PROGRAM REGISTRATION Our new website, launched in December, makes registering for a program easier than ever. While there are several new ways to learn about our programs and search, here are some tips: • Visit: northshoreymca.org. • Look for the search box located on each program related page. • Search for programs by keyword, location, program area, age and day of the week. • Add the classes you want to register for into the cart. • Choose checkout, then sign into your account or create a new account. • Assign each program to someone on your membership. • Pay and print your receipt. Refunds & Program Cancellations • The YMCA reserves the right to cancel a class in the event of insufficient enrollment for which a full refund will be issued. • On-Line Credits : On-line credits will be offered for the remainder of any money paid on programs. The amount refunded will be calculated at the time of the request. Credits will be offered for remaining class sessions, calculated when the request is made. You can request a credit form at the front desk or by contacting the director. • Credit Card or Check Refunds: The YMCA will issue a credit card or check refund: - If, for any reason, the YMCA cancels a class, participants will be offered the option for refund for that cancelled class, - If a participant cancels their registration prior to the start of the program session, - For classes missed due to illness (a doctor’s note is required) or, if you are not 100% satisfied with your class experience. • Refunds will be offered for remaining class sessions and calculated when the request is made. You can request a refund form at the front desk or by contacting the director. Wait List Policy If a program is full, you may be placed on the waitlist. You will make no payment at that time and will be contacted by a program director if we are able to add you into the program. Please make sure that we have your correct address, email and phone number on file for notification. Prorating The YMCA will prorate a program registration only after the second week of the start of the session (two missed classes).

Age: 2.5-3.5 years Fee: Y Member $97 Community $146 This is a pre-ballet class that runs without parent participation. Basic dance skills are taught using a creative movement vocabulary. Story Time Ballet

Creative Ballet
Ages: 3.5-5 years Fee: Y Member $102 Community $153 This pre-ballet class is for preschoolers and focuses on coordination, rhythm, and listening. An informal introduction to ballet positioning exposes budding ballerinas to ballet terminology and posture. This is a fun class for children who like to flow in their movements or enjoy dancing as princesses and fairies. Participants are encouraged to wear dance dresses, tutus or leotards. Ages: 5-7 years Fee: Y Member $102 Community $153 This creative movement class for boys and girls offers beginning instruction in hip hop. Each week also includes warm-up exercises, stretching, and time for children to “Free Dance.” Come have fun and get groovy! This class promotes expression, creativity, and selfesteem. Youth Hip Hop
Ages: Grades 3-5 Fee: Y Member $80 Community $120 This is where your hip hop dance experience begins! In this program you will learn the basics of hip hop dancing along with the latest moves. The Y’s Sterling School of Dance inspires young dancers to appreciate the art of dance through a variety of styles. We teach our students how to be successful in dance class and on the stage. Whether your child wants to be a professional dancer or pursue other life goals, the Sterling School of Dance enriches them for their future endeavors. We have three divisions - Children, Youth and Teen - that provide age appropriate instruction and skills building. Our curriculum is structured around the core ballet system which provides the foundation for further learning in all dance genres. Students have the opportunity to learn from experienced dance instructors in a small group format, conducive to concentrated learning. The Sterling School of Dance runs from September through June. Students in each division have the opportunity to perform in the Spring Recital in June. Enrollment ends January 31, 2013. Foundational Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Hip Hop Ages: 7-11 years Fee: Y Member $57/month Community $85/month Dancers spend 30 minutes each developing the basic skills and techniques of ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Children learn the distinctions and the similarities among the genres and grow to appreciate each. Children may decide they like all three or favor one or two genres by the end of the year. The After the Bell after school program is focused on providing quality supervision and enrichment during the key hours between the end of school and when parents return home from work. Our After the Bell program provides the convenience of a licensed and safe transportation in a Beverly Public School bus departing from Briscoe Middle School to the Douglas Stephens Teen Center each day. Designed to map out specifically what you would like to achieve with your total experience here at the Y, you will meet with a trained fitness staff member to find out where you would like to begin. Getting started on the road to your fitness goals is easy at the Y! We offer all Y members up to four free Personal Fitness Coaching sessions to help you learn the correct use of all the equipment in our fitness center. These sessions are designed for people just beginning a workout routine and people who have been faithful exercisers but want to learn some new exercises to add to their workout Personal Fitness Coaching Sessions are approximately 75 minutes in length. You’ll work one-on-one with a member of our fitness staff, who will answer your questions and give you the training you need to help you meet your fitness goals. Signing up is easy. Body Composition Analysis
Using basic, accurate bioimpedance testing from Omron, you will able to determine your body fat percentage. This will help you set a baseline for training goals or to help assess cardiovascular risk. At the end of the test, you will be equipped with an informational take home sheet. Please make sure your test is done prior to working out, limit fluid and caffeine intake within three hours of appointment time. Bioimpedance body composition analysis takes about five minutes and can be scheduled at the Y Welcome Center.

Fitness Assessment
Our Certified Personal Trainers will work with you to gather your body composition information, resting heart rate and blood pressure, muscle and cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, body mass index and waist to hip ratio. With this information you will be able to determine your ideal body weight and how to achieve this goal safely A fitness assessment will also assist you in identifying health risk factors and will give you information to help you create an efficient and effective exercise program. At the end of the assessment you’ll receive a copy of your results to take home, share with your doctor or personal trainer, or use as a baseline for future assessments. Assessments are performed by a personal trainer and are 60 minutes in length.

It is important to engage in healthy habits of energizing your body for it’s daily activities with the appropriate types of nutrients in the appropriate amounts. Facilitated by Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist Corinne Ray, you will lose fat pounds through a healthy change in diet and prudent, individualized exercise recommendation. Aikido
Ages: 18 and up Fee: Y Member $50/month Community $75/month The martial art of Aikido evolved out of the historic tradition of the Japanese warrior arts. Studied in earnest, it is more than a form of self-defense, but a way to perfect one’s spirit. Aikido teaches selfdefense without the use of strength or violence. Basic & Intermediate Tai Chi
Ages: 18 years and up Fee: Y Member $87 Community $130 Chen Taiji Quan, the original form of ‘Tai Chi’ is a more than 400 year old Chinese martial art unifying mind, body and energy for selfdefense, health and fitness. Benefits include improved circulation, energy, balance, joint health, mental focus as well as an intense workout. Class is open to all fitness levels from beginner to advanced. Instructor Marin Spivack has extensively trained and lived in mainland China, holds a degree in Asian Studies from University of California, Berkeley, and is an official lineage representative of the 20th generation of the Chen line of Taijiquan in Beijing. Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program
Ages: 18 years and up Fee: Y Members $79 Community $118 The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program is a group recreational exercise program designed to provide people of all ages and with a wide range of physical abilities a “joint Friendly” exercise alternative. This program captures the best of its discipline, promoting the rewards of increased joint flexibility and range of motion, improved balance and coordination, improved concentration and memory, improved posture and body awareness, and many more. Please note this is a six week class. Anyone can benefit from the program, including people with mild to moderate joint impairment due to arthritis, and people who are new to exercise. Arthritis Stretch & Flex
Ages: 18 years and up Fee: Y Member $41 Community $55 Drop in: $7.50 This class allows you to exercise without putting excess strain on your joints and muscles. The gentle activities in the warm water pool will help you gain strength and flexibility. The instructor has been trained to help anyone with Arthritis or experiences joint pain, stiffness and/or limited range of motion. The ability to swim is not required. Class length is 60 minutes. YMCA Lifeguard Training
Ages: 16 years and up Fee: Y Member $290 Community $435 Students are trained in the nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory.
