Architectural Design / Portfolio 2006-2012 Applying for Penn Design
To me, architecture should be adaptable to the ever-changing needs of modern times. In unstable climate and socioeconomic scenarios, we are facing a more complicated urban-architectural situation than ever before. Thus, I believe we need to develop a more flexible and pliable system and combine all the factors to form a harmonious urban landscape.

The Principles of Logical Atomism The first principle of logical atomism is that the World contains "facts". The facts are complex structures consisting of objects ("Particulars"). This he defines as "objects' relations in terms of atomic facts " is a fact, either from an object with a simple property or from different objects, in relation to each other more easily. In addition, there are judgments ("Beliefs"), which are in a relationship to the facts, and by this relationship either true or false. According to this theory, even ordinary objects of daily life "are apparently complex entities". According to Russell, words like "this" and "that" are used to denote particulars. In contrast, ordinary names such as "Socrates" actually are definitive descriptions. In the analysis of "Plato talks with his pupils", "Plato" needs to be replaced with something like "the man who was the teacher of Aristotle".

ACOUSTIC ANALYSIS (THE UNPREDICTABLE CACOPHONY FROM LOCAL MECHANICS WORKING METAL)
The whole Zhongshan District is divided into two parts by a linear park above the buried MRT tracks. The east side is the magnificent half of Taipei City. Modern commercial buildings line the streets, standing tall and proud. People walk fast toward globalization and breathe capitalism. The buildings and streets are designed for a large scale city. On the other hand, the west side is the older part of Taipei City: Chifeng Street. Residents share a more interdependent community. They live in rows of three-floor townhouses built during the Japanese Colonial Period (1895-1945) and share the sights, sounds, and smells in five-meter-wide alleys, which barely form a boundary between private and public areas. Looking out the back porch, one stares straight into one of neighbors' anti-theft windows guarded by iron bars. Glimpses of people's life unfold right before one's eyes. Mechanics roar downstairs, making loud noises from metalworking. Open arcading storefronts that connect with the sidewalk shelter pedestrians from the frequent rain and the scorching sun, but provide little respite from the noise and bustle on Chifeng Street. The cacophony is made especially insufferable due to the loud and unpredictable intermittent banging from local mechanics working metal, infiltrating every area of the environment. I began my project by urban observing and I found the way to improve the city was to reshape the sound-scape and give the public areas back to the passersby.
THE OPEN ARCADING STOREFRONTS PROVIDE LITTLE RESPITE FROM LOUD NOISE, KEEPING PASSERS AWAY

The Banaue Rice Terraces are parts of the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, ancient sprawling man-made structures from 2,000 to 6,000 years old. Further, The Banaue Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras was named as a world heritage site by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in 1995. It has passed by UNESCO’s standards due to the blending of the physical, socio-cultural, economic, religious, and political environment as a living cultural landscape. But, The Banaue Rice Terraces have also been in-scripted to the List of World Heritage in Danger on 2001 since there are many ruin problems, such as deforestation and climate changes, younger generations have opted to come to the capital city for work instead of the traditional farming and giant earthworms destroy the structure of Rice Terraces.
