When I was first moved to Tacoma, I was pretty worried about how active of a scene there was. The multitude of articles lamenting its death certainly weren't helping. Luckily, Real Art Tacoma quelled a lot of artists, from bigger bands like Thou and Comeback Kid to smaller local and touring acts. All-ages venues are so hard to come by, let alone ones that are that dedicated to the community they're reliant on. It's a decently sized, 300 capacity venue that has shows on the stage or on the floor to accommodate different sizes and kinds of bands. They're constantly having shows, from hip-hop to folk, indie rock to hardcore. It's a really inclusive space that's easy to volunteer at, and the staff are really nice. It's in a really convenient location for touring bands coming through because it's right in between Portland and Seattle. Iv'e seen some really great shows there and there are a lot of really good ones coming up! Hit them up for booking and by all means if you're in the area get to the gig!
