The Thieves® Story

What connects our Thieves® range is that all our products are infused with Young Living’s proprietary Thieves® essential oil blend. This signature scent joined the YL family in 1994 and went on to inspire a whole range of versatile household cleaning and personal care products. But where did the name come from?

Young Living’s Thieves® blend was inspired by the legendary fable of four thieves in 15th century France who wore a special combination of clove, rosemary and other botanicals which they believed provided them protection while they were stealing. When the thieving quartet were eventually arrested, the French authorities were so amazed by their concoction that they offered them a more merciful punishment in return for them revealing their secret formula.
