LANDSCAPE TYPES
The site is located closed to the Oakwood Cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in Charlottesville. Cemeteries are the places where life and death, nature and culture meetings. However, we send our old people off to homes and hospitals to die; we only go the cemetery for funerals and then avoid such a beautiful space. This proposal is trying to connect the history with the present while trying to solve the issue of the cemetery reaching its maximum capacity. The combination of designing an ecological community and the cemetery develops new spaces in which one can reflect and reassess the meaning of life. The multi-level building with landscape connects the surrounding program as a whole symbiotic system. It is not only a good strategy to utilize the land efficiently, but also make people respect the history and cherish their life.
