This class is for the child who have little or no experience. Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance. *We will offer 2 classes during each time slot
Swimmers must swim 20 feet or about three quarters the width of the pool without floatation to enter this class. Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages.

Swimmers must swim 5 feet without assistance or floatation and fully submerge their face in the water to enter this class. Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently.
Swimmers must be able to proficiently swim the length of the pool, 25 yards, on stomach and back without floatation to enter. Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Swimmers must be able to swim the entire length of the pool with proficient front crawl and backstroke and tread water for 1 minute without becoming exhausted to enter this class. Please bring goggles.

Specialty Aquatics Swim Classes Teen Beginner Swim Class
Jr. Lifeguard Course
A class for teens who are beginner swimmers or who have never had lessons. Improve confidence, comfort, teach floating, horizontal swimming skills in freestyle and backstroke.
This class meets two times a week. Participants must be able to swim 2 lengths of the pool, front crawl, back stroke, and tread water for thirty seconds. Participants will develop skills to meet the Lifeguarding course prerequisite. Participants will learn in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, and concepts of first aid, CPR and AED. Participants will also shadow lifeguards in rotation to get a real sense of being on the job.

Learn the basics of competitive diving. Students will practice back jumps in straight position, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives. Divers must be able to pass the deep end swim test and do a forward dive from the side of the pool.

A class for divers who have been promoted from the beginner class or high school divers who want to perfect their advanced skills. Instructor recommendation is required.

Adult Swim Adult Swim Training Club
Adult Swim Stroke Development
For beginner and advanced swimmers seeking to improve their technique and overall fitness. This two days per week training program will provide you with new and challenging workouts to improve stroke technique, endurance, speed, and strength.
Develop basic swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before or have prior experience. Participants should be able to swim at minimum 1 length of the pool.

Swim Testing All swimmers under 18 need to be swim tested in order to use the deep end of the pool. Swim test includes swimming 25 yards in a horizontal position, jumping into deep water, and treading water for 30 seconds. Swimmers who do not pass or choose not to take it must remain in the shallow end. Children under 10 years of age or shorter than 50 inches must wear a U.S. Coast guard PFD. Swimmers who are in the pool with parents at arm’s length may be excused of using a PFD. Anyone under the age of 7, regardless of ability, must be within arm’s reach of an adult at all times. Lifeguards have the right to retest swimmers.
Swim Teams Little Piranhas:
A swim class specifically designed for swimmers who wish to join a swim team in the future. Taught by experienced aquatic instructors with a competitive swim background. Little Piranhas will prepare children for the swim team through stroke drills, endurance sets, flip turns, and race starts. For those of Youth Level 5 and 6 ability who are looking for a more competitive next step.

Youth Basketball Association Nov 3 - Feb 23 (17 Weeks) F: $150 M: $190 N: $250 All divisions use age-appropriate basketballs and hoop settings while focused on fair play and fun. Volunteer coaches will guide players through skill development during alternating weeks of games and practices/scrimmages. Players may request a buddy or coach but teams will be capped at 10 players on a first-come, firstserve basis. Registration will close October 14th. By completing this 11 week, two times per week, program, you will be ready to run the YMCA of Metro North’s annual Half-Marathon! Our trainer will bring you, and a small group of your peers, through the steps needed to build endurance, increase speed, and work towards completion of our Half-Marathon on Nov. 17th. Whether you want to complete the race on your own or run as a relay, this will give you the advantage you need to stay ahead of the competition! Policies Program Registration & Closure Policies In order to receive member rates for programs, your membership must be current throughout the entire program session. If it expires during the session and you do not renew your membership, you will be charged an additional fee to bring the total cost of the program to the non-member rate.
WAIT LIST POLICY
CREDITS AND REFUNDS
If a program is full, you may request to be placed on the waitlist. You will make no payment until accepted into the program. The program director will contact you to inform you of your acceptance into the class. You will have 24 hours to contact us, if we do not hear from you, your name will be removed from the wait list and the spot will go to the next person on the wait list. Your spot is not accepted/secured unless payment is received. Please be sure we have your correct address, email, and phone number to contact you.
The YMCA may cancel a class due to unforeseen events, I.e. safety concerns, weather, building closures, etc. The YMCA will make every effort to make up the cancelled class, however, in the event the class cannot be made up, a system credit will be issued.

CLOSURE POLICY It is the policy of the YMCA of Metro North to remain regularly scheduled hours during inclement weather. However, if the safety of our members and staff is in question, we may close the building and/or cancel classes. If this is the case and fee based classes are cancelled you will be offered a make-up class at an alternate date. Full closure details will be posted on Facebook and a phone message will be available by calling the Welcome Center as soon as a decision is made. Please contact us if you have any questions and continue to check our Facebook page for updates.
Credits and Refunds • If the YMCA cancels a program, a full refund will be processed. • If notification of withdrawal is received 48 hours or more prior to the first class, a YMCA credit or full refund will be processed. • If notification of withdrawal is received less than 48 hours prior to the first class, a YMCA credit will be issued. • If notification of withdrawal is received between the first and second class, a YMCA credit will be issued minus the cost of the class already held. • There are no refunds after the 2nd scheduled class. • Make up classes or refunds are not available for classes missed by participant due to personal conflict. • If a cancellation is due to a medical issue, a doctor’s note must be provided in order for a refund to be processed.
