ADAPTIVE Adaptive Swim Lessons

Ages: 3-16 years Fee: Y Member $70 Community $105 Participants develop water safety skills and improve swim strokes and fitness in this specialized program. Program includes time for fun, structured lesson and socialization through the use of games. Ratio of instructor to swimmer is 1:3 and class length is 45 minutes. Contact Kira E. Adaptive Adventure Challenge

Ages: 8-18 years Fee: Y Member $70 Community $105 Have fun on the low ropes course and rock wall in a group environment. In this program participants will strengthen social skills, physical competence and safety skills. Class length is 45 minutes. TEEN Friday 5:30pm

Adaptive Boot Camp

Ages: 13 years and up Fee: Y Member $95 Community $142 Improve physical fitness and feel good! Participants will learn basic anatomy, strength exercises, correct lifting techniques and healthy eating tips. Daily activities include weight training and cardiovascular exercise. ARTS, THEATRE & DANCE Musical Sensations

Ages: 1-5 years Fee: Y Member $70 Community $105 Musical Sensations, a music and movement program taught by Suzie Kramer of Kindermusik with Suzie, is Suzie’s original creation, featuring different songs and dances! By incorporating music, movement, singing, dancing, instrument playing and improvisation, this program will help your children develop physically, emotionally, cognitively, linguistically, socially and musically. Children who are actively involved in and exposed to music on a regular basis are proven to have elevated levels of math skills, language skills, literacy, listening, problem solving, social skills, self-esteem and musicality. Messy Munchkins

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $65 Community $98 This class is for your little one if they like to get creative in a messy way! Let them get the Y messy—instead of your kitchen table!—with materials like finger paint, glue, chalk and more. This class is 30 minutes and takes place in the Art Studio in the Douglas Stephens Teen Center. TEEN Wednesday 10:00am

Squirts Studio

Ages: 2-4 Fee: Y Member $5 per child Community $8 per child This drop in art studio time is for the parent who doesn’t have the time to clean up after arts & crafts. Come to Y and use our materials and get our space messy in order for your child to express themselves and create the “project of the day”. Use the whole 45 minutes of open time, or less, depending on how creative and messy you feel. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required. Artistic & Creative Expressions

Ages: 5-10 years Fee: Y Member $80 Community $120 Express yourself through the arts! Suzie Kramer, Owner and Educator of Kindermusik with Suzie and Musical Sensations, will show you how liberating it is to fully express yourself and live in the moment! We will listen to different types of music, sing, dance, draw, play percussive instruments, and engage in fun drama/theater activities such as improvisation, storytelling, role playing, and charades! The arts are essential for the mind, body, heart, and soul! This class will facilitate emotional, cognitive, social, and musical development. Watercolor

Guitar Private Lessons

Block Print Carving

Voice Lessons Vocal Recital

It's time to shine! Private Vocal Lesson Students will be showing off their attained skills at a March 14th performance in the newly renovated Ames Hall! Want to perform? It's not too late. The only pre-requisite is a minimum of one private voice lesson in January, February or March. Performances will be open to the public. Twinkle Toes

Age: 2.5-3.5 years Fee: Y Member $98 Community $147 New dancers gain skills and independence in this pre-ballet class that runs without parent participation. Basic dance skills are taught using a creative movement vocabulary. Dancers are also exposed to ballet words, steps and music. It’s a fun class for princes and princesses in training. Story Time Ballet

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $115 Community $173 A dance class exploring and dancing to Midsummer Night’s Dream and Sleeping Beauty. Each class will also have time for a creative craft. Creative Ballet

Ages: 3.5-5 years Fee: Y Member $105 Community $158 Creative ballet develops coordination, rhythm and body control and teaches ballet vocabulary, postures and active listening. Funky Ballet

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $105 Community $158 This class teaches the basics of ballet, with a little “funk”. Groove into dance lessons by being creative with your ballet movements and learning from non-traditional music. This class is 30 minutes. STER Tuesday 1:15pm

