We identified and agreed on four SOCIALLY RELEVANT PRIORITIES:
YOUTH EMPOWEMENT “as a key element of our mission at all levels”
PEACE & JUSTICE “through relevant programmes and initiatives”
REFUGEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS & MIGRANTS “responding to the phenomenon”
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT “providing tools and opportunities”
And we agreed to respond effectively THROUGH THREE PILLARS

MOVEMENT STRENGTHENING We agreed:
“To work with National Movements to build capacity and sustainability of the YMCA in Europe” We report: · Movement strengthening staff position created; · Movement strengthening Committee created; · 26 initiatives / actions 2016 - 2020; · 28 National YMCAs involved (as beneficiaries or partners).
MOVEMENT STRENGTHENING We agreed:
“To have evidence of National Movements´clarity in mission, social relevance and institutional viability” We report: · Movement strengthening concept developed; · 19 National Movements filled Needs assessment survey; · 7 National Movements filled Health Check survey; · 13 National Movements filled COVID19 impact survey; · 95% National Contributions from National Movements received annualy (2016-2019).
MOVEMENT STRENGTHENING We agreed:
“YMCA Europe identifies resources for youth leadership development”
We report: · Leadership Academy Project created; · 120,000 € fundraised and secured 2016 - 2020; · 110 participants; · 8 training sessions (governance, strategic planning, advocacy, project management).
MOVEMENT STRENGTHENING We agreed:
“To strengthen the National General Secretaries Forum as an active working platform” We report: · 4 NGS Forums (2016-2019); · 38,000 € fundraised and secured (all costs on site secured); · 25 participants (average).
REPRESENTATION & ADVOCACY We agreed:
“YMCA Europe works together with National Movements to raise the profile of the YMCA in Europe”
We report: · YMCA Europe Office in Brussels set, registered & operating; · Transition Prague - Brussels (2020); · 160,000 € secured as part of staff and office costs (2016-2020); · 12 National Movements received assistance with different EU projects / applications; · EU Operational grant secured (2016 - 2020), 50,000 € / year.
REPRESENTATION & ADVOCACY We agreed:
“YMCA Europe and National Movements benefit from advocacy on European Union and the Council of Europe”
We report: · 26 average annual meetings in Brussels with EU and youth sector institutions ; · Increased relation with EU Parliament, Commision, Council of Europe, Youth Forum and “Big 6 organizations” ; · 3 policy documents on YE Strategy published ; · 2 Youth focused campaigns launched.
COMMUNICATIONS We agreed:
“To improve YMCA Europe´s internal and external communications” We report: · First ever report & publication on Facts / Stats on the European YMCAs; · All publications: “in house” concept, design & execution; · Annual Report on communications & statistics; · Set up the “communications group” with staff from all European YMCAs;

GOALS NOT ACHIEVED IN STRATEGIC PERIOD 2016-2020 YOUTH EMPLOYMENT YMCA Europe was not able to develop a pan European specific project on this field, securing funding and involving the National Movements. ORGANISATIONAL REVIEW PROCESS It was finalized only on the governance structure (major Constitutional changes approved in 2019) and adjustments on staff team. Other structural and programmatic areas are still under discussion. EUROPEAN FUNDING
YMCA Europe did not increase substantially the funding from the European Union for its own platform and the National Movements .
GOALS NOT ACHIEVED IN STRATEGIC PERIOD 2016-2020 EVIDENCE ABOUT THE NATIONAL MOVEMENTS
Not enough evidence about National Movements´s clarity on its mission, social relevance and institutional viability. RESPONSE TO SOCIAL CHALLENGES
European movement not responding collectively to pan European social challenges.
