PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONS 30 minute classes F: $39 M: $63 N: $84

Parent/Child 1: 6-18 months (w/ parent) Parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking/pulling and water independence for children. Swim diaper must be worn. Sat: 10:00am

Parent/Child 2: 19-36 months (w/ parent) Toddlers are introduced to submerging, kicking and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without flotation. Swim diaper must be worn for children not potty trained. Sat: 10:30am

Parent/Child 3: 3-4 years The final step in our Parent/Child series. In addition to beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will also be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and prepare to be independent to join our preschool swimming classes without an adult. Sat: 11:00am

Skippers: 2.9-3 years This class will help transition students to being in a full Pike class. Parents are not required to be in the pool, though may join in to help with transition on instructors recommendation. Sun: 10:00am

PRESCHOOL SWIM 40 minute classes F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

Pike: 3-6 years This class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Children will have a level 4 or fully inflated bubble. Mon: 12:00pm, 5:40pm Tue: 11:00am Wed: 3:00pm Sat: 10:45am Sun: 10:40am

Eel: 3-6 years Flotation based introduction to the major

4 swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Prerequisite: Able to paddle independently, float on their back with a flotation device and put face under the water. Children will have a level 3 bubble. Tue: 5:00pm Thu: 11:00am, 3:00pm Fri: 4:45pm Sat: 11:30am Sun: 11:30am

Ray: 3-6 years Learn rotary breathing and improve stamina for swimming strokes. Class goal is to eliminate flotation completely and swim independently. Swimmers bubbles should be no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Able to swim 10 feet or more without flotation and fully submerge their head. Thu: 5:15pm Fri: 5:30pm Sun: 10:00am

Star Fish: 3-6 years Introduction to front crawl with alternating arm recovery, rhythmic breathing and combined stroke on back will be taught. Children can swim a length of the pool on their front and back at the end of this level. Prerequisite: Swimmer must be able to swim the width of 3 lanes without flotation. Bubbles will not be allowed in this class. Tue: 5:40pm Fri: 4:00pm Sat: 10:00am Sun: 9:15am

Polliwog: 8+ years This class is for the child who has little or no experience. Guppy: 6+ years Swimmers must swim half the length of the pool without assistance and submerge their face in the water to enter this class. They are introduced to the basics of the major four swim strokes in addition to rotary breathing. Mon: 3:00pm Wed: 3:50pm Sat: 10:00am, 12:15pm Sun: 12:30pm

Minnow: 6+ years Swimmers must swim 1 length of front crawl with rhythmic breathing and 1 length of backstroke to enter this class. The children refine the lead up strokes they have learned as their strokes become more developed. Mon: 4:00pm Thu: 3:50pm Sat: 10:00am

Fish: 6+ years

YOUTH SWIM 40 minute classes F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

Polliwog Junior: 6-7 years This class is for the child who has little or no experience. Jumping, bobbing, floating, kicking and gliding will be introduced, along with reaching, pulling and breathing control as the child becomes independent of the flotation devices. A noodle may be used for flotation. Mon: 5:00pm Tue: 3:00pm Thu: 4:30pm Fri: 4:40pm

These swimmers can swim 2 lengths of each stroke: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, and Rudimentary Breaststroke. They should have a concept of the Breaststroke kick. Mon: 5:00pm Fri: 3:00pm Sat: 9:00am

13-17 years | 40 minute classes Free for all teens!

Lifeguard Training: 15+ years

Teen Learn to Swim: Embrace in what the Lynn Y has to offer and learn to swim today. This class will teach basic swimming skills as well as water safety. Participants can take advantage of this class only once. Tue: 4:30pm Thu: 4:30pm Sun: 9:00am

ADULT SWIM 18+ years | 40 minute classes M: $55 N: $105

Adult Beginner: Adults will learn basic swimming skills in a low pressure class. Swimmers will build confidence and learn the fundamentals of aquatic safety. Tue: 8:15am Wed: 5:30pm Thu: 12:15pm Sat: 9:00am Sun: 1:15pm

M: Free N: $10 | 60 minute class Have you ever thought of becoming a lifeguard? We will work with your swimming capabilities to get you “rescue ready” by summer 2016! Participants will be trained and certified to work for the YMCA of Metro North as well as DCR (department of conservation and recreation) sites. This is a great opportunity to become a stronger swimmer and learn new skills! The certification course will be held April 17-23, 2016. “Swimmers may certify before April 17 upon successful completion of lifeguard course prerequisites. Lynn YMCA and DCR opportunities will also be offered in advance upon participant certification. Mon: 4:30pm Wed: 4:30pm Fri: 5:30pm

