Final Project Urban Corridor – Urban Journey (space + people) Group project Groups of 3-4 Objective Urban corridors are linear system of urban organization which acts as a linkage between two cities or city parts through transportation and economic axes. Urban corridor spark business and change the nature and function of individual towns and cities, promoting regional economic growth but also often reinforcing urban primacy and balanced regional development. The general objectives of urban corridors are: 1. To provide easy access of the people by pedestrian. 2. To ease the lifestyle of the user group by providing hospitality. 3. To increase the land value by providing different offside road activities. 4. To provide a visual connectivity between the people and fabric of continuous developed units. 5. To design a unique character of the urban fabric using "designed urban corridors". Course objective Develop Urban Planning Legislations for urban corridors. Propose Urban Corridors in Doha Select a location that you consider appropriate to propose an urban corridor. Survey and study the area. Propose an urban corridor. Propose urban planning legislations to follow. Approach ⦁ Case studies at different existing urban corridors from around the world. ⦁ Identifying the activities and design strategies that are involved in urban corridors. ⦁ Identify problems and issues of existing built environment in Doha urban corridors. ⦁ Design a new corridor that provides a solution for the above discussed problems.
