SWAY CHILDEN ROCK CHAIR The image of this design came from “sway”, from local Kavalan people in Yilan. The look of “sway” is from the idea of crescent; it represents matrilineality and the scenario of a mother holding her baby with arms. The scenario that “sway” is creating, is to infuse the feeling of “mother”, in mother language of Kavalan, “Tina” into the rocking chair as giving it a new life with an emotional way, so when children are riding on it they can enjoy the happiness from it.

CULTURE FORM Bamboo, one of the "Four Gentlemen" (bamboo, orchid, plum blossom and chr ysanthemum), plays such an important role in traditional Chinese culture that it is even regarded as a behavior model of the gentleman. Countless poems praising bamboo written by ancient Chinese poets are actually metaphorically about people who exhibited these characteristics. In Japan, a bamboo forest sometimes surrounds a Shinto shrine as part of a sacred barrier against evil.

Many Buddhist temples also have bamboo groves. With hacking, processing, and reproducing the wood into a variety of utensils, we also encounter the materials from life to death

LIFE ASSOCIATION T h e d i s t i n c t i ve te r r a i n embraced by the m o u n t a i n s f ro m t h r e e different directions in Yilan has created the fecund alluvial plain in the center of the county as well as its beautiful natural landscape and local culture.

HOME HOME FAMILY SMALL SOFA This design combines the impression and loadbearing concept of “turtle” with the seat with an abstract but also specific way. It looks mellow and full; its seat part can be placed inside. The partial tune of turtle “Gui” in Chinese has dual meanings like “returning home or nature”.This make the design a partner that we can slow down and get close to nature.

MATRIAL COLOR As one of the four benevolent animals in the eastern world, the symbol of tur tle increases the phenomenon of luck to our lives. Therefore if we merge the image of tur tle into the design of house ware, we can extend the cultural spirit handed down by old ancestor while using these house wares.

30

This design plans to recall people’s awareness of living by the trait “slow”from turtles. Therefore the study fo c u s e s t h e s e a t wa r e that can be placed in relax spaces as a house ware to remind people to slow down and get closer to the mother nature.

1. Legs are fixed by tenon and the design adopts a full organic way to add up similarity. 2. The seat part is decorated with diablement for t woven with three dimensional patterns and adopts a nature and earthy green tune to create a comfortable sensation.

This is "Taiwan Craft" class taught by ChengTsung. The goal is encourage to learn our local crafts by their hands, also try to invent something new base on the traditional wisdom beyond time. 1.learning traditional craft, using form, material and method to deconstruct the making process. 2. doing a lot of material experiment and try to find something that never be done. 3. transforming the discovery into a design, making a object.

FORM TRANS The spindle apparatus, or simply the spindle, is a network of microtubules (also called "spindle fibers") that forms within a dividing eukaryotic cell, both during mitosis and meiosis . Some of these microtubules attach to the cell walls, others attach to individual chromosomes at their kinetochores.

36

It's the spindle that pulls the chromosomes from the metaphase plate to the poles. The radiating microtubules of the spindle fo r m a s te r s — a s te r i s Greek for star. The two points where the spindle fibers converge are the centrosomes.

I wanted to release the restricted soul of bamboo material,to imitate flying clouds, blowing wind, forest and running water with the bamboo.Highly conceptual and made through a combination of manual craftsmanship (in the form of bamboo weaving) as well as machinery (for industrial production), it’s a piece that was designed to be ethereal, while also, Chen states, having a practical function. It is not only a ceiling light but a moving fluid piece of art, combining both sense and sensibility.

Background and Motive The pattern of “wine” resembles that of water in soft expression. But in spite of ”wine’s” soft outlook, the inner is filled with fierce fire. With dialect, wine deducts the story of itself. Particularly, in the level of philosophy, it is both feministic and chauvinistic, negative and positive, relaxation as well as tense, and cheerful as well as lamenting. Meanwhile, in the society nowadays, drinking wine has also become one of social approaches. Willing or not, for business schmooze or recreation, drinking wine is a kind of socialization for maintenance of men’s affections.

Interpretation x Association

Design Point

1. T h e m o d e l i n g s t y l e m u s t b e eye catching, and express the feelings to be delivered distinctly and definitely. And, the sixth sense (intuition) is induced under Five Senses, so different audience can interpret divergent implications to embody the complexity of wine’s personality.

User put down the horizontal pole to fix the pad or cell phone.Plastic plate combined with backplane, it is disassemble.Cup holders be placed two cups or hanged something by user. Table has places of a cup and tableware for dining. Table change into declining shelf which has 15 degree as a unit between 0~60 degree. Declining shelf became a better viewing angle for users.

2.To remove the complicated Lenovo body, simplify the modeling style or design the appearance for the user to exert with care. 3.To create an opposite modeling style— t h e b a s e a n d b ot t l e s e e m l i ke t wo geometric shapes that are unlikely to exist—slightly tense, doubtful, and curious, and making the user feel like exploring true inner quality (wine).

58

57

D r i n k i n g w a te r i s a s o c i a l activity with false, sincere, cheer ful characters melted together and interacting with one another. Although people have different personalities, they wear a variety of masks to coordinate with others under social activities. The lower part of the metal plating mirror that reflects the surrounding environment represents man after socialization. As for the upper part, it symbolizes the real self after drinking wine—

58

by instilling your real self is into the framework of society, it becomes exactly the YOU in the eye of the world. On the other hand, the creator geometrizes the goblet and removes the redundant parts. The piercingly chilly style was set off with the metal to get along with glass, which resembles the forever elegant 007 intelligencer.

59

For the mellower and rounder shape, it is a kind of personality with fierce, sharp fire in the inner part for formation of the dual personality, which thus generates an unstable sense. The circular wine container gets along with the somewhat slender lower part, so that the user has the sense of prudence in drinking liquid inside. And, with integration of the modeling style’s implication with functionality, the inner metal tube was sharped at the oblique angle,

60

while seams are made on the external shell for air to ventilate t h ro u g h t h e c o n t a i n e r a n d avoid the candle fire to burn the drinker’s face. Just because of this oblique angle, the user can appreciate fire and light inside. This design delivers the message that even perfect people will generate emotions in their heart, so people had better not judge others from the superficial outlook.

COMPANION SCENARIO NIGHT LIGHT The concept originated from different stone components of pebble. Through water flushing and eroding on it, the abrasion leaves natural and separately colored lines, and these lines gave the pebble different traits and charms. Through the trait of marginal ray from acryl, I impersonate the lines of pebble and combine it with the “magnetic starting switch” technique. When the stones touch the other stones, then acryl lines will light up.
