AQUATICS INFORMATION

PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONS

PRESCHOOL SWIM

Swim Level Placement:

30 minute classes F: $39 M: $63 N: $84

40 minute classes F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

Parent/Child 1: 6-18 months (w/ parent)

Pike: ages 3-6

Parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking/pulling and water independence for children. Swim diaper must be worn. Mon: 12:00pm Sat: 10:00am

This class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Children will have a level 4 or fully inflated bubble. Mon: 12:45, 5:40pm Tue: 11:15am Wed: 3:30pm, 5:40pm Sat: 9:00am, 10:45am Sun: 9:00am, 10:40am

Swim evaluations can be made at any time for anyone unsure of their current level or for participants new to YMCA of Metro North swim lessons. Please contact Debra Jimenez, Aquatics Director, at djimenez@metronorthymca.org or at 781-581-3105 x232 for more information.

Aquatics Regulations:

Per health code regulations, all swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the pool. All swimmers are also required to wear swim caps when in the pool.

Refunds:

Refunds must be requested within the first week of each session. Payment is nonrefundable after the first week.

Parent/Child 2: 19-36 months (w/ parent) Toddlers are introduced to submerging, kicking and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without flotation. Swim diaper must be worn for children not potty trained. Fri: 11:45am Sat: 10:30am

Make-Up Classes:

Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, the class is missed. If the Y cannot schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided for the missed class.

Open and Family Swim:

Please visit us in person or online at ymcametronorth.org for information regarding open and/or family swim time. For a full list of pool rules and policies, please refer to the back side of the pool schedule or our website. Current pool schedules can be found in person at the welcome center or online as well.

Group Swim Lessons:

Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers will be combined with another class.

Observation Policy:

Parents/visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session due to limited space. Any classes falling in between the first and last class of each session, will require parents/visitors to remain off deck, or in the waiting area by the pool. Pictures and/ or videos of any sort are currently not allowed while the lesson is taking place.

Parent/Child 3: ages 3-4 The final step in our Parent/Child series. In addition to beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will also be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and prepare to be independent to join our preschool swimming classes without an adult. Sat: 11:00am Sun: 10:00am

Eel: ages 3-6 Flotation based introduction to the major 4 swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Prerequisite: Able to paddle independently, float on their back with a flotation device and put face under the water. Children will have a level 3 bubble. Tue: 5:40pm Thu: 12:00pm, 3:30pm Fri: 4:45pm Sat: 11:30am Sun: 11:30am

Ray: ages 3-6 Skippers: ages 2.9-3 This class will help transition students to being in a full Pike class. Parents are not required to be in the pool, though may join in to help with transition on instructors recommendation. Sat: 11:00am Sun: 10:00am

Learn rotary breathing and improve stamina for swimming strokes. Class goal is to eliminate flotation completely and swim independently. Swimmers bubbles should be no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Able to swim 10 feet or more without flotation and fully submerge their head. Mon: 3:50pm Wed: 10:00am Fri: 4:00pm Sun: 10:40am
