My passion for architecture lies in the hands-on process of formgiving, in the collaborative steps towards shaping ideas. My years of experience in Japan has taught me how to "think with my hands" through sketches, diagrams, and skillfully crafted models.

I represented Fujiwalabo as a part of the core project design team. My main responsibilities were: model making, digital modeling, archviz rendering, and intern/student helper management. My position in this project as the 3D and rendering specialist has been indispensable for providing in-house solutions to renderings and visual studies for the team throughout the design phase.

The steadfast development of this project depended on a CAD-to3D workflow to check for drafting accuracy and fit, as well as to develop renders for in-house studies and for communicating with clients and collaborators. I was in charge of the development and maintenance of the project 3D file, as well as making renderings using them.

Settlers and Shophouses

Site : George Town, Penang, Malaysia

Proposal : a series of small-scale pilot projects

George Town is a city in Penang, Malaysia with its historical urban fabric of vernacular shophouses threatened by dereliction and damage due to poor management.

Following a months-long, historical, urban, and architectural research, a development strategy is proposed responding to the critical urban depopulation and loss of heritage buildings in the city. This results in a series of pilot proposals for regenerating local architecture, communities and their heritages.

This proposal aims to mirror the existing community park in the central-south neighborhood onto the declining northern neighborhood, whilst also introducing new functions integrated into the neighborhood regeneration plans. These proposed functions are elaborated on the next page.

The Sibarian Archeo-pelago

Juxtaposed upon ancient migratory paths and historical settlements, this project proposes a long term strategy for preserving the integrity and identity of the Sibari archeological sites against imminent rising sea levels, whilst elevating the historical prominence and identity of the space within the timeless landscape of Calabria.

Earth embankments are built around main archeological sites with immovable artifacts to protect them from the rising sea level. Terracing and tree-planting the slopes help stabilize the earthworks, providing shaded green spaces for the public.

This curving, linear building consists of a clinic and an elementary school. The clinic is partially submerged into the public park. Its multipurpose entrance hall opens to the pedestrian path under the bridge.

Meanwhile, the school starts from under the bridge opposite the clinic, and wraps around an enclosed inner garden bordered by the building and pedestrian path. Both the school and the clinic are joined by a library on the bridge arching across the pedestrian path.

During the 2-week "Open-air Gym" workshop seminar led by Cascone and Laddaga of CODESIGNLAB, me and my colleagues from the ASA program designed and built a 1:1 scale prototype timber pavilion for as part of a grassroots movement to the inmates of Milan's Bollate prison with a modular, self-buildable, outdoor exercising space.

The Mori Lamp is a metaphorical sculpture that explores how we interact between our inner selves our social environment in our daily lives. The design is modelled after the Japanese social concept of "honne and tatemae", where one's inner self remains hidden behind one's public facade.
