To whom it may concern, Yesul (Elly) Cho worked under my supervision, at Arquitectonica, from January 2015 through April 2015, as part of a co-op work term from the University of Waterloo. During her time at Arquitectonica, Elly has shown outstanding skill and problem solving abilities, initiative and enthusiasm, and the flexibility to approach a diverse set of work. Elly’s primarily worked on the 41 Tehama project team, where she assisted the project team with Revit (BIM) 3D-modeling, 2D architectural Revit details, AutoCad drawings, proposal preparation utilizing Adobe Creative Suite software, product and material research, and finish selections. Elly was able to jump right in and work well with everyone on the project team and we enjoyed the short time she got to spend with our project team. Elly has a great attitude every day and was willing to take on new tasks and learn new software programs (Revit) to help the project team and move the project forward. She is an organized and eloquent individual with a good head on her shoulders. Elly is a great communicator and easy to get along with. Elly is efficient, yet maintains high standards for quality and accuracy in work. She is hard-working and when provided with clear direction, she is capable of working with minimal supervision. On top of that, she was punctual and always had a positive work ethic. With more time and experience working on details and understanding the technical issues related to developing a building, Elly could become a very successful architect. I would highly recommend Elly as an addition to any project team as I am confident that she has the intelligence, work ethic and communications skills to add value to any project team. Please do not hesitate to contact me to further discuss her time on our project team.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Farrell Senior Associate, Arquitectonica

LIFT Fall 2015
LIFT 2A Design Studio Professor : Adrian Blackwell Type : Community Centre Site : Cambridge , Ontario Lift focuses on the relationship of the natural world and the city we live in. The community center strives to integrate the environment to our urban neighborhood by physically creating a hybrid of park and city in one structure. By raising the park above, the city can fit under, which allows the city and park to exist in uniformity. Furthermore, a courtyard is pushed down from the roof to the very bottom floor in order to provide lighting for the interior and also further strengthening the bond between nature and man made. The floor slabs around the courtyard are consisted of one plane that wraps around the interior courtyard, unifying the three floors together.

3. 2. 1. Current site consists of a plain field adjacent to schools, residential areas, and public grounds.
The site is lifted creating a roof, while providing shade to the open field.
Programs are formed and stacked accordingly. Circulation routes are created to connect programs. A continuous plane is formed from the circulation. Then the buildings are under the roof.

MODERN LOFT 1B Design Studio Professor : Donald McKay Type : Mid rise Residential Site : Toronto , Ontario Modern Loft is a medium density apartment located off of St.Clair Avenue in Toronto. Using the empty lots left from other developments, the building was designed to accommodate the future growth and population of the street. Green spaces were also created within the communal glass boxes to reestablish a relation to the surrounding natural environment.

In hopes to act as a medium between the school and the church, a library was placed to provide a space for children and families to find relief from the congestion of the city.
10
Each unit of the building has its own unique floor shape , while still keeping its open floor plan, providing a sense of freedom within the space. Additionally, large windows were designed to bring natural sunlight into the rooms.

ROBSON REDUX Spring 2015
ROBSON REDUX Competition Team : Bernette Oh, Andrew Type : Pavilion Site : Vancouver, British Columbia The competition was to design and public pop-up pavilion that happens every summer to provide the community a resting space within the busy street of Vancouver. Our proposal was a single table element that is grand, united, and continuous in form but adjusts to different users and activities. It aspires to produce an eye catching and approachable space, serving as a community hub bringing people together to chat, eat, lounge, wait, picnic, sketch, and study.

PORTABLE 2A Environmental Design Team : Sara Ibrahim Type : Portable Classroom Site : San Francisco, CA The primary goal was to design a portable classroom that will provide comfort, while achieving LEED requirements. The portable strives to take its site’s weather conditions and accordingly create passive heating and coolling . Solar panels were placed mainly on the south facade allowing the design to run on preserved energy. The Portable was designed in while taking considerations of a child-friendly space.

Indoor air is heated by carefully sealing gaps and fitting sheathing within the insulation to decrease infiltration rates. By maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, heat losses are reduced and inefficient heaters are not necessary. A solar water heater is also included in the design to eliminate water heaters which are inefficient. Photo voltaic solar systems is used on the sloped roof to collect sunlight and convert in into electricity for the portable. Over hangs are also included to prevent over heating during the summer.
