FIRST CLASS PRIVATE ROOMS

We offer several First Class sleeping accommodations to make you more comfortable, whether you're traveling alone or with your family - Roomettes, Bedrooms, and Accessible Bedrooms. Your daytime seating easily converts to a bed at night and Amtrak’s attentive staff provides turndown service and keeps facilities tidy. Roomette

For customers seeking both privacy and savings in First Class, Roomettes feature two comfortable seats by day transformed to upper and lower beds by night. Each room includes a big picture window, newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens and access to a restroom and shower in your car. A dedicated First Class attendant will provide turndown service, assist with meals and help with luggage.

Bedroom

For customers seeking extra comfort and space in First Class, Bedrooms provide twice the space as a Roomette and feature a sofa and separate chair by day transformed into upper and lower beds by night. Each room includes a big picture window, newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens and an in-room sink, restroom and shower. A dedicated First Class attendant will provide turndown service, assist with meals and help with luggage.

Bedroom Suite

Bedrooms Suites combine two adjoining Bedrooms—featuring two sofas and two separate chairs by day transformed into four beds by night. Each suite includes two big picture windows, newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens and two in-room sinks, restrooms and showers. A dedicated First Class attendant will provide turndown service, assist with meals and help with luggage.

Accessible Bedroom

For First Class customers traveling with a disability, Accessible Bedrooms are located on the entry level of the train and offer ample space for a wheelchair. Each room features seating by day transformed into upper and lower beds by night, plus a big picture window, newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens, an accessible in-room sink and restroom and access to a private shower. A dedicated First Class attendant will provide turndown service, assist with meals and help with luggage.

Family Room

For customers traveling with children in First Class, Family Rooms span the width of the car with ample space for two adults and two children (ages 2-12). Each room features seating for four by day transformed into two upper and two lower beds by night, plus two big picture windows, newly upgraded bedding, pillows, towels and linens and access to a private restroom and shower in your car. A dedicated First Class attendant will provide turndown service, assist with meals and help with luggage.

TRADITIONAL DINING

Whether it's a full sit-down meal or more informal food service, many trains have one or more options for onboard dining.

As an exclusive, complimentary offering for customers traveling in First Class private rooms, traditional dining service is provided in the Dining Car on the Auto Train, California Zephyr, Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle (between San Antonio and Los Angeles).

Traditional dining features seasonal menus with a variety of entree selections. Complement your meal with a wide selection of beverages, including beer, wine, spirits (the first one is on us). Be sure to leave room for dessert — there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth. In addition to Amtrak’s regular menu, kids can order all their favorites onboard.

Café service is also available to all customers along these routes, offering a variety of meals, snacks and beverages for sale.

Making Reservations Meal Times

Customers on routes with traditional dining service can make reservations for lunch and dinner — served in the Dining Car or by complimentary in-room service.

Special menu selections, including kosher meals and vegan meals, are available on select trains.

Breakfast: Available 6:30 - 9:30 am

Lunch: Available 11:30 am - 2:30 pm Dinner: Available: 5:00 - 9:00 pm

Final seatings at 9:30 am, 2:30 pm, 9:00 pm respectively. A ‘last call’ is made 15 minutes before period ends. Exceptions may apply based on train schedule or in the event of a delay.
