Updating Facebook Pages

Once you have created your Facebook Page, you need to find the best ways to get your page discovered. Share your page with people from your team, your friends and your family. Create a post on your personal Facebook profile so people will see your page as well. Also, update your Facebook Page as much as possible and on a regular basis. Updating your page is important for your page reach and engagement. Since your Facebook Page can be featured on different websites or can be suggested by Facebook to other people, it is important for you to leave all the important information on your page. To start, you need to log into your Facebook account and access your Facebook Page. Updating your Facebook Page is available through: •

On the left hand-side in the ‘General’ section, you have additional options to update your Facebook Page. These are your general Facebook Page settings, where you decide how people can interact with you on your page.

As the creator and Admin of your Facebook Page, you have the control of these settings. You can control your posting preferences and decide whether you would like others to post on your page as well or tag your page on their posts. You can manage your page visibility, which is either publishing your page or set the page as unpublished. Different options allow you to also determine the restrictions regarding age limit or the country where your page is visible.

FACEBOOK Another option in your Settings, that you should consider updating are your notifications. These will help you to receive the relevant notifications you need to stay up to date with people who are commenting on your posts or who sent you a private message. Your Facebook Page also allows you to add people who are creating content for you as well. To do this, you need to go to ‘Page Roles’. You can add someone who is on Facebook to your page and give them a role. They will receive a notification via email to access the page. If you set your page as an unpublished page, you can continue working on it. Your page won’t be visible to anyone, but you can continue amending your options, add additional photography or other content.

TOP TIP To schedule content in advance on your Facebook Page, you’ll need to use Facebook’s Creator Studio. It will automatically direct you to a new page where you can schedule your photos and videos in advance. In the Creator Studio, you’ll also have access to your photo and video insights. SYMBOL

INSTAGRAM Instagram Professional account

Once you have determined what updates you want to make on your Facebook Page, you’ll reach a section where you can add your Instagram account to your Facebook Page. But before explaining how you can do that, we are going to tackle the relevance and importance of having an Instagram Business or Creator profile—also known as an Instagram Professional account. If you want to grow your Instagram, it is important to switch to a Professional account. In order to become a Professional account, you have to choose between a Creator or a Business profile. There is no significant difference between a Business or Creator account. Instagram refers to the two types of accounts as “Professional” accounts, and the nature of the Creator profile is designed for an individual user (whether it’s an actor, musician or blogger) while the Business profile is aimed at people that sell products or services.

Here, you can fill out or update general information about your business such as: •

Get access to Instagram Analytics about your followers and posts

Filter your direct messages

Add links to your Instagram Story (available to accounts with over 10k followers)

Add a category label to your account

INSTAGRAM Adding contact details

Once you opt in for an Instagram Business account, you will have the possibility to link the contact details of your account.

You can add the phone number of your business or an email address. You’ll be able to include directions as well, if you have a physical location of your business. The address will appear below your profile’s description. You can decide to hide your contact information at any point on your public profile. Having a Professional profile helps you understand your audience better by using the insights of your Instagram account, You’ll have the option to find out which content attracts your audience the most and what type of posts are working the best on your account.

NOTE Once you change to a Business or Creator profile, you will have two different inboxes. You’ll have access to an inbox with Primary and General tabs. You can use those inboxes to organise your messages and control your notifications.

FACEBOOK Linking Instagram to Facebook To keep your social media in one place and updated regularly,

be sure to link your Instagram account to your Facebook page.

This will also help you to post the content you would like to post

on your Instagram automatically to your Facebook page. Linking your Instagram account to your Facebook will help you to build brand awareness and increase customer reach. Creating this bridge between Facebook and Instagram is a good way, since the content that you post on Instagram will also work on Facebook. To link your Instagram to your Facebook, you must log into your Facebook account and go to your page. 1. Click on ‘Edit Page Info’. 2. On the left hand-side, click on ‘Instagram’. Click ‘Connect Account’. If you’re already logged into Instagram on your desktop, it’ll open a new tab where you can connect with your Instagram account. If not, simply login into your Instagram
