PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONS

Parent/Child 1: 6-18 months (w/ parent)
Pike: ages 3-6
Parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking/pulling and water independence for children. Swim diaper must be worn. Mon: 12:00pm Sat: 10:00am
This class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Children will have a level 4 or fully inflated bubble. Mon: 12:45, 5:40pm Tue: 11:15am Wed: 3:30pm, 5:40pm Sat: 9:00am, 10:45am Sun: 9:00am, 10:40am

Aquatics Regulations:
Per health code regulations, all swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the pool. All swimmers are also required to wear swim caps when in the pool.
Refunds:
Refunds must be requested within the first week of each session. Payment is nonrefundable after the first week.
Parent/Child 2: 19-36 months (w/ parent) Toddlers are introduced to submerging, kicking and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without flotation. Swim diaper must be worn for children not potty trained. Fri: 11:45am Sat: 10:30am
Make-Up Classes:
Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, the class is missed. If the Y cannot schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided for the missed class.
Open and Family Swim:
Please visit us in person or online at ymcametronorth.org for information regarding open and/or family swim time. For a full list of pool rules and policies, please refer to the back side of the pool schedule or our website. Current pool schedules can be found in person at the welcome center or online as well.
Group Swim Lessons:
Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers will be combined with another class.
Observation Policy:
Parents/visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session due to limited space. Any classes falling in between the first and last class of each session, will require parents/visitors to remain off deck, or in the waiting area by the pool. Pictures and/ or videos of any sort are currently not allowed while the lesson is taking place.
Parent/Child 3: ages 3-4 The final step in our Parent/Child series. In addition to beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will also be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and prepare to be independent to join our preschool swimming classes without an adult. Sat: 11:00am Sun: 10:00am
Eel: ages 3-6 Flotation based introduction to the major 4 swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Prerequisite: Able to paddle independently, float on their back with a flotation device and put face under the water. Children will have a level 3 bubble. Ray: ages 3-6 Skippers: ages 2.9-3 This class will help transition students to being in a full Pike class. Parents are not required to be in the pool, though may join in to help with transition on instructors recommendation. Sat: 11:00am Sun: 10:00am
Learn rotary breathing and improve stamina for swimming strokes. Class goal is to eliminate flotation completely and swim independently. Swimmers bubbles should be no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Able to swim 10 feet or more without flotation and fully submerge their head. Mon: 3:50pm Wed: 10:00am Fri: 4:00pm Sun: 10:40am

OST & Youth Center Lessons:
Introduction to front crawl with alternating arm recovery, rhythmic breathing and combined stroke on back will be taught. Children can swim a length of the pool on their front and back at the end of this level. Prerequisite: Swimmer must be able to swim the width of 3 lanes without flotation. Swimmers must swim half the length of the pool without assistance and submerge their face in the water to enter this class. They are introduced to the basics of the major four swim strokes in addition to rotary breathing. Mon: 3:00pm Wed: 4:15pm Fri: 3:15pm Sat: 10:00am, 12:15pm Sun: 12:30pm

Fish: ages 6+ These swimmers can swim 2 lengths of each stroke: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, and Rudimentary Breaststroke. They should have a concept of the Breaststroke kick. Mon: 5:45pm Fri: 3:50pm Sat: 1:00pm

Teen Learn to Swim: FREE! Embrace in what the Lynn Y has to offer and learn to swim today. This class will teach basic swimming skills as well as water safety. Participants can take advantage of this class only once. Tue: 4:15pm Sun: 4:15pm
Breed Swim Lessons: FREE!
Private Lessons: Private lessons are available upon request for members only. If interested, please submit a request form located at the Welcome Center. All private/ semi private classes are 30 minutes. Private Lessons: Semi-Private Lessons: (individual) (2-3 swimmers) *Semi-Private lessons are for a maximum of 3 swimmers. Pricing is total for all swimmers.
6th-8th graders A continuation of our swim lessons for Breed Middle School students. The Lynn YMCA is dedicated to teaching Breed Middle School students how to swim! These classes are designed for beginner swimmers. Class skills will include basic swimming skills as well as water safety. *Participants must present a valid school ID when registering. LYNN YMCA AQUATICS AQUATICS PROGRAMS Lifeguard Training Ages 16+ | 60 minute class M: FREE N: $10 (one time payment) Have you ever thought of becoming a lifeguard? We will work with your swimming capabilities to get you “rescue ready� for summer 2017! Participants will be trained and certified to work for the YMCA of Metro North as well as DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation) sites. This is a great opportunity to become a stronger swimmer, learn new skills, and diversify the lifeguard workforce! The certification course occurs separately and will be held Spring 2017. Fall/Winter certification is available for those who qualify. *Must be 16 by May 2017 to qualify. Registration is required for participation. Mon: 4:30pm Wed: 4:30pm Fri: 4:30pm
Swim Team: 60 minutes M: $30 N: $60 The Lynn YMCA swim team is a competitive environment for swimmers looking to continue building their swimming skills in a team format. The team focuses on stroke development, technique, and racing starts/ turns. Prerequisite: Swimmers must be able to demonstrate strength in swimming. They must be able to swim at least 2 lengths of the pool, have knowledge of all 4 strokes, and have the desire to commit to the team. Mon: 6:00pm (dry land training) Tue 6:30pm Sat: 1:30pm
Water Fitness: FREE!

Lifeguarding and CPR Classes:
40 minute class F: $39 M: $60 N: $85 These classes are designed for swimmers interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming taught in a team format. The focus of the program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts/ turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke without assistance and tread water for one minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles. 60 minute class A low impact, high energy water workout that combines the philosophy and fun of Zumba with water resistance. Fri: 9:15am
Water Resistance Training: FREE! 60 minute class This class is a great workout that combines interval aerobic training and resistance exercises in the water led by a certified water fitness instructor/personal trainer. This class will increase muscle strength and make bones stronger. This is a great calorie burning, low impact way to exercise. Tue: 6:30pm Thu: 6:30pm

Men’s Basketball League: $75 per player Whether you miss “suiting up” or you just want to keep your skills sharp, the Lynn YMCA’s Adult Basketball Leagues provide you the perfect opportunity to stay active, be social and engage in the sport you love. All games are played on a regulation full court gym with patched refs. Registration fee includes team jersey. Teams will have 7-9 members. The YMCA of Metro North and the Torigian Family YMCA are excited to announce the first annual YMCA of Metro North Half Marathon, the only half marathon in Peabody. The race will start at Lt. Ross Park (Cy Tenney) and proceed north on the Independence Parkway into West Peabody, winding through local neighborhoods before ultimately finishing back at Lt. Ross Park.
