Welcome to Taverham Nursery Centre. We are a long established, local firm located 6 miles north west of Norwich.
The “roots” of Taverham Nursery date back to the late 1970’s when Roy Drane and Ken Dye bought a large carrot field on Fir Covert Road. They planted an assortment of soft fruit and Christmas trees. Initially supplying to the commercial market from a wooden hut and later, to pick your own selling to the general public. This quickly grew to include the sale of plants and compost and in 1982 Taverham Nursery was formerly established with the building of the first of the permanent buildings on site. The nursery has continued to grow over the years and now has one of the largest selections of plants in Norfolk much of it is still grown on site. It is now the premiere garden centre in Norfolk, selling everything you need for the garden and much more. The site now includes an aquatic centre and a country shopping centre selling a variety of things from running shoes to fishing rods and frying pans to sewing machines. In short it can be much more than a trip to the garden centre, it can be a day out.
Although much has changed over the years since its humble beginning, it continues to be run as a family business. Retaining its friendly, noncorporate image.
TOOLS & GARDEN CARE & PROPAGATION
We pride ourselves on being a traditional garden centre and like to think, that we cater for all types of garden and gardener. We carry an extensive choice of fertilisers and pest control with everything you need to keep your garden looking at its best. We pride ourselves on an ever-increasing organic range of products. We stock great ranges of traditional high-quality professional tools and competitively priced ranges for the amateur gardener, from all the top suppliers. We offer a terrific range of watering equipment from watering cans and hoses to the latest in digitally controlled irrigation systems. Once you have watered your lawn you will need to cut it and for that purpose, we stock a comprehensive range of petrol, electric and battery powered mowers. We also stock a full range of strimmer’s, hedge cutters and chainsaws, once again all available in petrol, electric and battery versions. If you like to grow your own plants from seeds or cutting’s we stock a full range of pots, seed trays and compost. We are now pleased to be able to offer a biodegradable range made from bamboo. We have a great range of compost to meet all your needs including various peat free options.
LANDSCAPE Our landscape offers a great range of products to transform the look of your garden. Everything you need from natural stone paving slabs to granite chippings, fence panels to decorative metal archways and much more. Come and have a look to get some great ideas of what you could achieve. Should you want somewhere to store your tools, or just the perfect mancave we have it all in our great range of sheds and summerhouses. Available in timber, plastic or metal. If it’s a greenhouse you need, we have an excellent range to meet all requirements and budgets.
LEISURE The leisure section at Taverham contains everything you could need for indoor/outdoor living. Every year we try to select a great range of outdoor furniture from Europe’s leading suppliers. Our ranges are selected by our own buyers who strive to assemble a unique collection tailored to meet the needs of our customers. Featuring classic wooden furniture to the latest in 4 season outdoor fabrics. We have an excellent selection of BBQ’s, featuring the top makes and latest in BBQ technology to the most basic of charcoal models, with range of fuel, covers and accessories to meet all your needs. THE PANTRY Browse our extensive selection of locally sourced pantry items including Norfolk Gin, artisan jams from the garden pantry and fresh farm eggs. With everything from sweet treats to cupboard essentials you will find everything you need in the Pantry from the best quality local brands.
PLANT SECTION
At Taverham plants are at the heart of what we do, unlike many garden centres we are still an active nursery growing a large proportion of what we sell on site. This enables us to give our customers the best possible choice of home-grown plants at the best possible price. We also source plants from across Britain and Europe from growers who share our values and passion for plants. We will always try to buy locally where we can. To help you find the plant you are looking for, we display the plants in two ways. We have an A-Z section where the plants are displayed by name in alphabetical order, we also have plants for specific purposes with themes such as, shady conditions, wildlife friendly or ground cover etc. This should enable you to find what you are looking for amongst our terrific range of plants. If you can’t we are happy to try and source, it for you. We also have a large covered area full of seasonal plants which are their best at that particular time of year.
You can browse these at your leisure regardless of the weather. Unlike many garden centres, our plant section carries an extensive range of plants 52 weeks of the year. Should you require any assistance or advice, there is always a fully experienced member of staff on hand. All our staff members in the plant section have had years of experience, they are extremely knowledgeable, keen and enthusiastic gardeners who are happy to assist with any horticultural problems or to help, in the section of the plants you need for your particular garden. You will also find one of the largest selections of decorative flowerpots and planters in Norfolk, to help bring patio or outside area to life.

HOUSEPLANTS
We have a large selection of houseplants with everything you need to look after them successfully and bring your home or conservatory to life. We stock a great selection of seasonal houseplants, planted arrangements, orchids, cacti and succulents. We also have a terrific range of silk flowers. Our trained staff are on hand to help with advice on the section and care of your plants and a gift-wrapping service is available if required. Our trained florists are happy to take orders for arrangements or bouquets, which can be made to your individual specification for that extra special occasion. In this section you will also find a great selection of decorative pots to help make any plant or arrangement that bit more special.
AQUATICS Our aquatics centre continues to grow, with the addition of a further 62 tanks. This has allowed us to increase our already great range of marine fish and corals, freshwater fish, marine and tropical invertebrates and a dedicated discus bay. In season we also offer a range of fish and plants for your pond, with 21 bays of fish including rarities such as starlet, tench, barbel etc. We have everything you need to set up a new aquarium or pond, or maintain an existing one, with a full range of pumps filters and food for all types of fish. Once your pond is established you may want to add a fountain or waterfall, you can pick one from our extensive range of traditional and modern water features.

OUR DELI We have recently opened our new deli where we are stocking a variety of locally produced products. These include locally produced jams, preserves, oils and salad dressings. Along with this is a great range of local produced alcohol. Norfolk has always been famous for consuming it, now we are also producing it. We have a selection of the best local gins, vodka’s and even whisky from Norfolk’s English Whisky Distillery. We have new products arriving in this section as it evolves to meet local needs, if you have any ideas of what to stock please pass on your ideas to our staff.
MAGNOLIAS RESTAURANT While you are here why not drop for a bite to eat or even just a cup of freshly ground coffee. Magnolias offer a comprehensive range of home cooked snacks and cakes. If you want to try something more substantial, they offer a full cooked breakfast or variety of home style cooking all freshly prepared. You could even treat yourself and book in for an afternoon tea and try our freshly made cakes all cooked on site just for you.
LOYALTY SCHEME
We operate our own loyalty card scheme where for every £1.00 you spend you accumulate 2.5p, this can be taken off your next purchase or saved towards a future purchase. As a loyalty card holder, you are invited to our special loyalty evening where all products are discounted by 25%. There are other offers of further discount or double points etc.
