Backgrounds Before settling down, it is common to spend several years renting rooms in cities, trying jobs, and pursuing an ideal future. This kind of “living alone and frequently moving” status is common among young people.

Research After giving our target users detailed interviews and questionnaires, we found some common points in the results:
Over 30% of the respondents bought additional lamps or lights when they moved in.
For most respondents, some shirts and pants are usually worn 2-3 times before being washed.
Half of our respondents don’t like to invite friends to their present home.
Portability is a main concern for almost all respondents while shopping for furniture.
Most of the respondents spend more than 4 hours sitting in front of their desks using computers after arriving home from work or school.
Half of the respondents felt a sense of loneliness facing a dark room when they arrived home.
Around three quarters of respondents often struggle to ďŹ nd their keys before going out.

THE GHOST CIRCUS Graphic & Souvenir Design for National Museum of History. This is a graphic design project in cooperation with the National Museum of History in Taiwan for a memorial exhibition on Pu Xinyu. I chose the painting series of Zhong Kui and the ghosts as inspiration, as it is the most lively and special of Pu’s works. The characters wearing colorful clothes are posing so vividly that it makes me think of a circus performing. The graphic is also applied to a set of teaware.

THE PAU S E STOOL Stool design with oriental spirit. Inspired by the writing actions of Chinese calligraphy. The stretch and pause in writing a character is like taking a short rest while walking. “The Pause Stool” is made of concrete and has a smooth shape. The material shows a sense of “Zen”, which is a spiritually peaceful state of mind in oriental culture. The black cushion adds softness, like a drop of ink. Have a little rest on the stool; take a pause for a longer journey.

Inspiration The Pattern of Bamboo Weaving Craft
Bamboo weaving is a common craft in Taiwanese people’s daily lives, and it is applied in many goods such as baskets, stools, chairs, containers, and so on. There are a few different kinds of weaving skills which are used to create different patterns. The patterns are beautiful, geometric, sophisticated and, most importantly, give a sense of familiarity and memories to all Taiwanese people.

DEER & MOOSE A gift brand for your loved ones. Deer & Moose was a little brand originating from a group project in class, and we continued designing and selling these products for nearly two years. Our purpose was to convey emotions that most Taiwanese people are shy about expressing directly to their loved ones. Sold in markets and online, each product came with simple, heartfelt words and the concept that you could give it to your loved ones, and make them smile and feel touched.