Mini Hip Hop

Ages: 6-8 years Fee: Y Member $105 Community $158 This creative movement class for boys and girls offers beginning instruction in hip hop. Each week also includes warm-up exercises, stretching, and time for children to “free dance”. This class promotes expression, creativity and self-esteem. Youth Hip Hop

Ages: 9-12 years Fee: Y Member $105 Community $158 Hip hop dance experience begins here! Learn the basics of hip hop dancing along with the latest moves. Ages: 3-7 years Fee: Y Member $54/month Community $81/month Dancers have 30 minutes of ballet instruction followed by 30 minutes of tap instruction with time for changing shoes. Children learn basic ballet terminology and gain an understanding of the parts of the foot and shoe used in tap dance. Class length is 60 minutes. Dancers spend 30 minutes each on techniques of ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Children will practice the distinctions and similarities among the genres and grow to appreciate each one individually. Boys Crew

Teaching all the classic steps and vocabulary of dancer, this class will help your male dancers build strength, skill and poise in the world of dance. Ages: 12-18 months Fee: Y Member $87 Community $130 Here parents are given the opportunity to positively interact and support their child in a fun environment. Children will develop coordination, balance and peer socialization skills through social interaction, music, games, parachute play and gymnastics circuits. The floor, TumbleTrak, trampoline and pit will be explored. Class structure is very minimal, with the expectation that parents keep their children with the teacher. Class length is 45 minutes. Participants will perfect previously learned skills and be further challenged by new and exciting skills using the vault, bars, beam, floor, TumbleTrak, foam pit and trampoline. Grades: 7-12 The Greater Beverly YMCA is excited to announce their involvement in the YMCA Youth in Government program! High school students from across Massachusetts will have the opportunity to come together and participate in a model session of state government. Participants act as legislators, judges, cabinet members and members of the press. They’ll write a bill, argue at the Supreme Court, become a lobbyist and much more! Students will learn how to run a mock government and will have a weekend-long conference at the State House in Boston! The program is primarily for high school students but middle school students can participate in a limited capacity as well. The YMCA Model Government Conference will be held in Boston in Spring 2014. Body Composition Analysis

Using basic, accurate bioimpedance testing from Omron, we can help you find out your body fat percentage. This will help you set a baseline for training goals or to help assess cardiovascular risk. At the end of the test, you will be equipped with an informational take home sheet. Please make sure your test is done prior to working out, limit fluid and caffeine intake within three hours of appointment time.

Fitness Assessment

Our Certified Personal Trainers will work with you to gather your body composition information, resting heart rate and blood pressure, muscle and cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, body mass index and waist to hip ratio. With this information you will be able to determine your ideal body weight and how to achieve this goal safely A fitness assessment will also assist you in identifying health risk factors and will give you information to help you create an efficient and effective exercise program. At the end of the assessment you’ll receive a copy of your results to take home, share with your doctor or personal trainer, or use as a baseline for future assessments. Facilitated Stretching

Facilitated stretching with our certified personal trainers will allow you to remain in a relaxed state, enabling proper breathing patterns and providing a greater, more efficient, longer lasting stretch. Healthy Living & Nutrition Initiative

Ages 18 years & up Fee: Y Members only FREE This pilot program, a collaborative partnership between the Y and Lahey Outpatient Center, Danvers, is a comprehensive healthy living approach for people who are have or are at risk for obesity, diabetes or coronary artery disease. Participants will receive free screenings, education and counseling from Registered Dieticians and YMCA Certified Personal Trainers in a group and/or individual setting for a defined period of time. COMMUNITY EDUCATION, VOLUNTEERISM & GIVING Swim Instructor Mentoring & Certification Course

Ages: 16 years & up Fee: Y Member $250 Community $350 This class is for those who would like to be a Swim Instructor and receive their certification with experience. While co-teaching our own swim classes you will be earning experience as a swim instructor followed by time in the classroom to understand the material and become a fully certified swim instructor. You will receive the following certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen Administration and the Swim Instructor certification. There is an online component to the class so be sure your email is current on our system. STER Tuesday & Thursday 4:00–7:00pm

Y Lifeguard Training

Ages: 16 years & up Fee: Y Member $290 Community $435 Students are trained in the nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory.
