PROGRAM INFORMATION PROGRAM REGISTRATION
Our new website, launched in December, makes registering for a program easier than ever. While there are several new ways to learn about our programs and search, here are some tips: • Visit: www.northshoreymca.org. • Look for the search box located on each program related page. • Search for programs by keyword, location, program area, age and day of the week. • Look for the search box located on each program related page. • Add the classes you want to register for into the cart. • Choose checkout, then sign into your account or create a new account. • Assign each program to someone on your membership. • Pay and print your receipt.
ONLINE CREDTIS
Online credits will be offered for the remainder of any money paid on programs. The amount refunded will be calculated at the time of the request. Credits will be offered for remaining class sessions, calculated when the request is made. You can request a credit form at the front desk or by contacting the director.
CREDIT CARD OR CHECK REFUNDS
The YMCA will issue a credit card or check refund: • If, for any reason, the YMCA cancels a class, participants will be offered the option for refund for that cancelled class, • If a participant cancels their registration prior to the start of the program session, • For classes missed due to illness (a doctor’s note is required) or, • If you are not 100% satisfied with your class experience. Refunds will be offered for remaining class sessions, calculated when the request is made. You can request a refund form at the front desk or by contacting the director.

usage guidelines •Non-swimmers and children 6 years and under must have a parent or guardian in the water with them during open swim. •Youth 9 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older to be in the building. •Youth 8 to 13 are allowed in our fitness center with an adult doing cardio only. Youth 10 to 13 with an adult are allowed to do weights. Youth 12 to 16 are allowed in group exercise classes with an adult. Ages: Children/Adult Fee: Y Member $68 Community $102 We offer an adaptive swim program for children and adults with special needs. The program includes an introduction to the water and water adjustment activities, and it will be catered to each participants needs. Participants in this program may have a parent or an aide in the water to assist with activities if necessary. Little Cooks and Story Books

Chili Cook-Off Challenge
Fee: FREE This is the first in this year’s Y-Cooking Challenge series. Participants are asked to enter their best chili to be judged by a panel of Y staff and teens. All chili’s welcome, ingredients must be included to prevent food allergy issues. We will use a blind taste test to crown the 2013 Y Chili Challenge Champion. AUDITIONS: ALICE IN WONDERLAND Presented by the Y Theatre Company Alice finds herself in a dreamland of wonder and magic as she follows the White Rabbit to meet the Caterpillar and takes on the Queen of Hearts. Ages: 4-6 years Fee: Y Member $72 Community $102 Students are taught ballet positions at the centre and introduced to the ballet barre. Basic combinations across the floor, jumps and choreography. Dancers will learn exercises for building strength and coordination as well as musicality. At the end of class, we will have an introduction to Tap. Basic techniques focusing on rhythm. Ballet & Intro Tap (6-9 Years)
Ages: 6-9 years Fee: Y Member $72 Community $102 Students are taught ballet exercises at the barre and center floor, progressing towards more complex combinations as the levels increase. The teaching emphasis is on how to stand with the body in proper alignment, the use of turn-out from the hips, pointing feet and the coordination of the arms and head movements. Ballet is beautiful, flowing and elegant, yet is also strong and forceful. Musical awareness is constantly stressed. Tap students develop coordination, rhythm, strength and stamina. Basic techniques and rhythm through the use of the shuffle, flap ball-change and other beginning steps are taught. 45 minutes of ballet and 15 minutes of tap. Class length total 60 minutes. Creative Movement
Ages: 2-4 years Fee: Y Member $70 Community $100 This class is a child-centered first introduction to dance/movement elements. Students will learn the basics of rhythm, direction and dance movement. The class focuses on helping young children learn to listen to and respond to the nuances and sounds of music, and includes music games, circle, story movement and free dance. Ages: 3 years Fee: Y Member $70 Community $100 Ballet Class involves lots of imagination to keep the interest and attention of our young 3 yr old students. Dancers use large motor skill movements such as jumping, skipping, hopping, and are made aware of music and rhythm. Exercises for building physical strength and coordination are offered in a FUN and nurturing atmosphere. The basic foundation positions are introduced. Students are also exposed to proper dance etiquette required in the dance studio with great posture and adorable curtsies. Class length, 45 minutes. Through movement education children will develop body image, coordination, balance, peer socialization, music, movement, games and play. Many props are used such as balls, musical toys, parachutes and other bright and colorful objects that will attract your child’s attention!

Teeny Tiny Tumblers
Ages: 2.5-3.5 years With Parent Fee: Y Member $58 Community $96 Children improve their gross motor skills through activities such as tumbling, jumping, skipping and hopping. Other developmental skills that will be worked on include balance, coordination, and the all-important….listening! In this class the child will learn to become independent of the parent and how to follow their teacher’s instructions. This is a transition class to prepare your child for Tiny Tumblers which is a class without parent instruction. Class length is 45 minutes. The recreational preschool gymnastics program is designed for boys & girls ages 4-6 who like to pursue gymnastics in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. The emphasis in these classes is developing strength, flexibility and coordination through the use of gymnastic equipment as well as hoops, bean bags and balls. The children progress through the classes according to age and ability.

We have combined two of our most popular programs into one fun-filled hour and a half. Gymnasts will get their hearts pumping for 40 minutes then you can escort them to the pool for their 30-minute swim lesson and 15 minutes of free swim. What a day at the Y! Gymnasts will develop skills including backbends, round-offs and jumps on the beam. Class length is one hour. The Y’s Gym Star’s coaching staff is extremely passionate about our role in guiding gymnasts through training and helping to develop into strong athletes both mentally and physically. Pre-Team (invitation Only)
Ages: 5 years & up This is a pre-competitive program for girls ages 5 and up. Participants must have completed Sr. Gymnast IV, or have been recommended by an instructor. Emphasis is placed on mastery of Level 4 skills, flexibility, strength and balance. Pre Team gymnasts will learn a routine to perform at gym shows.
Competitive Team Program
Ages: 5-18 years Currently the Gym Stars Gymnastics Team consists of a Level 4 and 5 Competitive Team. The gymnasts in this program are required to order a team uniform that will be worn at meets and events. The competitive season is between November and May. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to qualify for State and Regional Competitions. FIT-TASTIC KIDS FIT-tastic Kids is a program developed by the YMCA of the North Shore to teach kids ages 8 to 14 how to eat a healthier diet and increase daily physical activity. In this program participants will learn how to make healthy food choices, bring home recipes and ideas to their families to continue healthy lifestyle habits at home and find ways to get moving throughout the day. The goal is for both kids and their families to be FIT-tastic together. FIT-tastic Kids offers flexible scheduling for each family to begin at any time. An 8-week Y youth membership is included when participating in this program. FIT-tastic Kids is free for participants and their families because of the generosity of donors and grantors. SPORTS & RECREATION 30+ Adult Basketball League
Team Fee: $400 Individual Fee: $60 This league is designed for adults who are looking for a fun and competitive league. Season will last 10 weeks including playoffs. The season will begin February 5. Teams must be paid in full before season starts. Rosters may not have more than 10 players. Roster must be submitted by February 4.
