Over the course of this summer we look forward to providing each child with a safe, fun and educational experience that will create memories that will last a lifetime. We pride ourselves on offering a camp for any interest your child may have, and we hope you find the information enclosed in this guide helpful in highlighting our wide variety of options. WELCOME TO Y CAMP! For many generations, YMCA Camp Spindrift and the Cape Ann Y has been a magical part of summer for thousands of local children. It’s a place where kids try new activities, learn skills and develop cherished memories that last a lifetime. We’re a tight knit family of staff, alumni and campers dedicated to bringing out the best in each child. We work hard to create a setting where all children feel safe exploring the world around them. Making new friendships and renewing the old is what keeps all of us coming back year after year! The YMCA of the North Shore makes registering and paying for camp easy and convenient. Parents can register in person, at the front desk or online, and can choose from one of the three following payment methods: •
Pay in full at the time of registration.

Enroll in our automatic payment plan for weekly camp billing using either a credit/ debit card or bank account. Never worry about remembering to pay! Secure your spot with a $25 deposit which can be credited for other camps or programs up until 8 days prior to the start of the camp session.

SAFETY & SECURITY: OUR PROMISE
Cape Ann YMCA camps meet or exceed the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and are licensed by the local board of health. We conduct background checks on all staff and volunteers. All families have the right to ask about Cape Ann YMCA Camp Staff background checks.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Y summer camps are for everyone— regardless of income. The Y provides financial assistance for families who are unable to pay the full camp fee. Subsidies are available thanks to the generous support of Annual Campaign donors and United Way contributions. Contact your local Y or visit our website at www.northshoreymca.org for a confidential financial assistance application or to make a contribution. Applications should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp session to allow for processing.

SPINDRIFT FRESH-LUNCH OPTION We have, once-again, partnered with the fine folks at ANNIE’S VARIETY to make fresh, high-quality lunches available daily to campers. Choices will vary and may be ordered weekly or “by the day”. Lunch includes deli sandwich, chips, handheld fruit, dessert snack and beverage. Fee: $6 (sm) or $8 (lg) daily
YMCA Camp Spindrift provides quality traditional day camping experiences that aim to help children grow in spirit, mind and body. All programs are designed to teach the positive values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility. Each Camp Unit has a section of Spindrift to call their own. Camper groups participate though out the day in regularly scheduled activities, as well as interacting frequently with other camp groups. The quality of your child’s experience is our top priority. Generations of campers have grown up through the varied and enriching programs of Camp Spindrift. Your child will cherish lifelong memories of swimming, kayaking, archery, games, sports, campfires, crafts, themed weeks and more. Our staff are carefully chosen and trained to provide your child with a safe, fun and rewarding summer. Spindrift L.I.T. (Leader In Training) Camp
Ages: 14-16 years, co-ed Session length: One week, Monday-Friday Sessions Offered: 00-09 Time: Full Day, 9:00am-4:00pm This program is a fine opportunity for our older campers to continue the great summer fun. LITs will not only together participate in a variety of fun and educational activities, develop specific camp projects, but will be skillfully guided as they assist with-in younger camper groups. Super Hero Week Super Hero fun! Counselors and campers participate together in a fun Super Hero pageant, play together for prizes, celebrate the existing Super Heroes and help create new ones!

Weird Science! & Gloucester Horribles Parade From microbes to robotics and from plants to planets, we’ll be exploring the world around us and together learn through our shared experiences. You’ll have the option to join our float for an appearance in the parade!

Trip to CANOBIE LAKE PARK & Wild Wild West! Turkish Twist or Teacups – your call! (Trip on Thursday). Howdy Pardner! Mosey on over for a spell, ya-hear? We’ll be ropin’ cattle, square-dancing and keepin’ on the lookout for Stinky Pete, the grumpiest hombre’ to ever step foot in the Okee Dokee Corral. Campfire cooking, s’mores and stories!

Carnival / Circus & Medieval Days and Family Night Fun, food, prizes, inflatable moon bounce, giant inflatable obstacle course, dunk tank, games galore and more fun than you can shake a stick at! Back again this year, our world-famous GIANT ICE SLIDE! THURSAY FAMILY NIGHT

Olympics Week, Watermelon Fest & Family Overnight A traditional Spindrift favorite…Let the games begin!…What “country” will take the gold this year?... and the option for your family to “rough it” in the deep woods & wilderness of West Gloucester. FRIDAY FAMILY OVERNIGHT (optional).

Trip to WATER COUNTRY & Water World Aqua Fun for all! (Trip on Thursday). We’ll transform to “Splashdown Splashtown” this week with all the water- and-mud-fun anyone can handle.

