Yurgos, the guitar player and vocalist is known for being one of the best guitar players in the scene. Not only this, but he plays an active part in recording his band. His ability to tastefully take influence from Midwestern emo and beyond creates the foundation of the band.
Will, better known as Willy J, is a drumming powerhouse who is responsible for making the band's shows explode. In his playing, you can always count on tasteful cymbal work combined with bouncy snare and kick playing to really make a show pop off. Often, their shows are determined by him; fans of the band regularly note how Will is consistently incredibly intense during the sets, but as this happens, you can catch some of the biggest and most genuine smiles coming from his at key moments. This invaluable energy of his is contagious.
Dusty, the bassist and another vocalist is the glue of the band. While Yurgos is furiously making his way up and down the fretboard, Will making audiences question if his cymbals are going to make it to the end of the set, Dusty can be found keeping the band tight. Dusty's bass playing hails straight from punk, and wears the influence on his sleeve.
The three of them have found a middle, a sweet spot, musically and aesthetically. They describe themselves as "three young street dwellers who aspire to create and deliver the most excellent of shitty music" and they deliver. While they've only dropped three tracks on Bandcamp, you'll find yourself coming back again and again.
RIP SLPL.
