Summer Camp plays an important part in the lives of our communities’ youth as they develop towards adulthood. Children realize important life lessons and make memories each day as they learn from their surroundings and peers. In a Salem YMCA Summer Camps, we provide children with a positive, safe, fun, and creative summer experience. In every camp that we offer, we will strive to make it a great summer experience for your child. Through innovative activities along with qualified staff and counselors, your child will grow to his/her highest potential.

Camp Naumkeag provides children with a classic day camp experience! Located on the beautiful shores of Salem, MA, Camp Naumkeag will give your child the chance to explore themselves through fun-filled activities and help build their confidence in what they can achieve.

OUR PROMISE
Y summer camps are for everyone regardless of income. The Y provides financial assistance for families who are unable to pay the full camp fee. Subsidies are available thanks to the generous support of “Y for All” donors and United Way contributions. Contact your local Y or visit our website at www.northshoreymca.org for a confidential financial assistance application or to make a contribution. Applications should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the start of the camp session to allow for processing.

Camp Naumkeag and YMCA of the North Shore specialty camps comply with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Parents have the right to request to review the following policies: background review, health care, discipline policies and grievance procedures.

Once your registration has been processed, you will be mailed a parent packet, which includes full enrollment forms to be completed and submitted to the Y. Your camp registration is not complete until all required forms (including health forms) are completed and submitted to the Y. Our purpose is to make your child’s summer camp experience positive, safe, fun, creative and educational summer experience. Through innovative curriculum and activities led by our qualified and experienced staff counselors, our camp will help your children grow to their highest potential, while having a blast! Our summer camps foster cooperation rather than competition as a means of growth. We place a very strong emphasis on creating a setting where all children feel safe exploring new ideas and learning about their world. Making new friendships and renewing the old is an integral component of our collective success‌it is what keeps all of us coming back year after year. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration
NEW THIS YEAR - Our improved E-pay system makes paying for camp easier than ever! The YMCA of the North Shore makes registering and paying for camp easy and convenient. Parents can register in person at the front desk or online and can choose from one of the three following payment methods: • Pay in full at the time of registration. • Use our convenient E-pay system and we’ll automatically draft either a credit/debit card or checking account 7 days prior to the start of your camp session. Never worry about remembering to pay! Secure your spot with a $25 deposit which can be credited for other camps or programs up until 7 days prior to the start of the camp session. • Pay a $25 non-refundable deposit at time of registration and then pay the balance at least 7 days prior to the start of camp. An emergency phone number and email contact are required at time of registration.
Camp Change Policy
All camp changes must be done in writing and submitted to the camp registrar at salemycamps@northshoreymca.org. • Families on E-Pay will receive free changes as needed throughout the camp season. • Families not on E-Pay receive one free change and will be charged a fee of $15 per change per camper after that.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
All camp cancellations must be done in writing and submitted to the camp registrar at salemycamps@northshoreymca.org • All cancellations accompanied by a doctor’s note any time prior to the start of your child’s camp session will receive full refund. • For families on E-pay, all cancellation submitted more than 7 days prior to the start of your child’s camp session will receive a YMCA credit. All cancellations submitted less than 7 days before the start of your child camp session will receive a credit minus the $25 deposit. All cancellations received on or after the start of your child’s session will receive a YMCA credit for the pro-rated amount paid based on the remaining number of days in the session minus the $25 deposit. • For families not on E-pay, all cancellations submitted more than 7 days before the start of your child camp session will receive a refund minus the $25 deposit. All cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the start of the session will receive a refund minus the $25 deposit and a $25 processing fee. All cancellations received on or after the start of your child’s session will receive a Y credit for the pro-rated amount paid based on the remaining number of days in the session less the $25 deposit and $25 processing fee. Limited to 25 campers per week Ages: 5-8 years, co-ed Young Pioneers camp is a great way for kids to spend their summer enjoying all the Y has to offer! Located at the Salem YMCA, kids will spend their days dancing in the studio, running in the gym, swimming in our pool, playing in the parks, participating in exciting theme weeks and creating masterful hands-on art projects. Campers will also have the opportunity to attend our weekly field trips. Our highly qualified staff are excited to make your child’s camp experience one they will never forget! Explorers Day Camp
Limited to 150 campers per week Ages: 5-12 years, co-ed Y Explorers Camp provides quality traditional day camping experiences that aim to help children grown in spirit, mind and body. All programs are designed to teach the positive values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Each group has a section of Explorer’s Camp to call their own. Camper groups participate throughout the day in regularly scheduled activities as well as interacting frequently with other camp groups. The quality of your child’s experiences is our top priority. Your child will cherish lifelong memories of swimming, kayaking, archery, games, science, nature, sports, crafts, theme weeks, cook-outs and more. Our staff are carefully chosen and trained to provide your child with a safe, fun and rewarding summer. Explorers L.I.T. Camp (Leaders In Training)
Limited to 7 campers per week Ages: 13-14 years, co-ed This program is a fine opportunity for our older campers to continue the great summer fun. LIT’s will participate together in a variety of fun and personal growth activities, develop specific camp projects and begin their transition in becoming future camp leaders, all while being skillfully guided as they assist with younger camp groups. Dennis Heenan Basketball Camp

Our morning skills sessions build upon each other to help guide afternoon games. This camp is held outside on Salem Common weather permitting and includes daily swim times at the Salem YMCA indoor pool. Adventure Camp
Limited to 16 campers per week Ages: 10-14 years, co-ed The Salem YMCA Adventure Camp is more than just a summer camp. Our instructors deliver a progressive outdoor experience starting with skill building and culminating with real leadership - and plenty of fun along the way. Your camper will experience kayaking along the Ipswich River and the coastal shores, hiking to new heights, and challenging themselves on our YMCA of the North Shore high ropes course. Theatre Camp Ages: Entering Grades 3-8, co-ed The summer is a perfect time to join in the fun and festivities of putting on a play. Why not join the Y Theatre Company for our Theatre Camp this summer? It promises to be an experience your child will never forget as they work with our professional theatre team and kids from across the North Shore to create a full scale production. This camp gives young stars an opportunity to experience the progression of a full scale show. From auditions and casting to blocking and choreography, it all culminates in a final performance to “show off” for friends and family.
