We provide developmental experiences in fun ways to help young people thrive, build confidence in themselves and others and become healthy, caring, responsible adults. Camp is an exciting place to make friends and lasting memories. The Y is committed to offering the camp experience to all despite their ability to pay. We offer financial assistance to individuals and families who cannot afford programs. Our camp counselors will help cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, healthy habits and educational achievement.

Your camp registration is not complete until all required forms (including health forms) are completed and submitted to the Y. Our caring staff empower campers to learn about the world, develop interpersonal skills, and engage in new and creative activities. Employees are hired based on Department of Public Health guidelines including: formal interviews, experience, training, and extensive background checks. All staff members are CPR and First Aid certified and participate in a seven-day training that includes youth development, leadership skills, and activity planning.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration
The YMCA of the North Shore makes registering and paying for camp easy and convenient. Parents can register in person at the front desk or online and can choose from one of the three following payment methods: • Pay in full at the time of registration. • Use our convenient E-pay system and we’ll automatically draft either a credit/debit card or checking account 7 days prior to the start of your camp session. Never worry about remembering to pay! Secure your spot with a $25 deposit which can be credited for other camps or programs up until 7 days prior to the start of the camp session. • Pay a $25 non-refundable deposit at time of registration and then pay the balance at least 7 days prior to the start of camp. An emergency phone number and email contact are required at time of registration.
Camp Change Policy
All camp changes must be done in writing and submitted to the camp registrar at salemycamps@northshoreymca.org. • Families on E-Pay will receive free changes as needed throughout the camp season. • Families not on E-Pay receive one free change and will be charged a fee of $15 per change per camper after that.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
All camp cancellations must be done in writing and submitted to the camp registrar at salemycamps@northshoreymca.org. • All cancellations accompanied by a doctor’s note any time prior to the start of your child’s camp session will receive full refund. • For families on E-pay, all cancellation submitted more than 7 days prior to the start of your child’s camp session will receive a YMCA credit. All cancellations submitted less than 7 days before the start of your child camp session will receive a credit minus the $25 deposit. All cancellations received on or after the start of your child’s session will receive a YMCA credit for the prorated amount paid based on the remaining number of days in the session minus the $25 deposit. • For families not on E-pay, all cancellations submitted more than 7 days before the start of your child camp session will receive a refund minus the $25 deposit. All cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the start of the session will receive a refund minus the $25 deposit and a $25 processing fee. All cancellations received on or after the start of your child’s session will receive a Y credit for the pro-rated amount paid based on the remaining number of days in the session less the $25 deposit and $25 processing fee. Marine Adventures in Salem Sound
Limited to 12 campers per week Ages: 10-14 years, co-ed Campers connect with the amazing biodiversity of the Salem Sound coastal area and explore it as an ecosystem that hosts a variety of land and aquatic species. They will learn about its function as a watershed and how the living and non-living interact in a complex system. Activities include: map reading and learning the history of Salem’s coast, experiential exploration of the different habitats Salem Sound offers (tide pooling, seining, bird watching, salt marsh explorations), water quality testing, storytelling, and nature arts & crafts. As part of the study, children will go on a boat excursion aboard Endeavour/Sea Station, where they will cruise along the coast of Salem Sound for a big picture view and explore the sea floor using an underwater camera and other on-board equipment. Marine Technology Engineering in Salem Sound
Limited to 12 campers per week Ages: 10-14 years, co-ed Campers will learn about the history of marine technology, starting with Native American technology, then learning about local navigators such as Nathaniel Bowditch and the tools used in early trans-ocean trade. They will also learn about current marine technology that allows organizations like Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute to explore the oceans in ways that have never been possible before. Campers will use the engineering design process to build their own ROV (Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle). On the final day of the week, students will take a boat ride in Salem Sound on Endeavour/ Sea Station to test out their designs, as well as use on-board marine technology including a plankton tow & microscope, underwater camera & sled, and the Captain’s navigation instruments. The YMCA Outdoor Leadership Development program helps young people make bold strides toward competent selfhood. Through extraordinary wilderness experiences, we nurture multi-cultural leadership skills in youth 10–18 years old. We offer expeditions that range from 1-3 days, including backpacking, rock climbing, fishing, yoga and art, and the kind of good-natured fun that leads to long-term friendships. You don’t have to have experience or outdoor gear, but you do need an open heart, an inquisitive mind and a thirst for adventure. Join us in exploring nature’s sprawling grandeur—we’ll teach you the leadership skills you need to thrive in the wild, as well as in high school, college and beyond!

Activities will include hiking and rock climbing in the White Mountains, kayaking and tubing on the Saco River and the team high ropes elements at Sterling Center Camp. Presidential Traverse Adventure
Ages: 14-18 years, co-ed Dates: 6/30-7/3 Hike towards independence on this epic trail in the White Mountains of NH. Stay at high peaks shelters and wake up to beautiful sunrises above the clouds. Participants learn valuable wilderness skills and develop essential life skills. This unique combination fosters an appreciation for the environment, develops self-esteem, instills a spirit of adventure, and promotes teamwork, friendship, and a sense of community through memorable wilderness experiences. Great views and great excitement await, but the focus of this trip is purely hiking and campers should be prepared for strenuous activity. Maine Whitewater Rafting
Ages: 15-18 years, co-ed Dates: 7/12–7/13 Spend a memorable day rafting the rapids of the pristine rivers winding through the scenic region of Western Maine. Professional guides lead these exiting adventures on Class II, III and IV rapids. The Kennebec River offers plenty of excitement as the group works together to paddle their raft as well as provide great riverside lunch spots and the chance to encounter wildlife such as moose, osprey, and eagles. Kingdom Trails Mountain Biking Trip
Ages: 13-17 years, co-ed Dates: 7/26-7/27 Explore some of the best mountain-bike terrain in Vermont. Kingdom Trails is a multiple-use trail system unlike any other and recently voted as the BEST MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL NETWORK in North America by Bike Magazine. Start off honing your skills on dirt roads, single track and double track before venturing to other acclaimed areas for longer rides. Learn to shift like a pro, cross streams and logs, make field repairs, climb and descend with confidence and be comfortable with varying terrain. At the end of the day, retire to a campground for dinner and a swim. Mountain biking sections are designed for beginner to intermediate bikers to ensure that everyone is comfortable riding together. We recommend bringing your own bike if you have one, but pre-serviced bikes are available and included in the cost of the program. Advanced Backpacking & Leadership Training
Ages: 14-18 years, co-ed Dates: One Week Session: 7/28-8/1 Weekend Trip: 4 Monday evening skill sessions ( 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 8/4) culminating in a 3-day advanced backpacking trip 8/8-8/10 Participants learn valuable wilderness skills and develop essential life skills. This unique combination fosters an appreciation for the environment, develops self-esteem, instills a spirit of adventure, and promotes teamwork, friendship, and a sense of community through memorable wilderness experiences. Great views and great excitement await, but the focus of this trip is purely hiking and campers should be prepared for strenuous activity.
