Massachusettes Band Spotlight // Hugh's Local Favorites
by Hugh Schmidt
Corey Ames is a folk/indie garbage singer/songwriter who has a knack for writing super catchy songs that are full of thoughtful and relatable lyrics. He's super awesome and his new EP is super inspiring.

Sarcasm is a post-hardcore band with repetitive and heavy as fuck riffs, with vocals contributed by all three members, Nick (drums), James (bass), and Chloe (guitar).

Dazey & The Scouts released literally the sickest EP out of Boston this year. It has the best queercore/old school punk vibe and it's filled with great hooks and hilarious lyrics. It's mad catchy and has infinite replay value.

Deathdealer is unfortunately the only skramz band I'm familiar with currently active in the Boston area, but I am fortunate enough to have shared a bill with them. They're a sick two piece with both members handling vocal duties in additions to respective drums and bass. Their latest release is awesome and reflects their unique style of grindy skramz with yelpy vocals and sing-a-long choruses.

The Rough Cuts, a garage-punk band from Fitchburg released an EP entitled "Cellar Inheritance" which is a throttling collection of fuzzed out riffage with classic reverb drenched vocals. They freaking kill it live so I would highly recommend catching them if you ever come through.
