Youth and Teen Fitness Orientation

Ages: 12 & 13 years Fee: Member Benefit This program is intended for young adults who are ready to start working out, but are still too young to be on their own in the fitness center. Over the course of 3 separate orientations, our wellness coaches will work with your child to get them safely trained on each piece of equipment. Each orientation will last 45 minutes. At the end of this orientation program, your child will graduate with the ability to use the fitness facility on their own. Basketball Training

Grades: 3-8 Fee: Members $95 Community $105 Don’t miss this four week low-ratio intensive training to help you jump higher, run and cut faster and gain stronger ball control. This 60 minute training will help improve your basketball skills and fitness development while honing your free throw and shooting skills. FIT-TASTIC KIDS FIT-tastic Kids, a program developed by the YMCA of the North Shore, teaches kids ages 8 to 14 how to eat a healthier diet and increase daily physical activity. In this FREE program, children learn how to make healthy food choices and will bring home recipes and fitness ideas to their families to continue healthy lifestyle habits at home. The goal is for both kids and their families to be FIT-tastic together. FIT-tastic Kids offers flexible scheduling for each family to begin at any time, includes an 8-week Y youth membership and is free, thanks to the generousity of donors and grantors. The Plaistow Community YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club is a Volunteer-based program designed to build leadership skills and confidence in teens. Baseball Training Program

Grades: 1-8 8 Week Fee: Y Members $60 Community $120 Looking to improve your baseball skills before the season starts up? The Plaistow Community YMCA has just the class to get your young superstar ready for the diamond. This Pre-Season baseball training will consist of strength and conditioning along with basic fundaments such as fielding, pitching and hitting. Classes will begin Monday April 27th and Wednesday April 29th and will run for eight weeks. Class length is one hour. Located at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Pee Wee Soccer League

Ages: 3-5 years 6 Week Fee: Y Members $60 Community $80 Six Week 2nd child Fee: Y Members $40 Community $60 This fun outdoor introduction to soccer is a great exercise in developing team play concepts and motor skills. The League will be starting on May 9th and play for 6 weeks and will end on June 13th.Teams will meet for one hour, with 30 minutes of team practice time followed by a 30 minute game. Games will take place in the field located behind the Plaistow Community YMCA. The inclement weather location will be inside on Plaistow Community YMCA courts. Summer Youth Basketball

Ages: Entering Grades1-8, co-ed Fee: Members $60 Community $90 Join our Summer Youth Basketball League! This league is all fun and a great way stay on top of your basketball game over the summer. League play is 6 weeks. Groups consist of two or more age groups. Teams will meet once a week for one hour game throughout the six week season. All games will be played at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Team shirts will be provided to all players. Teams are formed through a blind draft. Spring Pee Wee Basketball League

NEW OPPORTUNITY! Ages: 3-Kindergarten Fee: Y Member $40 Community $80 Check out this new spring sports league for your little one! Our new Pee Wee Basketball league will be held at the Plaistow Community YMCA on Wednesday evenings with games beginning at 5:00pm. Teams will meet for one hour each week for a 30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute game. Season will begin April 22nd.

Spring Plaistow Pee Wee Floor Hockey League

Ages: 3-K years Six Week Fee: Y Members $50 Community $70 Bring your preschooler down to the Plaistow YMCA for our Spring Pee Wee Floor Hockey League. Children will be instructed on the basic fundamentals of floor hockey including stick handling, shooting, passing, scoring and teamwork while using age appropriate equipment. Teams will meet on Thursday evenings for on hour each week for thirty minute of practice and thirty minutes of game play. Games will begin April 23rd and play for six weeks. Spring Youth Floor Hockey

Grade 1-8 & Pee Wee 3-Kindergaten Fee: Y Members $50 Community $80 Join our Spring Youth Floor Hockey League! League play will consist of 6 weeks. Team will have 4 regular season games followed by a two week tournament. Games will be played outside weather permitting. Teams will meet once a week for a game. Players are selected through a blind draft. Division may consist of two or more grades. Games will be played on Thursdays and Saturdays depending on the divisions. Games will be played at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Volunteer coaches are needed for this program. Season Begins May 9th

