Youth and Teen Fitness Orientation

Ages: 12 & 13 years Fee: Member Benefit This program is intended for young adults who are ready to start working out, but are still too young to be on their own in the fitness center. Over the course of 3 separate orientations, our wellness coaches will work with your child in order to get them adequately trained on each piece of equipment. Each orientation will last 45 minutes. At the end of this orientation program, your child will graduate with the ability to use the fitness facility on their own. Floor Hockey Training Program Grades: 8 Week Fee:

1-8 Y Members $60 Community $120 Looking to improve your Floor Hockey skills before the season starts up? The Plaistow Community YMCA has just the class to get your young super star ready for the court. This Pre-Season floor hockey training will consist of strength and conditioning along with basic fundaments such as stick handling, shooting, defense and team work. Classes will begin January 5th and 7th and will run for eight weeks. Class length is one hour. Located at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Pee Wee Soccer League

Ages: 3-5 years Six Week Fee: Y Members $60 Community $80 Six Week 2nd child Fee: Y Members $40 Community $60 This outdoor fun and introduction to soccer is a great exercise in developing team play concepts and motor skills. The League will be starting on May 9th and play for 6 weeks and end on june 13th.Teams will meet for one hour, with a half hour of team practice time followed by a 30 minute game. Games will take place in the field located behind the Plaistow Community YMCA. The inclement weather location will be inside on one of the Plaistow Community YMCA Courts. Summer Youth Basketball

Ages: Entering Grades1-8, co-ed Session days: Monday – Friday Camp Location: Plaistow Community YMCA Price: Members $60 Community $90 Join our Summer Youth Basketball League! This league is all fun and a great way stay on top of your basketball game over the summer. League play will consist of 6 weeks. Groups will consist of two or more age groups. Teams will meet once a week for one hour game throughout the six week season. All games will be played at the Plaistow Community YMCA located at 175 Plaistow Rd Plaistow NH. Team shirts will be provided to all players. Teams are formed through a blind draft. Parents who are interested volunteering to coach please contact the league director. Games will begin June 8th11th.

Spring Youth Floor Hockey

Grade 1-8 Fee: Y Members $50 Community $80 Join our Spring Youth Floor Hockey League! League play will consist of 6 weeks. Team will have 4 regular season games followed by a two week tournament. Game will be played outside weather permitting. Teams will meet once a week for a game. Players are selected through a blind draft. Division may consist of two or more grades. Game will be played on Thursday and Saturday depending on the divisions. Game will be played at the Plaistow Community. Volunteer coaches are needed for this program.

Ballet/Tap Combo

8 Week Session Ages: 5+ years Fee: Y Member $76 Community $152 Learn what it takes to become a prima ballerina! Students are introduced to basic skills, combinations, and terminology while having lots of fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Skills include but are not limited to leaps, jumps, turns, and centre floor positions! Students will learn the basics of tap dance including isolations, combinations, and staying on beat with the music. Students will also learn basic tap choreography to today's hits in a fun and structured environment! This is held in the new Group Exercise Studio. PCY Sunday 10:30am-11:30am

Hip-Hop/Jazz Jr.

8 Week Session Ages: 6-10 years Fee: Y Member $76 Community $152 Come and join us in learning upbeat and entertaining choreography to today's hottest hits! Students will learn about body isolations, strength, balance, and coordination along with a strong sense of rhythm. Students will learn the fundamentals of classical Jazz. This class is fun and upbeat, and also focuses on technique and introduces basic flexibility. Students will learn turns, combination steps, jumps and leaps while moving to today's age appropriate hits! No previous experience needed! This class will be held in the new Group Exercise studio. YMCA BUS Take the bus to the Plaistow Community YMCA! Bussing every day after school is now an option with these easy steps. 1. Send a note with your student to school, granting your permission. 2. Students ride the bus to the YMCA and are met by their parents after their class, club, open time, practice or game!

Intramurals are led by YMCA staff and promote positive and healthy choice sports and activities weekdays after school. Play organized basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and more! Teen Leaders Club The Haverhill YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club is a volunteer- based program designed to build leadership skills and confidence in teens. In Leader’s Club you will gain knowledge of how to lead a group, plan an event, help lead activities and be a role model. Activities we had done in the past include (but not limited to), Thanksgiving dinner for the youth and teens of the Haverhill Y, Santa parade, gift wrapping, parents night out and so much more! Come check out a meeting and see what you think. Participants will also get the opportunity to assist in various departments at the Haverhill and Plaistow Y’s. 11 years & up Y Member $30 Community $60 This beginner’s running schedule has helped thousands of new runners get off the couch and onto the roads; running 3 miles in just two months. Registrants will obtain all the required weekly workouts to train for the 5K. Boxers Workout

Fee: Y Member $54 Community $84 This class in instructed by John Reyes. John began training in Tae Kwon-Do, in 1975. John is presently certified as a 4th degree black belt. He is also a certified boxing coach, a former kick-boxing judge with the ISKA, and a former director of the Massachusetts faction of the United States Tae Kwon-Do Federation. In addition John Reyes is a N.E.A.A.U. Lightweight Karate Champion; who competed nationally. Timed rounds of, jump boxing, mirror work, focus mitts and boxing exercises (pushups, crunches, squats, medicine ball), with boxing technique and instruction. PLS Y Wednesday 6:00-6:45pm

Women Basketball League

Fee: Y Member $50 Community $80 The Plaistow Community YMCA will be hosting a Women’s 30+ Basketball league. The league will begin Wednesday April 29th and run for ten weeks including play offs. Games will be held on Sunday mornings at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Players must register individually and can be placed on team of friends that they wish to play with. Free agents will be place on a team with other free agents or on a team that needs additional players. Teams must have at least six players and no more than ten players on a team. Team shirts will be provided by the YMCA. The team that finishes in first place will receive a championship trophy. For questions, please contact Clint Clay, Regional Sports Director. Men 30+ Adult Basketball League

Team Fee: $600 Fee: Y Member $60 Community $80 One Time Jersey Fee: $15 This league is designed for adults who are looking for a fun and competitive league. Season will last 10 weeks plus playoffs. The season will begin May 5th. Teams must be paid in full before season starts. Rosters may not have more than a 10 players. Roster must be submitted by April 29th. Players must attend at least 6 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs. Games will be held on Tuesday nights each week. There will be an addition charge for team jerseys. YMCA Lifeguard Training

Ages: 16 years & up Fee: Y Member $310 Community $380 Students are trained in the nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the session and must attend all classes. Please be sure to update your email address as there is online pre-course work.