Harry Potter Week & Camper Overnights Love the world of Harry Potter? Who doesn’t?! We’ll be crushing it this week with all sorts of Hogwarts Hoopla! Quidditch, Spells (like our traditional “No Bones” and “Cheese Touch”) and costumes! Also, we’ll be having our camper overnights! WED/THU/ OR FRI CAMPER OVERNIGHTS

Pirate Week & Family Night & Spindrift Idol Arrrgghhh Matey! A full-week of treasures! Groups will make-up their own sea-chantys, follow the map for hidden treasure, learn the lore, develop pirate-skills and more – the week ends with our traditional Pirate Ship Regatta! We’ll have our Spindrift Idol talent show on Thursday with a handful of the “Top Acts” invited to perform at our Family Night that evening! THU FAMILY NIGHT.

Trip to CANOBIE LAKE PARK and Tales, Fables & Myths! A trip so good – we’re taking it twice this year! Turkish Twist or Teacups – your call! (Trip on Thursday). We’ll fill out the week with tall tales, local legends & lore, a little cryptozoology and a perhaps even a visit from Bigfoot or Eddie-the-Yeti himself!

Color Games / Goldfish Swim / S’morefest High energy fun and frivolity, our annual goldfish swim contest, all-camp soccer, S’More experimentation, Rick’s Annual Cartwheel and more!

Spindrift Adventure-Wilderness Warrior
Ready for adventure that is pure fun? Join us at Sky-Zone where you’ll bounce off the walls in a room full of trampolines and even play trampoline dodgeball! Boost your confidence at the Metro Rock Climbing Gym in Newburyport the Beverly Y Challenge and High Ropes Course! We’ll also go to Amesbury Sports Park; where you’ll get a chance to summer-tube down the slopes and go “zorbing” in an OGO ball (check it out on YouTube!). As if that’s not enough, we’ll also join the rest of Spindrift at Canobie Lake Park.
Do you have what it takes for this week-long wilderness challenge? Hike one of New Hampshire’s beautiful White Mountains and stay overnight at an AMC Lodge. Rock climb at the Metro Rock Climbing Gym in Newburyport. Challenge yourself on the Challenge Course and High Ropes Course at the Beverly Y. Sharpen your archery skills at the Spindrift Archery Course. We’ll also join the rest of Spindrift on a special trip to Water Country!

Whitewater Raft 10 miles of the Deerfield River on Class I-III rapids, excellent for first-time rafters or returning rafters. Have the time of your life Stand Up Paddle-boarding with Cape Ann SUP, Sea Kayaking the ocean, and practicing archery. Climb at the Metro Rock Climbing Gym in Newburyport and challenge yourself at the Beverly Y’s Challenge Course and High Ropes Course.

Spindrift Adventure-Sky High
Ages: 8-15 years, co-ed Session length: One week, Monday-Friday Session Offered: 05 Time: Full Day, 9:00am-4:00pm Max Enrollment: 22 Campers Here’s your chance to try Trapeze at the New York Trapeze School in Boston - swing through the air, hang off the bar from your knees, fly to the hands of a catcher and flip to dismount. Also challenge yourself at the Beverly Y’s Challenge Course and High Ropes Course. Climb to new heights while rock climbing at the Metro Rock Climbing Gym in Newburyport and ascending the 55’ high Vertical Playground at Camp Tricklin’ Falls in New Hampshire. You will also get a chance to push yourself at group trust games, practice your archery skills and see breath taking views of Boston after a hike of the Blue Hills.

Spindrift Adventure-Adrenaline Rush
Ages: 8-15 years, co-ed Session length: One week, Monday-Friday Session Offered: 07 Time: Full Day 9:00am-4:00pm, plus an extended day for zip line tour Max Enrollment: 22 Campers Can’t get enough of heart-pumping, adrenaline racing adventure? Take the Treetop Canopy Zip Line Tour with Alpine Adventures. Zip on 6 separate ziplines ranging from 150 - 1,000 feet long and traverse 3 suspension bridges, including a 60’ high, 75’ long burma bridge spanning “Barron Gorge” and the new suspended Log Bridge. You’ll also push your limits rock climbing at the Metro Rock Climbing Gym in Newburyport, canoeing the Ipswich River, practicing Archery, playing group trust games, balancing on the Beverly Y’s Challenge Course and High Ropes Course and ascending the 55’ high vertical playground at YMCA Camp Tricklin’ Falls in New Hampshire. Participants must be at least 70lbs to go on the zip line tour. One Week Fee: $315

CAMP WINDWARD Camp Windward Camp Windward is a great way for kids to spend their summer enjoying all the Y has to offer! Children who participate in Camp Windward will spend the day touring the City of Gloucester and learning about it’s history. The kids will also have the opportunity to use the gymnastics center, the gym, and our pool. Kids will also spend part of the day creating fun crafts that go along with our weekly themes! Science projects will be a new addition to our Camp this summer. We will have projects such as solar ovens, trips to the Gloucester Maritime Museum, and more fun activities on a daily basis. Our goal for this summer is to be outside in our beautiful city as much as possible as well as incorporating curriculum with art and science projects! Camp Windward is the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor activities!

