Inside this edition you can find a plentiful amount of information on what you can find in store, including a section on monthly garden tips. With knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand in store to help with advice or inspiration, complemented by the huge variety of stock available, you will be sure to find what you need for your upcoming garden and/or home projects. This edition also includes many different informative editorials and alongside you will find local businesses whose services may just be what you are looking for.
We have also launched a digital copy of the magazine, available to view on your smart phone instantly. Situated on the Birmingham Road just outside of Kidderminster, Hodgehill started from humble beginnings; selling tomatoes and cut flowers from a shed. We have come a long way since the 1930s and today we have a large Farm Shop, Garden Centre and Café. We are passionate about selling Local Produce. Supporting smaller growers, we know there is nothing better than tasting the first Asparagus or Strawberries of the Season.
We have a dedicated team of specialist staff; growing and selling only the best plants in our nursery and garden centre, creating and serving beautiful homecooked meals in our café or retailing the freshest local produce in our farm shop.
Farm Shop
Fresh Fruit & Vegetables
Our farm shop receives daily deliveries of only the highest quality fruits and vegetables. Our beautiful fresh produce changes as the seasons change as we source different locally grown produce, supporting independent growers nearby.
Beers, Ciders, Wines & Spirits
Our extensive range of local Beers, Ciders, Wine and Gin is ever growing and ever changing. ‘Essentials’ such as Bathams Bitter are always in stock.
Why not visit us on a weekend and try a sample or two as we often hold tastings.
Breads & Cakes
There’s no doubt that Kings Fayre Bread from Kinver is the best there is.
Delivered fresh every morning, Monday – Saturday, there’s nothing better than the smell of warm Fresh Bread, a staple from our Farm Shop.
Delicatessen
On our Delicatessen counter you can find a fantastic collection of freshly baked pastries, pies and sausage rolls alongside British cheeses and sliced meats. Paired with delicious chutneys and preserves you’ll find all you need to take your food to the next level. Don’t forget to try the weekend specials, prepared by our chefs.
Café
Our Café boasts a warm environment with high-quality traditional meals all prepared and cooked by our experienced team of Chefs.
As well as our Breakfast, Light Bites and Lunch offerings we’re very proud of our Seasonal Specials Menu which makes use of our Farm Shop to ensure the freshest seasonal produce is used. We also have a great selection of cakes and tray bakes all baked by our team onsite.
Hector
Our bespoke repurposed horsebox serves hot drinks and ice cream for you to enjoy in our outdoor seating area.
Grown at Hodgehill
We are super proud of every plant we grow at Hodgehill! We grow a huge variety of bedding plants for the spring and autumn, as well as plenty of herbaceous perennials and shrubs.
Every year the nursery team expand the range of plants we grow on site and introduce different varieties and colours to give every season a new feel.
We grow all of our plants in peat free compost and use recyclable pots to cause the least amount of impact on the environment.
Local Growers
At Hodgehill we don’t need to look very far for the best, so where we can, we like to support our local growers. Ornamental & fruit trees, acers, hellebores and cacti are just a few of the types of plants that are supplied from nurseries in our area.
Houseplant Collection
A large collection of exotic colour and foliage to compliment any room. These plants can be found lovingly displayed in our Indoor Plant Room, alongside all the composts and feeds needed to help your plants thrive.
Bird Care Range
We stock all the essentials to care for & attract wildlife to your garden!
Fill one of our paper bags with your favourite bird food and help us minimise plastic use. From specialist birdhouses and feeders to a variety of fatballs and suet treats we stock everything you need to ensure your local birds are well looked after.
Giftware
We offer an array of gifts and homeware to suit every home; from the cosy cottage to the magnificent manor. Our scented candles, diffusers and oils selection bring lovely scents and ambience to every room as well as beautiful jewellery and trinkets to accessorize your home
We also stock a great range of greeting cards for all occasions. There’s something for everyone.
Indoor & Outdoor Pots
With a fantastic range of glazed, terracotta and plastic outdoor pots we’re sure you’ll find the perfect style to compliment your garden.
We have many different shapes and sizes suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Peat Free Compost Ranges
At Hodgehill we have decided that we will not only grow all of our plants in peat free compost, but we will ensure that we keep the peat in all of our compost products to an absolute minimum.
We stock compost for all plant types including; multipurpose compost, soil conditioners and specialist mixes. Please speak to a member of staff for advice on which is best suited for you.
Furniture & Outdoor Living
No matter the size of your garden we have different styles of furniture to suit you. From bistro sets and companion seats for your patio to large tables and bench sets that can fit the whole family. Our selection of wooden and metal outdoor furniture is well built and will last for years to come.
The Green Olive Firewood Company use only sustainably sourced seasoned firewood and charcoals. Coupled with a Kadai firepit this offers everything you need to enjoy a summer evening in your garden.
Future Plans
Wildflower Meadow
Since the creation of our wildflower meadow in 2021 we have seen a huge increase in the number and variety of wildlife seen around Hodgehill. This is very pleasing as we strive to do our best to support the local environment and reduce our carbon impact. We are constantly tending and adding new UK native plants to the area and will soon be opening our wildlife walk to the public so everyone can wander through and enjoy the best of nature.
New Build Design
After last years major renovation of the farm shop work is now set to begin on our biggest project to date; a new entrance building that will link all aspects of Hodgehill together in one place. This project has been over five years in the making, starting with the relocation of our Café back in 2019. We are very excited about this new building as it will be the jewel in the Hodgehill crown and make shopping and visiting here all the more enjoyable.