8 Week Session Ages: 5+ years Fee: Y Member $76 Community $152 Learn what it takes to become a prima ballerina! Students are introduced to basic skills, combinations, and terminology while having lots of fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Skills include but are not limited to leaps, jumps, turns, and centre floor positions! Students will learn the basics of tap dance including isolations, combinations, and staying on beat with the music. Students will also learn basic tap choreography to today's hits in a fun and structured environment! This is held in the new Group Exercise Studio. PCY Saturday 12:30-1:15pm

Hip-Hop/Jazz Jr.

8 Week Session Ages: 6-10 years Fee: Y Member $76 Community $152 Come and join us in learning upbeat and entertaining choreography to today's hottest hits! Students will learn about body isolations, strength, balance, and coordination along with a strong sense of rhythm. Students will learn the fundamentals of classical Jazz. This class is fun and upbeat, and also focuses on technique and introduces basic flexibility. Students will learn turns, combination steps, jumps and leaps while moving to today's age appropriate hits! No previous experience needed! This class will be held in the new Group Exercise studio. 6-9 years Y Members $40 Community $80 Does your child love sports and enjoy playing games? Then this class is what you are looking for. Participants must know how to play the basics of soccer, basketball, floor hockey, kick ball, dodge ball. Participants will come to the Y each week and meet with their coach for five minutes of warm up and explanation and then just play! Classes will run for 45 minutes. PCY Wednesday 6:00-6:45pm

April Vacation Floor Hockey Tournament Fee:

Y Member $20 Community $40 Create and submit your own team into the April vacation youth floor hockey tournament. Games will be held Monday April 20th through Friday 24th in the evening at the Plaistow Community YMCA. This is a double elimination tournament meaning each team will be guaranteed at least two games. Each team will need a volunteer coach to facilitate substitution and game play. Tournament team roster must but be submitted a week prior to the start of the tournament.

Intramural Sports

Grades: 1 –5 Fee: Y Members $20 Per Month Community $40 Per Month Intramural sports and activities are led by YMCA staff and promote positive and healthy choice sports and activities weekdays after school. Join in the fun and play organized basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, games and more! Transportation is provided from Pollard Elementary School. YMCA BUS Take the bus to the Plaistow Community YMCA! Busing is available every day after school with these easy steps. 1. Send a note with your student to school, granting your permission. 2. Utilizing practice and fun activities, our staff will focusing on the 10 fundamental steps of archery with the goal of improving precision and accuracy. Session length is 8 weeks. Fun Face Academy Fun Face Express is teaming up with the YMCA to offer local youth and adults premium face painting instruction. Program offers level-based classes so there is something for all skill levels. Women Basketball League Fee:

Y Member $50 Community $80 Join this fun-filled, friendly competition women’s basketball league beginning Wednesday April 29th and running for ten weeks including playoffs. Games will be held at the Plaistow Community YMCA. Players must register individually and can be placed on team with friends they request to play with. “Free agents” will be placed on a team with other “free agents” or on a team that needs additional players. Teams must have at least six players and no more than ten players. Team shirts will be provided by the YMCA. The team that finishes in first place will receive a championship trophy. Team Fee: $600 Fee: Y Member $60 Community $80 One Time Jersey Fee: $15 This league is designed for men looking for a fun and competitive league. The season begins May 5th and lasts 10 weeks plus playoffs. Teams must be paid in full before season starts. Rosters may not have more than 10 players. Rosters must be submitted by April 29th. YMCA Lifeguard Training Ages: Fee:

16 years & up Y Member $310 Community $380 Get trained in the nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the session and must attend all classes. Please be sure to update your email address as there is online pre-course work. Teen Service Trips We are encouraging tomorrow’s leaders, global thinkers and social responsibility among our teens.
