LAUNCH THEIR STORY 2018 - 2019 Y READERS IMPACT REPORT
WHY SUMMER LEARNING MATTERS
When the school year ends, summer for children in high-poverty environments often means a lack of educational opportunities and greater risk of falling behind academically. As children progress through school, the achievement gap widens and students fall farther behind. THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP

DESIRED SUMMER OUTCOME
The goal is for struggling readers to avoid summer slide by maintaining their reading skills and making measurable progress in closing their reading proficiency gap.
Y Readers participants take a pre and post-program assessment in order to quantify reading proficiency gains. Outcomes are measured using i-Ready, a computer adaptive test that measures both grade level proficiency and growth in reading skills over time.
