Facebook Page

As mentioned before, having a Facebook Page is crucial for your business. On a Facebook Page people can choose to ‘Like’ or to ‘Follow’ your Page. If they ‘Like’ it, it shows up on their own profile and newsfeed, but if they just ‘Follow’, they see updates from that Page without it appearing as one of their likes on their profile. One of the key factors about a Facebook Page is that it’s public. People can search for your page and see content posted to it without liking or following it themselves. Facebook Pages are great for showcasing your content and it’s a frontfacing window to the Facebook world.

Facebook Group

Facebook Groups are a more private option than Pages and are a great way to build an engaged community. A Group can also be displayed on the Page that it is associated with. Groups are used for different things, from local news and events to buying and selling. Posts in Groups aren’t shared in Newsfeeds—they only appear in the Group. Group members can also choose whether to receive all notifications posted in the group or just those that have been highlighted. In Facebook Groups, you don’t have the possibility to see lots of analytics. You can see who has joined the group and also respond to requests to join—if you set the group to Private.

Setting up a

Facebook Page

Before setting up your Facebook Page, you need to log in to your personal Facebook Account. Keep in mind that your personal information will NOT be visible publicly on your Facebook Page. STEP 1 – CREATE •

Click on the button ’Create’ and select ’Page’ to create your Facebook Page.

STEP 2 – CREATE A PAGE •

After selecting the ‘Page’ option, you’ll be directed to a section where you can select the type of page you want to create: Business/Brand or Community/Public Figure. There’s not a big difference between the two. The functionalities stay the same.

In this Guide, we will be showing you the steps to create a Facebook Page for your Business and the Brand ‘YOU’. Now click the ‘Get Started’ button for the relevant option.

FACEBOOK STEP 3 – BUSINESS/BRAND •

In the next step, you enter your business information. Choose a page name that people are likely to search for when trying to find you.

If you create a Page using the ‘Community/Public Figure’ option, you can simply choose your personal name or the name of your community.

For the category, simply type a word or two that describes your business. Facebook will automatically suggest some options that you can choose from. When your business/brand falls into more than one category, choose the option that your customers are most likely to look for when they think about your business. You can add more categories later.

Once you have entered your Page name and chosen your category, the box will expand to enter more details, such as your address and phone number. You can choose whether you would like these to be public and just enter the town/city. In order to proceed you will need to enter something in the ‘Address’ bracket – you can simply enter your town there again in order to continue creating your page.

Tick the box to only show your town/city and click on ‘Continue’.

STEP 4 – ADD PICTURES AND ONLINE BOOKING •

Add a profile picture: make sure to add a photo that represents you, as well as one in which people can recognise you.

Add a cover photo: add a cover image for others to recognise what your page represents.

Online Booking tool: if you want, you can also add Facebook’s free appointment booking tool, where other people/members can book an appointment with you for learning sessions, events, zoom calls or any other appointments that you are offering.

FACEBOOK Give your Page a name STEP 5 – CREATE PAGE USERNAME •

You have now successfully created a Facebook page. The next step is to create a username for your page so that others can find your page on Facebook and Google. You want your username to be easy to type and easy to remember. Click on ‘Create Page @username’ to get started.

Enter a username that you would like to use and click ‘Create Username’. Your username can also be the name of your Page.

After clicking ‘Create Username’, you will receive a confirmation that your Username has been created for your Page.

FACEBOOK STEP 6 – FILL OUT YOUR BUSINESS DETAILS You might be tempted to leave this step for later, but it is important that you fill out all your details before showing the world your newly-created Facebook page. •

Start by clicking on the left-hand side on the ‘About’ button to get started.

Then click ‘Edit About’.

A pop-up window will open where you can add a Description for your Facebook Page.

Once you click ‘Save’, the ‘Edit About’ section will change into ‘About’ and your description will appear (you can edit this section at any time).

Additional information

Go to ‘Edit Page info’ to add additional information such as: CONTACT: Add contact details you want to make public, including your phone number, website or email. LOCATION: If you have a physical store or office, include your location and mark it on the map. HOURS: If you have business hours, enter those too. This information will also appear in search results. EXTRA OPTIONS: If applicable, enter your impressum*, pricing and a link to your privacy policy.

*An impressum is a legal statement of ownership, and it is generally only required in some European countries.

FACEBOOK STEP 7 – TELL YOUR STORY You have now filled in all the details about your business and information that people will find on your Facebook Page. But there’s not much to tell people why they should engage with you or your business on Facebook. The next step is to create a longer description of your business in the ‘Story’ section. •

To access this, go to the left-hand side of your Page and click ‘See more’.

Then click ‘About’.

Then click ‘Our Story’ on the right-hand side. You can now add a detailed description of what your business offers and maybe also how you started the business or the journey of building the brand YOU. This is a great place to set out a compelling reason for customers to stick around.

Once you have entered a headline and the text for your story, upload a relevant cover photo and click ‘Publish’ when you’re finished.

TOP TIP In the ’About’ section, you can always change your Page’s name, Username or edit/add a Category.
