SUMMER CAMPS AND PROGRAMS
SUMMER OF ADVENTURE A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES www.northshoreymca.org
WELCOME TO Y CAMP! OUR AWESOME YMCA CAMP STAFF IS HERE FOR YOU!
Our experienced and trained staff are dedicated to helping your child achieve personal goals in a safe and fun environment this summer. Counselors undergo extensive training in our policies and procedures which always puts the health and safety of your child first. Every staff member participates in local trainings which cover topics including behavior management, child abuse prevention, basic child psychology, First Aid and CPR. In addition, all staff attend YMCA training led by nationally respected camp facilitators. In depth background and criminal history checks are performed on ALL YMCA staff.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Y summer camps are for everyone – regardless of income. The Y provides financial assistance for families who are unable to pay the full camp fee. Subsidies are available thanks to the generous support of YMCA Annual Campaign donors. Contact your local Y or visit our website at www.northshoreymca.org for a confidential financial assistance application or to make a donation. Applications should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp session to allow for processing.
WE ARE TACKLING SUMMER LEARNING LOSS
During the summer children often experience “summer learning loss” when they are not involved in high quality programs with opportunities for skill building. As a result, children can forget up to 2 months of academic instruction, particularly in the areas of reading and math when they are not in school. Camps provide the opportunity to reduce summer learning loss in an expanded learning environment where children are engaged and have an opportunity for enrichment. At the Y we are committed to helping prevent summer learning loss. All of our camps have activities that focus on reading comprehension, progressive skill building and problem-solving. Research has shown that kids who are involved in camps over the summer are more prepared for the next school year.
EXTENDED CARE OPTIONS
A majority of our camps offer Morning and Afternoon Extended Care, so you can drop your child off as early as 7:30am and pick up as late as 6:00pm. Early Bird and Late Bird activities will be conducted by our staff. Fee: $30/week (includes am and pm)
PARENT HANDOOK & ENROLLMENT PACKET
A Parent Handbook and Camp Enrollment Packet can be mailed or emailed per request. You can also find them online.
