›MADELINE ROMIOUS & DAVID BYRD YMCA of Greater Kansas City
We look forward each year to the opportunity to tip our hats to our YMCA of Greater Kansas City volunteers.
The Spirit of Service and Hero of the Heart award recipients are inspiring examples of what is possible when individuals step forward to share their time and talents. At the Y, our volunteers wear many hats. It might be a chef’s hat for a volunteer who’s helping families learn to prepare healthy meals. Or a baseball cap for a volunteer helping a special needs athlete play sports. Or a Dr. Seuss hat for a volunteer who’s helping children improve their reading skills. Thanks to volunteers willing to wear so many hats, the Y is able to deliver our
Madeline Romious Chair, Board of Directors
vision, Safe Passage: Passport for Life. It’s the idea that the Y is here to give people at every stage of life the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, so they can reach their fullest potential. Our volunteers are so important to helping people on their journey and helping ensure that no matter what transition or challenge someone is facing, support is available at the Y. This book celebrates the many hats volunteers wear as they make a difference at the Y. Enjoy their stories, and be inspired.
