Skilled graduate During the year, the Student Union will closely monitor changes targeted on the higher education system. HYY will clearly inform about any changes and seeks to influence drawbacks already in the preparatory phase. HYY will take a more active and visible role in study development projects at different levels of the University. During the year, the Student Union will create a network where student representatives on different administrative levels receive information and support for their actions as well as the opportunity to discuss topical issues. Challenges related to academic students’ transition to the working life will be clarified together with the University of Helsinki and trade unions.
Student – visible and influential citizen The municipal election themes of the year 2012 emerge through students and the goals are achieved together with the students. When influencing the municipal elections, the Student Union aims to improve students’ image as functioning members of society who have influence and visibility in the urban community. These objectives are also promoted through the World Student Capital year. Through the project, the Student Union aims to find new solutions for student housing, enliven the campuses and establish cooperation between student organisations in the metropolitan area and the cities.
Diverse and conversational student community HYY is regarded as a community that actively reaches and supports its members and organisations. The various needs of HYY’s members and the diversity of the organisational field is taken into account in all activities. Particular attention is paid to internationalisation and international students. Trilingual activities and communications develop the Student Union into a more transparent and accessible community. The Student Union will pay attention to the transparency of HYY’s operations and it seeks out new operational models for influencing and communications.
