don’t have a killer playlist to Let’s be honest, what’s better than cruising around town, delivering happiness straight to people’s doorsteps while blasting your favorite tunes the whole time? Not much, expecially when you get paid for it. So obviously in order to do this, you have to have a slapping playlist to make it worth your time. This playlist can include whatever you want, 80’s rock, broadway hits, 2000’s boy bands, smooth jazz. The key is that it just has to have you grooving in your car. This playlist should get you so hyped to go to work that you show up 15 minutes early (and for a pizza delivery job, that’s saying something). This playlist should have you bobbing your head in the car so much that the cars around you are tempted to quit their summer sales and instagram influencer jobs to become a delivery driver. That’s how good your playlist needs to be. 6

It especially helps if you fill it with songs you know all the lyrics to so you can belt them very badly at the top of your lungs while you cruise 5 miles under the speed limit down mainstreet. Yet even if you don’t know all the lyrics, no worries because spending hours driving around each week is the perfect opportunity to finally learn them all. The lyrics, the harmony, the epic guitar solo followed by the totally out of your range ending note. You might as well go on American Idol at the end of all of this, yet not even that would be able to pull you away from your pizza delivery job. So before you show up to work at your local pizzeria, remember to bring your rocking tunes!

Bon Apetit
You can’t expect to deliver pizzas all day without eating some yourself. I always find it funny when the conversation goes like this while delivering pizzasMe: Enjoy the pizza! Customer: You too! Me thinking to myself: How does he know I eat the extra pizzas in the back when business is slow? Anyways, there is a purpose to all of this! You can’t expect to fully help your customers if you have not tried the pizzas yourself! Often times the customers will ask for recommendations or will ask if the new Jalepeno Rolls or Papadillas are really as good as they seem in all the advertisements. So you must be ready to tell them the truth, YES the garlic parmesan crust

is worth the extra $1 and no, anchovies do not belong on pizza (or anything for that matter). It’s even easier with an employee discount to eat as many pizzas as you want, and we all know your friends would be more than willing to help you try out all the different kinds of pizzas. So don’t hesitate, eat as much as you can so you can truly be a pizza expect and come on. It’s pizza so nobody could ever eat too much.

Embrace Everthing Especially the awkward moments
Every job has their ups and downs, pros and cons. And every job has to some extent their awkward moments. However I strongly believe that the awkward moments as a delivery driver are some of the best. Knock on the wrong house? If you laugh it off, they’ll laugh it off. And it might even remind them how good the smell of pizza is to the point they’ll order their own! Get chased by a dog? Licked by a dog? Jumped on by a dog? Who knew there were so many dogs that love pizza?? Once again, laugh it off. The owners might laugh, might feel bad, might increase your tip as well! Those are more frequent moments that happen but to be honest, anything can be happen. Maybe you drive into a mud pit and get stuck to the point you need to finish the delivery on foot. Maybe your car dies and you need the help of strangers (soon to be friends) 10

to save the day so you can continue delivery pizzas. Maybe a deer runs into to the side of your car, leaving a huge dent and a dead deer. Those situations might need a bit more... help, but as always, laugh it off! And continue on your way. Otherwise, you will always be stressed or worried or anxious wondering what can go wrong next. Rather, embrace it, laugh it off, and save these moments as stories to tell to your friends and family!

Kindness Above All This should probably be the first step, but here we are!
KINDNESS! What a wonderful thing! Probably one of the most important things to ever exist, not only in pizza business but everywhere. There are many situations that can be difficult and hard to handle and certain customers that are tricky to please. When these come along, there is no better answer than kindness. Although you might be right, and the customer is completely wrong, you are not there to prove that. You are there to make them happy, and that is done through kindness and consideration. You might not be able to fix all problems or resolve all concerns but cusomers will leave feeling a lot bettter if they have been treated with kindness. But kindness is not just for the difficult moments and concerned customers but for everyone. Just as it is with smiling, kindness is for your coworkers, your managers, your customers and anyone else you

come in contact with while working. Kindness can cheer people up (almost) as much as pizza and can turn someone’s day from bad to good or from good to great just like that. And not only will it help others, but you yourself will feel so much better after treating people with kindness rather than being rude or impolite. Kindness is the key!

Pizza Style
Fashionably on time Let’s talk about fashion, both kinds. The first is as mentioned above- fashionably on time. As a pizza delivery driver, your number one priority is to deliver the pizza ON TIME. Obviously you still need to be responsible, take the time to make a good pizza, don’t speed (for safety’s sake!!) but your main focus should be getting that delicious pizza to that hungry customer as soon as possible! That one’s simple. Be on time. The next part of fashion is just that-fashion! You may be wondering what this has to do with delivering pizza. Good question, let me explain. You show up to your first day of work and they hand you some dinky tshirt with a cheesy company slogan on it along with a tacky visor (that’s only tacky because it’s your work uniform) and you think to yourself “oh boy, I have to wear this 20+ hours each week?” Well let me tell you, that doesn’t have to be your reaction. As a pizza delivery driver, you are most often in your car and outside while working rather than in the store. You deliver in the snow, the rain, the sun, any weather because

there’s never a bad time to order pizza. Sometimes you need to stay warm, sometimes you need to block the sun from your eyes. Basically what I’m saying is HAVE FUN with your pizza uniform! It’s blizzarding? Throw on your leopord print fur coat. The sun is too blinding? Grab your favorite pair of shades to rock while driving through the sun. Cold? Add layers! Turtlenecks under the tshirt, tights under ripped jeans, your classic denim jacket. Throw your hair up in your scrunchie and while you’re at it, put on your favorite eyeshadow and mascara. Work doesn’t have to be place you go just to feel not well dressed. Personalize your uniform to be something you LOVE! Burnt orange corduroy pants, denim bellbottoms, cute socks. Whatever you want! Yes this may seem like it’s more directed at ladies than men... well sorry guys, I don’t have much fashion advice to offer you but cool socks and shades are never a bad idea. You know pizza places are the least strict about uniforms because we’re just here to delivery yummy pizza to our favorite customers!

GPS
(Great Pizza Service) Great Pizza Service involves delivering quickly and accurately. Sometimes that’s harder than you might think. After much research and trial and error, it is proven that neither google maps nor apple maps is completely accurate. This requires you to double check on occassion the address in both places if one of them seems to be struggling to find it. Often times, one application might say it takes 14 hours and 28 minutes to arrive at your destination when in reality its 5 minutes away but you’ll only know that by trying the other app! I would definitely recommend getting a phone holder of sorts, either one that sticks on your windshield or your dashboard just so it makes it easier to navigate the roads. However I would not recommend changing your navigator to speak in a foreign language in hopes to learn the language. That’s what Duolingo is for, not your GPS helping you deliver pizzas. Last bit of advice for navigating, try to memorize the roads and houses as much as you can, making future deliveries much more easy. Yes, you may still get lost every so often but don’t be afraid to call the customer to ask for more directions. They love to help, especially if it means they get their pizza faster!