Pre-Team Fins Program:

Develop basic swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before enrolling in stroke development. Tue: 5:40pm Thu: 8:15am Sun: 9:00am

F: $39 M: $60 N: $85 | 40 minute class These classes are designed for swimmers interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming taught in a team format. The focus of the program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts/ turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke without assistance and tread water for one minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles. Mon: 3:30pm (Little Fins 4-6 years) Wed: 3:30pm (Jr. Fins 7-9 years) Sat: 1:00pm (Sr. Fins 10-14 years)

Water Fitness 60 minute class All year long, no registration required! These classes are low impact water workouts that combine interval training and strengthening exercises for the entire body. Mon-Fri: 9:15am Mon-Thu: 6:30pm

Aqua Zumba 60 minute class A low impact, high energy water workout that combines the philosophy and fun of Zumba with water resistance. Fri: 9:15am

Water Resistance Training 60 minute class This class is a great workout that combines interval aerobic training to burn calories and resistance exercises to build muscle in the water led by a certified water fitness instructor/personal trainer. Tue: 6:30pm Thu: 6:30pm

M: $30/session N: $65/session The Lynn YMCA swim team is a competitive environment for swimmers looking to continue building their swimming skills in a team format. The team focuses on stroke development, technique, and racing starts/ turns. Prerequisite: Swimmers must be able to demonstrate strength in swimming. They must be able to swim at least 2 lengths of the pool, have knowledge of all 4 strokes, and have the desire to commit to the team. Mon: 7:30pm Sat: 1:00pm

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Kids Night Out: M: $5-$15 | 2 hour event Let your child stay late on a Friday night to enjoy a themed evening of activities from 6:00-8:00pm, supervised by our youth staff. Permission slips are available and must be returned in advance. A light dinner is included. Fri: 6:00pm

GPA Study Group:

3rd-12th graders | 60 minute class Tutors are present to assist with school work and academic skill development. Activities related to improving reading, writing, computer and communication skills are included in this program. Computer access is available. The program runs when school is in session. Participants must commit to coming at least 3 sessions per week for at least 6 months. Mon-Thu: 6:00pm

Leaders Club:

Middle School Age | 3 hour event This program is focused on service learning and leadership development. Leaders club is a middle school aged after-school dropin program that is free with a membership. Organized activities include: leadership development, community service and service learning, music studio, team building, fitness activities, mentoring, fun games, sports, swim and field trips. The Youth will move through the YMCA between activities without direct supervision. Mon-Fri: 3:00pm

YOUTH /TEEN ENRICHMENT Kid’s Healthy Kitchen & Cafe:

10-18 years See Welcome Center for more information! Youth have fun learning about nutrition and healthy eating while making delicious snacks in our Kids Kitchen Café. The program runs when school is in session.

Kaya:

13-18 years | 2 hour class “Kaya” is a Khmer/Cambodian word meaning “body” and “character.” Our mission is to “SPARK the POWER of YOUTH to GENERATE POSITIVE CHANGE. We strive to accomplish the

mission through youth-led events, interactive workshops, film screenings, and creative expression. Activities focus on Healthy Living (fitness and health), Social Responsibility (volunteering and community events), and Youth Development (academic support, team building and social skills). YOUTH/TEEN MUSIC & DANCE Lynn Music Studio Clubhouse:

LOL Open Mic:

High School Students Open Mic Nights and Talent Nights that are just for high school students. You can show your talents by beatboxing, playing an instrument, singing, spoken word, monologs, etc., the possibilities are endless. Come express yourself in a judge-free zone! YOUTH/TEEN SPORTS Beginners Soccer:

5-7 years | 50 minute class See welcome center for pricing. Come learn the fundamentals of soccer. Enhance footwork, improve ball control, increase field awareness, and learn the rules of the game. Sun: 11:00am

Track Stars:

9-14 years | 50 minute class Free for members! Learn how to train and run like a track star! Each week you can challenge yourself to beat your personal best time. Learn to improve your running form and breathing technique. Our team competes in local 5k’s. Thu: 5:00pm

High School Students | 60 minute class Free for members! This is an informal league that allows for you to keep up your skills, learn some new skills and have a great time. Thu: 6:00pm

TEAM TRAINING CHALLENGE Get in shape for the summer with our resultsdriven 8 week program. Team up with other participants, a trainer and a nutritionist to bring your wellness to the next level! You and your teammates will be guided through an 8 week fitness and nutrition program that will be fun, motivating and challenging.
