The restorative garden on LSU campus is located between Audubon Hall and Woodin Hall. The proposed elements selected to meet the requirements for restorative gardens and to reduce stress based on research by Roger Ulrich and the Kaplans. To receive this goal, the pathways and garden spaces are designed to encourage people stop and explore the garden. There is a variety of seating choices that people can make in either open or private settings. The extensive and interesting of plant materials can not only screen the seating area from the main path but also provide a positive distraction and potential contact with nature. People are also given the option to enjoy sunshine EXISTING IMAGES in the open spaces or choose to enjoy the shaded private quiet 1spaces.

This project proposes to create a culture trail that connects historic sites, architecturally significant sites, existing artful sites as well as sites related to water or flood, between downtown BTR and Denham Springs. Introducing different art types to the elements (point, line, and surface) in proposed sites (warehouse, community, canal, and creek), the trail can not only attract artists to apply and exhibit their artwork in Baton Rouge, but also become a catalyst to make Baton Rouge a more attractive and vivid city. The whole design taking a chance of the 2016 Baton Rouge Flood, use art as a media to educate people and mitigate the influence of flood. Context (Site Selection)

We did the research about which agency can support our proposed design and make the big idea to be a true program. There are two main agencies which are related to our art trail project. Further, there can be APP and website development to help people understand this program. Supporting Agencies

Coney Island is a residential Brooklyn neighborhood that morphs into a relaxation and entertainment destination. Even though it is a world-famous amusement area, Coney Island faces a lot of environmental and social problems. At its highest it is 7 feet above sea level, which is very vulnerable to the flooding events. And due to the locations of sewage outfalls, the creek is highly contaminated.

Design Cocept: Reconnect
The design concept is highly related to the sea level change. When the sea level rises by 2 ft., the plants on Coney Island need to be tolerant to salt. When the sea level rises by 4 ft., the sewer system and road need to be fixed and the ground should be elevated. When the sea level rises by 6 ft., salt water from water table will reach to ground surface. Part of the land will be soaked in the salt water. The design process can be divided to three phases: phase I is from now to 2040, when the water level hits 2.1ft. Phase II is from 2040 to 2070, when the water level hits 4.1 ft. Phase III is from 2070 to 2100, when the water level hits 6.8 ft. 6 ft water level

Beyond the Centerline --The Rhythm of New York City
Group Project: Yimeng Wang, Jie Li, Ying Tan, Yue Pan I January 2018 Role: Detail design, diagram, 3D modeling and perspectives rendering (focous on art and technology blocks) To the north of the Grand Central Terminal, Park Avenue is distinguished by glass-box skyscrapers. These overwhelming skylines have formed people’s primary memory of the Park Avenue and the New York City. The elevation of the proposal transforms the existing skylines to the median landscape profile, which creates an interesting human-scale space.

This block has a great emphasis on the industry rhythm. To create the sense of industry, the steel-dominated and rectangular landscape furnitures (such as planters, seatings, and standing tables) holds a special aesthetic that memorizes the industrial era of New York. Its modern appearance and functional design will attract people to enjoy their coffee and even work with their laptop outdoor.

This block is dominated by the Nature stripe. New York City is a four-season place. To slow down people’s pace and encourage them to feel the natural dynamic, the proposal uses temperature sensitive installations and planting design with seasonal features. The water sculpture will become a beautiful ice wall when it is winter while keep running during other seasons. The temperature wall is designed based on the temperature range of New York and will change color while people add their thermal energy to the wall.

Swine Palace Amphitheater Design
Individual Project | 2014 Spring | Professor Peter Summerlin
Section 1-1
Cut and Fill
Our program is to execute a conceptual design and construction documents for the outdoor extention of the Reilly Theater. The program includes a covered pavilion, an amphitheater with seating for 45-60 people approximately, and sufficient pedestrian access from the existing Reilly Theater to the pavilion and ultimately the amphitheater. The construction documents are supposed to clearly define the proposed topographic changes, as well as the structural details for the terracing, pavilion, and stage.

Visual Lighting Design
Individual Project | 2015 Spring | Professor Jun Zou, Derick Ostrenko
Physical Lighting Model Using the orange compact lighing bulb, fabrics and chipboard model to form a contrast feeling between different materials.
Lighting Interaction (Group Work) This class is based on light works in both real and virtual environment. We learned basic terms about light and how to build models (just for the purposes of studying how light functioning) in both environments.
The wood blocks are used as steps that people can really step on. We use the Processing to trck people’s movement so that the light color changes as people move.
Projection Mapping
Using AfterEffect to do a animation of light outlining. Combine the projector and physical model to show a motion illusion of the object.
