Resolution: Support the campaign "Don't play with the dictator"
Adopted at the YEPP Seminar in Madrid on 28-29th September 2012 Recognising: •
That Belarus has been given the responsibility of hosting the 2014 ice hockey world championship by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), and that this event will be used by Europe’s last dictatorship to the advantage of the regime.

That Belarus is a gross violator of basic human rights, and it is the responsibility of the European community to take action and speak out against such a regime, to ensure the human rights of all people.

That many non-governmental organisations working in Belarus have started a joint campaign named “Don’t play with the dictator” (www.minsk2014.no) which seeks to influence the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to suspend its plan to hold the 2014 IIHF World Championships in Belarus.
Acknowledging: •
That holding the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Belarus would support and legitimise a regime which violates the human rights of the people of Belarus.
YEPP calls on: •
YEPP supports the campaign “Don’t play with the dictator” (www.minsk2014.no) which ask the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to suspend its plans to hold the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Belarus.
