IT’S TIME TO SHINE!

Spring II Program Session April 27 - June 21 LYNCH/VAN OTTERLOO YMCA

www.northshoreymca.org

CONNECTING ALL ABILITIES The Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA is committed to fully including people of all abilities into our facility. To accomplish this we partner with families and individuals with disabilities to develop programming for all participants to be successful. To meet this goal we provide a unique registration process that includes the creation of Individualized Ability Plans (IAP). With a plan in place individuals with disabilities gain the support needed to successfully immerse into a program where they learn, thrive and grow. It is our priority to make this an integral part of our everyday operations so that all members have access to facilities, programs and services. The IAP is much like an IEP for school and will allow us to customize a program that best meets the needs of participants. The following components will be in place to accomplish this:  Customize classes to child’s individual needs  Design programming based on individual interests to motivate regular participation.  Empower independence by meeting each individual where they are, by creating modified, structured, and consistent instruction .  Provide continuous monitoring of participant’s individual progress focusing on inclusion opportunities.  Train and provide staff with the tools they need to make every child’s experience positive. Children should be mainstreamed at least a partial school day and be fully toilet trained to benefit from this unique experience. Once you register for a program Helen Westland our Adaptive/Inclusion coordinator will contact you to complete the intake process. For questions about this process or any of our Adaptive/Inclusion program classes please contact Helen Westland, Adaptive/Inclusion Coordinator westlandh@northshoreymca.org 781.631.9622 x 2404
