Brock 100% Participate in development Role: Concept generation; Diagram; Garden and Roof design; Facade details; Plan ; Section; Digital Model; The HyperPod protects its inhabitants from airborne illnesses while remaining proximate to social and natural life. Units are spaced apart to maximize natural ventilation and daylight while reducing hazards related to conditioned air. The remaining space within the spatial envelope is dedicated to individual and small group outdoor activities. The zone between private and public is mediated by semiprivate balcony space, replicating the porch or “stoop” condition found on a typical residential street. Privacy is maintained by living walls, softening the edge between traditional urban domains while creating new habitats for non-human actors. The HyperPod anticipates future communities by emphasizing high-density neighborliness and access to public outdoor space.

POSITIVE SPACE+NEGATIVE SPACE
CITY TO NEIGHBORHOOD NEIGHBORHOOD TO SITE SITE TO INDIVIDUAL A continuum is something that keeps on going, slowly changing over time. It is a whole made up of many parts. In our case, Here is exploring how the Chinatown marker can serve as a continuum, or continuous sequence, between multiple scales.

The site’s clear linkage to the rest of the city and the neighborhood, so if making sure it is a successful project, if must successfully transition between these scales and culture context.
Different from the five senses in nature, the five senses in the market area are a sense of ebullience. Thus, in order to contiune the sense of ebullience, the negatice space is as main market area, other space is used to other program. 1. City to neighborhood. 2. Neighborhood to site. 3. Site to individual.

LIBRARY TOWER
Competitor for the 2016 International Young Architects Design Competition of Major Cultural Facilities in Shanghai Award:Finalist Time:May. 2016 Location: Shanghai Province Tutor: Hang Zhao Teamwork:Ying Chang Xin Zhang Role: Concept generation; Diagram drawing; Exploded diagram; Sectorization; Plan drawing; Section; Model.
Inspired by the Scripture library, it is one kind of ancient library in China, like a tower. However, with the city's development, just less these are reserved. Therefore, we design our library like several book towers, enabling new buildings to echo old buildings and new times to echo ancient history in Shanghai. This location is around four patches of green space, so that this design should connect its environment. Therefore, we need to break up our traditional impression that our library is a box. We seek a unique space experience and a different language. Thus, we design that the site's underground enables to connect all three portions by greenery and independent space based on different programs. One by one, independent book towers, therefore, form the circulations. The underground becomes "the open living room" of the Shanghai residents, which becomes their study and studio. There are green bridges among the book towers to ensure circulation in the air. The external walls are made of in-situ concrete with bamboo formwork. The towers' windows are LINIT glass, which enables the natural light for the library. Moreover, landscape ponds above the skylines also meet natural lighting. As a result, using environmental elements controls temperature and light.v

FACADE DESIGN In order to maintain the consistency of the cultural context of the Wicker Park neighbor, three colors were selected from the sampled brick colors and a vertical gradient was applied to the transition for mirco-unit. Considering that this is a crossroads, the point of connection between the building and the street is the hot spot on the ground floor. Moreover, considering the sharing function of cohousing, the first and second floor facades will be made of glass.

09 BAMBOO TECTONIC Academic Project Time: February - April 2017 Location: Yunnan Province Tutor: Guobin Wang Individual work
This design is located in the Liaohu village in Yunnan. The village is very blocking, and the transportation is hard to get in. Thus, this project is for designing something for villagers and their new tourism policy. The better way is to use local products and materials to help them. The village near bamboo forest and metallurgical industries are the main focus of production. Based on villagers' activities and traditional culture, there are three sites to build structures to promote their life level and build up a foundation for their tourism in the future. I study and compare their different connections about further bamboo research to conclude the exemplary connections for these three structures. Since my previous experience with the 1:1 model of bamboo, I now want to design new connections to decrease the difficulties of construction for this village. Three structures are designed by researching the properties of bamboo connections.

ADAPTIVE BAMBOO 3rd 2016 Japenese Structural Design Competition For Students, Young Engineers And Young Designer(www. ko-zo.jp) 「まち・呼応・構造」 "Town, Adaptation, Structure" Award:Finalist Time:March. 2016 Location: Hainan Province Tutor: Hang Zhao, Xun Zhao Teamwork:Ying Chang (Leader) Xinyi Wang, Fanqi Zeng Role: Concept generation; Hand painting; Drawing; Presentation; Rendering* 4; Fabrication.
We designed a movable toilet on the beach to use abundant locally produced bamboo. Through the properties of bamboo, we choose the best form under two-pressure bamboo since bamboo is an exciting and flexible material. We want to use this property to form the main structure of our design. Another interesting point is some possibilities of contact between bamboo and membrane material. Thus, our design has the characteristics of sustainability and multifunction to preserve the almost lost culture and adapt to the rapid development and construction of the new town. Moreover, we also hope this will bring more attention to Chinese social places for women.

FROM 35 METERS, YOU CAN SEE KYOTO...
Studio Time:11. 2019 Tutor:Leslie Johnson Individual work Academic work
A. WALL_KYOTO In basic terms, a wall might be read as a plane, a surface, a structure, or as a definitive edge, barrier, or threshold. A wall might provide security or separation. A wall may extend to or carry other elements to create shelter. A wall can connect interior and exterior, encourage movement inside a space, or separate space and materialize a border or division.
In this project, the hybrid bridge magically connects the Kyoto and New york city by researching both cities's history background and urban design. There are 4 parts: Wall, bridge, tower, and tower are designed in this project. Each component extend or challenge a specific site of operation within composite city.
There are different types of walls for different types of buildings. Thus, three walls have different functions to guide people's behavior. Elevation+Collage

B. BRIDGE_FRAME&SKIN In this project, I develop a system of bridge. Thus, wherever here has kyo-machiya people can use this bridge syste. And this bridge connects the machiy, and connects machiya and street, which means they connect the private area and public area. At the city level, the bridge system fabric will be made by Kyoto city fabric.

The problem connecting the two cities is the huge height difference between the local buildings. To connect Kyoto and New York with a bridge from it, I designed a node.
