Youth and Teen Orientation

Ages: 12 & 13 years Fee: Member Benefit This program is intended for young adults who are ready to start working out, but are still too young to be on their own in the fitness center. Over the course of 3 separate orientations, our wellness coaches will work with your child in order to get them adequately trained on each piece of equipment. Each orientation will last 45 minutes in length. At the end of this orientation program, your child will graduate with the ability to use the fitness facility on their own. The couch to 5k beginner’s running schedule has helped thousands of new runners get off the couch and onto the roads; the youth to 5k opens up this same opportunity for younger runners wanting to train for a 5k. Registrants will obtain a specialized program geared for younger populations which will ease into mileage a little slower. Teen Leaders Club The Plaistow Community YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club is a volunteer based program designed to build leadership skills and confidence in teens. 3-5 years Y Member $65 Community $85 In Pee Wee Sports Mania, children sample a variety of basic sports skills, build self-confidence and have fun. The Y’s Pee Wee Sports Mania features sports the Y has to offer in a fun Atmosphere, while cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors and better health. Plaistow Pee Wee Floor Hockey League

Ages: 3-5 years Six Week Fee: Y Members $60 Community $75 Six Week 2nd child Fee: Y Members $40 Community $60 Bring your preschooler down to the Plaistow YMCA for our Pee Wee Floor Hockey League. Children will be instructed on the basic fundamentals of floor hockey including stick handling, shooting, passing, scoring and teamwork while using age appropriate equipment. Player will be place on teams with lead by volunteer coaches. Teams will meet for on hour each week for thirty minute of practice and thirty minutes of game play through the 8 week season. All players are asked to wear shin guards (soccer style or other) during all floor hockey game play. If your child wishes to bring their own hockey stick it must have a plastic blade. The Plaistow Community YMCA will also provide mouth guard for all players. If you have any additional questions please contact Clint Clay.

Grades: 1-8 1st Child Fee: Y members $75 Community $105 2nd Child Fee: Y members $ 55 Community $85 Join our Youth Floor Hockey League! This League play will start on February 7th and run until April. Grades 1 & 2 will practice and play on Saturday mornings only in Plaistow. Grades 3-6 will have a weekly practice with games on Saturdays. Grades 7 & 8 will have a weekly practice with games on Thursday nights. Players will be placed on a team through a blind draft process. Teams will be led by volunteer coaches. Games and practices for grade 3rd-8th will be held out of both the Haverhill and Plaistow YMCA’s. 6 years & up Y Member $78 Community $96 Tae Kwon-Do may be loosely translated as “the art of the foot and fist” or “the art of kicking and punching.” Tae Kwon-Do is a unique form of martial arts. It combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy. These fun and healthy choice classes are taught by Alison and John Reyes. Boxer’s Workout

Fee: Y Member $54 Community $84 This class in instructed by John Reyes. John began training in Tae Kwon-Do, in 1975-present. John is presently certified as a 4th degree black belt. He is also a certified boxing coach, a former kick-boxing judge with the ISKA, and a former director of the Massachusetts faction of the United States Tae Kwon-Do Federation. In addition John Reyes is a N.E.A.A.U. Lightweight Karate Champion, and competed nationally. Timed rounds of, jump boxing, mirror work, focus mitts, boxing exercise (pushups, crunches, squats, medicine ball), with boxing technique and instruction. PLS Y Wednesday 6:00-6:45pm

Women’s Basketball League

Fee: Y Member $75 Community $85 The Haverhill YMCA will be hosting a Women’s 30+ Basketball. The league will begin January 13 and run for ten weeks including plus play offs. Games will be held on Wednesday evenings at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Players are able to register as a team or individually. Teams must have at least six players and no more than ten players on a team. Team shirts are included. The team that finishes in first place will receive of a championship trophy. Men’s Legends 50+ Adult Basketball League

Individual Player Member Fee: $120 Reversible Jersey Fee: $15 The Plaistow Community YMCA will be hosting a Men’s 50+ Basketball League. Games will run for ten weeks with two to three weeks of playoffs. Games will be held on Monday evenings at Plaistow Community YMCA starting on September 15th. All those who wish to play must attend a mandatory evaluation night on Monday September 8th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Players are only able to register as a free agent and then will be placed on a team through a blind draft. League fee must be paid in full prior to the start of the season. Team rosters and schedule will be send out prior to the start of the season. Players must attend at least six of the ten regular season games. Attendance will be monitored. For question please contact Clint Clay the Haverhill YMCA’s Sports Director. Registration is open. Evaluation will be held Monday January 12th 6:30-8:30pm Season Begins starts Monday January 19th.

Men’s 30+ Adult Basketball League

Team Fee: $480 Fee: Y Member $65 Community $75 One Time Jersey Fee: $15 This league is designed for adults who are looking for a fun and competitive league. Season will last 10 weeks including playoffs. The season will begin January 12. Teams must be paid in full before season starts. Rosters may not have more than a 10 players. Roster must be submitted by January 1. Players must attend at least 6 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs. Games will be held on Tuesday nights each week. YMCA Lifeguard Training

Ages: 16 years & up Fee: Y Member $275 Community $350 Students are trained in the nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the session. Must attend all classes. Please be sure to update your email address as there is online pre course work.
