Adult Swim - 7 Week Session Adult Beginner Swim Lessons

Adult Swim Training Club

This is the place to start for those who do not have a lot of prior swimming experience. Participants will become more confident in both shallow and deep water by learning skills such as water movement, floating, and treading

For both beginners and advanced swimmers seeking to improve their technique and overall fitness. This program will provide participants with new and challenging workouts to improve stroke technique, endurance, speed, and strength. Meets 2x/week.

Develop basic knowledge of all swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before or have prior experience. Swim Testing

Not sure what stage to sign your child up for? Come in for a swim evaluation. Please contact our Welcome Center at (978) 977-9622 or email Andrew Lamson, Sr. Aquatics Director, at alamson@metronorthymca.org.

All swimmers under 18 need to be swim tested in order to use the deep end of the pool. Swim test includes swimming 25 yards in a horizontal position, jumping into deep water, and treading water for 30 seconds. Swimmers who do not pass or choose not to take it must remain in the shallow end. Children under 10 years of age or shorter than 50 inches must wear a U.S. Coast Guard personal flotation device (PFD). Swimmers who are in the pool with parents at arm’s length may be excused of using a PFD. Anyone under the age of 7, regardless of ability, must be within arm’s reach of an adult at all times. Lifeguards reserve the right to retest swimmers.

Private Lessons Private lessons are a great way to learn to swim or improve stroke techniques. Each lesson lasts 30 minutes. To register, fill out the online request form located at : http://www.ymcametronorth.org/aquatics/private-swim-lessons-request-form/ Private 1 Class 4 Classes 6 Classes

Swim Team Triton Swim Team: Triton Swim Team is for swimmers ages 6-18. The swim team practices from September through February. There are varying days and times for practices. For more information, contact: Benjamin Allis at ballis@metronorthymca.org. Tryouts: August 21 & August 23 6pm – 8pm

Competitive Swim Prep 7 Week Session 45 Minutes | Ages 6+ F: $85 M: $145 N: $214

A swim class designed for kids who are interested in joining the swim team or pre team swim team. In this class kids will learn endurance, flip turns, swimming starts and all four strokes. This class is ideal for those who are not ready to join the pre team or swim team. Swimmers must be stage 5 or 6 eligible and have director approval. Competitive Swim Prep

Specialty Youth Swim - 7 Week Session Beginner Springboard Diving

Adaptive Swim Academy

Learn the basics of competitive diving. Divers must be able to pass the deep end swim test and do a forward dive from the side of the pool.

This class provides basic swim skills and teaches essential water safety techniques with the needs of each individual. Participant must begin the session accompanied by an adult in the water. This course is taught by special education teacher and Adaptive Aquatics Specialist Rachel Ellyson M. Ed.

Advanced Springboard Adaptive Swim

Certification Classes Lifeguard Blended Certification Class: Ages 15+ | $350

Students will be trained in the nationally recognized American Red Cross Lifeguard Course including CPR Pro, First Aid, and AED. Certification of online blended learning, in person skill sessions, and 2 comprehensive written exams. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the final day of class. Students must be able to provide proof of online completion prior to the first day of class. We also offer additional certification for those who are interested in working at beaches, lakes or ponds. For more information contact Andrew Lamson at alamson@metronorthymca.org.

Creative Movement 45 Minutes | Ages 2.5-5

Children will be introduced to a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, tee-ball, floor hockey, and many others.

A joyful way for children to explore movement through music, dance, and yoga, while allowing them to express themselves creatively in their own way!

This class focuses on the fundamentals of the game while developing both teamwork and individual skills.

Enjoy painting, watercolors, chalk, play dough, glitter, and glue. Wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.

Learn to drive, chip, and putt in this introduction to one of the oldest games, Golf! Kids can bring their own clubs or use ones provided by the Y.

Soccer 45 Minutes

Learn the fundamentals of the world’s most popular sport in a fun and supportive environment while developing both teamwork and individual skills.

Running Club 45 Minutes

Runners will log laps in our indoor track or through campground trails while learning basics of calisthenics, endurance, pace, and proper running and stretching technique.

Meet new friends and enjoy having lunch while the kids can play in tunnels, on gym mats, enjoy basketball, soccer, balance beams, our bounce house and more! You bring the lunches and we supply the fun.

Strength Circuit for Women

This beginner yoga series is perfect for anyone who is new to yoga or would like to create a solid foundation for deepening their yoga practice. In this series, you will be introduced to the core yoga poses that make up a flow class. Each week we will breakdown a series of yoga poses focusing on breath, safe sequencing, and alignment, while gaining confidence to take any yoga flow class.

BACK 2 SCHOOL, BACK 2 YOU FITNESS CHALLENGE

Not sure how to plan your weight training? Melissa, a Certified Personal Trainer, will take you through a comprehensive weight training session once a week. Work on proper form and mind muscle connection. Learn about body part training splits to get the most out of weight training.

Kettlebell Training

60 Minutes | M: $87 N: $195 Join this once a week, dynamic, full body workout program where you build strength and tone muscle using just a kettlebell. You will learn new and creative exercises to target each area of your body. This program is great for any age or fitness level.
