ADAPTIVE Adaptive Preschool Gymnastics Ages: Fee:

4-6 years Y Member $109 Community $154 Designed for children with special needs who love to jump, roll and bounce. Each lesson consists of a warm -up to improve flexibility and instruction on all of the gymnastics apparatus. Developmental skills emphasized are balance, strength, coordination and the all-important listening. In addition, this class will help your child improve their gross motor skills. Adaptive Climbing Program Ages: Fee:

All ages Y Member $50 Community $75 A one-on-one class for youth with physical or developmental challenges. Parents will be taught belay techniques and both parent and instructor will work with the climbers to develop confidence and improve basic climbing skills. Flexible scheduling is available. Training Program for Special Olympics Swim Team

13 years & older Y Member $74 Community $111 In this program, teens with developmental disabilities will learn how to use cardiovascular and strength training equipment in the fitness center. 8 years & older Y Member $82 Community $123 This class is designed to prepare swimmers with physical and mental disabilities for a Special Olympics Swim Team, teaching swim techniques and drills for the four competitive strokes, starts and turns. The focus of this course is on building endurance, components of competition and goal setting. Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the big pool. Class length is 1 hour and meets in big pool. 12-24 months Y Member $60 Community $90 In this gymnastics class, parents are given the opportunity to positively interact and support their child in a fun environment. Children develop healthy habits, coordination, balance and peer socialization skills through social interaction, music, games, parachute play and gymnastics circuits. The floor, tumble trak, trampoline and pit will be explored. Class structure is very minimal, parent participation required with the expectation that parents keep their children with the teacher. Orientation - Youth Cardiovascular

Ages: 8-11 years Fee: Y Member Only FREE Two sessions teaching youth members ages 8-11 years old how to properly use the cardiovascular equipment and the Youth Fitness Center Policies. FIT-TASTIC KIDS

FIT-tastic Kids, a program developed by the YMCA of the North Shore, teaches kids ages 8 to 14 how to eat a healthier diet and increase daily physical activity. In this FREE program, children learn how to make healthy food choices and will bring home recipes and fitness ideas to their families to continue healthy lifestyle habits at home. The goal is for both kids and their families to be FIT-tastic together. FIT-tastic Kids offers flexible scheduling for each family to begin at any time, includes an 8-week Y youth membership and is free, thanks to the generosity of donors and grantors. 9 years & older Y Member $56 Community $84 Develop your yoga practice in this class specifically for teens. Participants will learn the form and flow of the physical postures of yoga, while fostering the mental benefits of yoga. Participants will practice sun salutations, fun yoga flows, breathing techniques and short meditation exercises that can recharge, focus and calm the mind, body, and spirit. High School Athletic Conditioning (Speed, Strength & Agility) Ages: 13 years & older 1 Day Fee: Y Member $56 Community $84 2 Day Fee: Y Member $99 Community $149 This class is geared to the high school athlete wanting to take it to the next level, for college or next sport season. Athletes will gain strength, power, and speed, functional to their sport, by utilizing explosive techniques as well as functional lifting styles. Proper techniques will be taught to ensure each participant has exceptional form to maximize potential while greatly reducing risk of injury. (Class will avoid highly technical moves that have greater chance of injury such as cleans etc). Once technique is mastered, participants will be able to focus on specific reps and weights. Training style is exciting, using fresh concepts with proven results. We will use barbells (fitness floor), boxes, kettle bells, tubing, dumbbells, ladders, and more. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Leaders Club

The YMCA Leaders Club works with middle and high school students to focus on developing positive life skills and leadership qualities by connecting the club to community service projects with local non-profit organizations. In addition to volunteering, the Club conducts exercises in democratic decision-making, assessing and understanding community needs, understanding cultural diversity and team building projects. The Club meets weekly during the school year Thursdays at 6pm. No registration is required, and all are welcome to stop in and check it out.

Junior Competitive Basketball League

8-10 years Y Member $70 Community $105 Boys and girls ages 8-10 years old have the opportunity to play on an organized basketball team. The season runs from July 1st—August 12th. Y staff and volunteer parent coaches will run a 30 minute practice, followed by a 30 minute game. Each player will receive a team shirt. Week one will be a skills week and week two children will be placed on a team. Schedules and rosters will be emailed out to all participants. Games will be refereed by Y staff. Y Member $Free Season Pass: April 26th October 1st : $100.00 Session Pass: $ 40.00 per session All current class members who are not Y members will have an automatic session pass. Skateboard, scooters, and rollerblades are all welcome at the new Skate Zone! Open to skaters of all ages and experience levels; beginners will get pointers and tips from knowledgeable staff and experienced skaters. Helmets are required, skaters 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and all skaters must have a signed waiver, which is available online or at the Y and have a skate season or session pass. Girls who are interested in trying out the sport have a place to go where they can learn to skate with other girls. These lessons are for the individual who is new to the sport. We will teach you proper foot placement, proper safety procedures and how to balance, Ollie, turn, push and ride transition. They will have the opportunity to ride the half pipe as well as our mini skate park. Skaters need a board, helmet, elbow and knee pads and a signed parent waiver available online or at the Y. The YMCA of the North Shore Sharks swim team works to develop the best combination of swimmers and human beings through the strengths of innovative coaching techniques and strategies, supportive parental involvement and integration of our core values – Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

Fee: FREE Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body. The program includes:  Free 12-week adult Y membership  Two free 75 minute classes per week  Full access to the Y seven days a week CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION  Class is available for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment as well as those who have completed their treatment and are looking to regain health and improve quality of life.  Strong personal desire. Spaulding Outpatient Center at Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA The Spaulding Outpatient Center at the Marblehead YMCA is an outpatient rehabilitation center that serves as a physical, and aquatic therapy satellite location of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. The center provides state-of-the art intervention for a variety of orthopedic injuries and conditions. Middle and High School Youth Sport Volunteering

Students age 14 years and older to learn how to teach children’s sports classes. The first few classes are held in the conference room learning how to instruct and facilitate practice plans for sports classes. Final classes will conclude with teaching a child’s sports class.
