AQUATICS INFORMATION Swim Level Placement:

Placement evaluations can be made at any time for anyone unsure of their current swim level. For more information, please contact Aquatics Director Debra Jimenez at djimenez@metronorthymca.org or (781) 581-3105 extension 732.

Regulations:

Per state health code regulations, all swimmers must shower prior to entering the pool. While in the pool, all swimmers are required to wear swim caps (Lynn Branch specific rule). Only swim wear designed to be in water may be worn.

Refunds:

Refunds must be requested within the first week of each session. Payment is non-refundable after the first week.

Make Up Classes:

Parents and visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session. All other classes will be closed to spectators. Pictures and videos are strictly prohibited in the pool area.

PARENT/ CHILD SWIM LESSON Ages 6 Months - 4 Years F: $39 M: $63 N: $84

Parent/Child1: 6-18 months

Children learn the very basics of swimming while parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking, pulling and water independence for children. Swim diapers must be worn. Mon: 12:00pm-12:30pm Sat: 10:00am-10:30am Sun: 9:30am-10:00am

Parent/Child 2: 19 - 36 months

Inclement Weather:

Fri: 11:45am-12:15pm Sat: 10:30am-11:00am Sun: 10:00am-10:30am

Open and Family Swim:

For information regarding open and/or family swim times please refer to our pool schedule. Current pool schedules can be found at the welcome center or online at www. ymcametronorth.org. For a full list of pool policies, please refer to the reverse side of the pool schedule or our website.

Group Swim Lessons:

Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers in order to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers signed up will be combined with another class or cancelled.

Observation Policy:

Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If the YMCA is unable to schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, there will be no make-up or refund for that class. If the Lynn Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, swim classes will also be cancelled.

Membership Guide:

Children are introduced to submerging, kicking, and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without a flotation device. Swim diapers must be worn for participants who are not potty trained.

Parent/Child 3: Ages 3-4

Beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and will prepare to join our independent swimming classes (without an adult). Sat: 11:00am-11:30am Sun: 10:00am-10:30am

Skippers: Ages 2.9 - 3

This class helps children transition smoothly from the Parent/Child series to Independent swim courses. Parents are not required to be in the pool, but may join in to help with transition upon the instructor’s recommendation. Sat: 11:00am-11:30am Sun: 10:00am-10:30am

INDEPENDENT SWIM Ages 3 - 5 | F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

Pike:

For children who have little or no water experience. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Children will use a level 4 bubble. Mon: 5:40pm-6:20pm Wed: 4:45pm-5:25pm, 5:40pm-6:20pm Sat: 9:00am-9:40am, 10:45am-11:25am Sun: 9:00am-9:40am, 10:40am-11:20am

Eel:

This class will use flotation based instruction to introduce four major swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Children will use a level 3 bubble. Prerequisite: Pike class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. Tue: 5:40pm-6:20pm Fri: 4:45pm-5:25pm Sat: 11:30am-12:10pm Sun: 11:30am-12:10pm

Ray:

In this class, swimmers learn rotary breathing and to improve stamina for swimming strokes. The class goal is to eliminate flotation devices completely and swim independently. Swimmers should use no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Eel class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. Fri: 5:30pm-6:10pm Sat: 12:30pm-1:10pm Sun: 10:40am-11:20am

Star Fish:

This class is an introduction to the front crawl with alternating arm recovery and rhythmic breathing. The backstroke will also be taught. At the end, participants will be able to swim the length of the pool on their front and back. Prerequisite: Ray class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director.
