FALL SPORTS Carpool, coach, teammate and practice requests are taken with registration and honored whenever possible. For maps to practice and game locations visit ymcalouisville.org.

SOCCER All Saturday games take place between 9am and 3pm. All Sunday games are between 1pm and 6pm. Each player must provide their own shin guards. Cleats are optional.

AGE 3 | COED SOCCER Description

• This is an introduction to the sport of soccer. • Teams play 4 on 4 with no goalie and each quarter lasts 4 minutes. • Size 3 soccer balls are used. • Officials take an active role in coaching as well as enforcing the s.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice once a week for 20-30 minutes. • Practice takes place directly before each game. • Saturday and Sunday game day options available. • Games take place at UPS and the Water Tower.

AGES 4-5 | COED SOCCER Description

• This is an introduction to the rules of soccer. • Focus is on learning throw-ins and a modified goal kick. • Teams play 6 on 6 with goalies and each quarter lasts 8 minutes. • Size 3 soccer balls are used. • Officials take an active role in coaching as well as enforcing the rules.

AGES 6-7 | COED SOCCER Description

• Focus is on skill development and rules of the game. • Teams play 7 on 7 with goalies and each quarter lasts 10 minutes. • Size 4 soccer balls are used.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice one night each week for an hour. • Saturday and Sunday game day options available. • Practice and game locations are UPS or the Water Tower.

AGES 8-9 | COED SOCCER and AGES 8-10 | GIRLS SOCCER Description

• Focus is on continued skill development and teamwork. • Teams play 9 on 9 with goalies and each quarter lasts 10 minutes. • Size 4 soccer balls are used.

• Teams practice one night each week for an hour. • Games are held on Saturdays. • Practice and game locations are Springdale and the Water Tower (coed only).

AGES 4-14 | SOCCER CLINIC

Description

• Focus is on continued skill development and physical fitness. • Teams play 11 on 11 with goalies and each quarter lasts 12 minutes. • Size 4 soccer balls are used.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice one night each week for an hour. • Games are held on Saturdays. • Practice and game locations are Springdale and the Water Tower. • Teams may travel to other YMCA branches for some games.

AGES 12-14 | COED SOCCER and AGES 11-14 | GIRLS SOCCER Description

Description

• Optional 2 hour, single day program is held before the season starts to work on proper techniques and skill development. • $10 Fee required. • Ages 4-5 meet on Tuesday, ages 6-7 on Wednesday, and ages 8-14 on Thursday. • All ages meet from 6-8pm.

AGES 10-14 | SOCCER TOURNAMENT Description

• This is an end of season tournament. • Takes place at Louisville Champions Park. • The tournament games are held on a Saturday and Sunday. • Coaches will provide further details.

• Focus is on continued skill development, physical fitness and teamwork. • Teams play 11 on 11 with goalies and each half lasts 35 minutes. • Size 5 soccer balls are used.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice two nights a week for an hour. • Games are held on Saturdays. • Practice and home games take place at Springdale. • Teams may travel to other YMCA branches for some games.

FLAG FOOTBALL All Saturday games take place between 9am and 1pm. All Sunday games are between 1pm and 6pm. A helmet and flag belt are provided to all players. Each player must provide their own mouth guard. Cleats are optional. Everyone plays at least half of the game.

AGES 6-7 | COED FLAG FOOTBALL Description

• This is an introduction to the sport of football. • Focus is on keeping kids moving with simple plays, mostly hand offs. • Pee-wee sized footballs are used. The field is 40 yards long. • Coaches are on the field to assist with plays.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice 30 minutes before each game. • Games are held on Saturdays or Sundays. • Practices and games are held at Westport Middle School.

AGES 8-9 | COED FLAG FOOTBALL Description

• Focus is on the pass as well as the run. • Junior sized footballs are used. The field is 60 yards long. • Coaches are on the field for 30 seconds to get play started.

• Teams practice on Saturdays for an hour. • Games are held on Sundays. • Practices and games are held at Westport Middle School.

• This is an introduction to the sport of volleyball. • Focus is on learning the rules and the correct way to contact the ball. • Players serve from 10 feet closer than a regular service line. • Teams play 6 on 6 with 3 games per match. • The net is approximately 6 feet high.

Practice and Games

• Teams practice once a week for an hour. • Practices are held at Berrytown YMCA and Westport Middle School. • Games take place on Tuesday evenings. • Games are played at Berrytown YMCA.

• Teams practice once a week for an hour. • Practices are held at Berrytown YMCA and Westport Middle School. • Games take place on Tuesday evenings. • Games are played at Berrytown YMCA.

FEES A portion of your registration fees may be applied towards YMCA membership. Through the Spirit Program, the YMCA strives to turn no one away due to inability to pay.

Fees include team shirt, picture, and participation award. Late registration fee is $10.

YOU CAN HELP For information about how to volunteer visit ymcalouisville.org or call the branch.

Coaches attend practices and games, providing leadership and skill development. Team Managers assist with team activities such as coordinating schedules and snack duties. Team Sponsorships are used to fund opportunities for participation to children who otherwise could not afford it. Sponsorships include company logo on player and coach t-shirts. Show your support for strong kids!