Campers will experience all the Y has to offer including gymnastics, gym, swim, and crafts! Our weekly themes are integrated into the activities each week at Camp Windward. Camp Windward Seniors

The seniors go out to explore our great city of Gloucester every day! They explore the beaches for sea glass, play basketball at the fort. Through hands on learning activities, kids will have a better understanding of the ocean and the marine life. Half Day Fee: $125

Cape Ann Y Summer Learning
Grades: 2&3 Sessions Offered: 03-09 Location: Temple Ahvat Achim Full Day: 8:30am-4:00pm The Cape Ann Y offers a 6 week Summer Learning program for kids in second and third grade. This targeted program focuses on building literacy skills in children who would normally slide back during the summer. Our program balances fun and learning, kids spend the morning in a classroom setting for 2.5 hours and then spend the rest of the day swimming, exploring the community and making lasting friendships! This program is fully funded from the North Shore United Way and other private donors which provides this program at no cost to families! Windward Complete Day Do you need a full day of camp? But your child wants to do a 1/2 day camp? We have you covered! Choose any half day camp and add Complete Day option, we will transition them into Windward Junior or Senior and then the kids will spend the rest of the afternoon swimming, exploring the outdoors and so much more! Gloucester Summer Recreation Programs “Working Together for a Stronger Community” We are excited to once again be working collaboratively with the City of Gloucester to offer a wide array of Summer Recreational programs and events for our community.
Ages: 6-10 Sessions Offered: 2,9 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Time: 9:00am-12:00pm Kids will spend the morning tumbling in gymnastics, flipping and learning new tricks! Kids will also swim each day. Half Day Fee: $150 Deposit:$25
Sailing Camp Ages: 7-16 Sessions Offered: 2-9 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Time: 8:30-12:00pm Sailing Camp is a fantastic way for kids to spend their summer on the water. Our sailors will explore the beautiful Gloucester harbor while following a defined curriculum from our certified instructors in a fun and outgoing atmosphere. Half-Day Fee: $150 Deposit: $25/session
Junior High Girls Basketball Camp
Ages: Entering Grades 6-8, Girls Only Sessions Offered: 01 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Location: Cape Ann YMCA Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm Led by Coach Joe Billante, these girls will have a great basketball camp! Each camper will work on individual skills as well as team components. Half-Day Fee: $150 Deposit: $25/session
Senior High Girls Basketball
Ages: Entering Grades 9-12, Girls Only Sessions Offered: 03 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Location: Cape Ann YMCA Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm Led by Coach Joe Billante, our players will strengthen and develop all aspects of their game. Joe bring with him more than 40 years’ experience and is widely-recognized as one of the premiere basketball leaders in the region. Daily work will focus on skills and game play. Basketball Camp– Boys Ages: 6-12 Sessions Offered: Juniors Ages 6-8 04,06 Seniors Ages 9-12 05,07 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Time: 9:00am-12:00pm Step your game up with the Cape Ann Y’s Basketball Camp, Coaches will put players through daily drills that will emphasize skill development and challenge players of all levels. SUMMER REC CAMPS AND PROGRAMS Soccer Camp Ages: 6-12 Sessions Offered: 04,06 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Time: 9:00am-12:00pm Kids will develop trapping, kicking, dribbling skills through interactive drills and fun competitions. Each day kids will be pushed to develop their games, this Camp is great for kids of all ability levels. Camp takes place at Magnolia Woods Soccer Fields. Half Day Fee: $150 Deposit: $25
Sports and Splash Camp Ages: 3-6 Sessions Offered: 2-9 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Time: 9:00am-12:00pm Kids will spend their mornings running around in the gym playing games and then take a 45minute swim lesson all before lunch time! Half Day Fee: $150 Deposit:$25
Mountain Biking Camp
Ages: 9-13 Sessions Offered: 04,07 Session Length: One week, Monday-Friday Location: Cape Ann YMCA Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm Each day campers will bike to a local destination, learn about bike maintenance and ride some of the best courses around! Trips include: Stage Fort, Back Shore, Goose Cove and Magnolia Woods. Campers will swim each afternoon as well! Full Day Fee: $195 Deposit: $25/session
