Ages: 8-12 Fee: Y Members $60 Community $75 Students will use LEGOS® as the building blocks for fun, friendships and learning. We will explore deep space, build a city, create thrilling adventures and hang out with super heroes. Each class, students will have plenty of time to build with LEGOS®. Invent It, Build It

Ages: 7 -12 Fee: Y Member $90 Community $120 Physics isn’t just for scientists, it’s for kids too! Work on cool projects that help kids learn the concepts of buoyancy, truss, friction, force, gravity, and much, much more. SALY Thursday 4:00-5:00pm

Baby Broadway

Ages: 2-3 years Fee: Y Member $45 Community $60 Dance, sing, and explore stories in this class for your little star! Play instruments, dance to music, listen to stories, and learn to act them out. Class length is 30 minutes. SALY Friday 2:30pm

Improv Troupe

Ages: 12-16 years Fee: Y Member $80 Community $96 Strengthen your acting talent with improv skills. This is an awesome opportunity to be part of a brand new Improv Troupe and learn how to be spontaneous and perform on the fly. Taught by local professional Improv actors. SALY Thursday 6:00-8:00pm

Tiny Dancers

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $50 Community $60 This class is for our youngest students, stressing listening skills, coordination and development of motor skills. This is a combination class introducing the basics of ballet and jazz. There is a focus on basic terminology and music appreciation while allowing opportunities for creative expression. Starlets: Mini Magic Musicals: Peter Pan

Ages: 4-7 years Fee: Y Member $65 Community $90 Your dramatic young star will shine on stage in a mini stage production! In this class, children develop stage presence, confidence and basic theatre knowledge as they learn and rehearse songs and scenes. The class culminates in a performance for friends and family. Glee Club*

Open to singers ages 12-18 years Fee: Members $50 Community $65 This group of singers will work with classically trained and incredibly talented professional vocal performer Samantha Gambaccini. Samantha will vocally coach the a capella group as they learn more about harmonies and performance techniques. The club will meet once a week and have the opportunity to perform at various community events on the North Shore. Keep your eye out for auditions next fall! *Spaces are limited for this group.

Voice Lessons Vocal Recital

It's time to shine! Private Vocal Lesson Students will be showing off their attained skills at a March 14th performance in the newly renovated Ames Hall! Want to perform? It's not too late. The only pre-requisite is a minimum of one private voice lesson. Performances will be open to the public. Jr. Actors Club: Peter Pan!

Ages: 4-9 Y Members $95 Fee: $115 Community This once a week class meets and rehearses as a sister club to our full production of Peter Pan Jr. Learn 2 scenes or songs from our current theatrical production and perform alongside our cast show weekend! Class will meet during Peter Pan Jr.’s rehearsal time and join the cast for rehearsals. Learn the basics of singing, dancing, and acting. Shine on stage in your very own costume under the lights! This class offers a great alternative to our full theatrical production for kids who have busy schedules or want to dip a toe into what it’s like to be in a play! Thursdays 4pm-5pm SALY

Adult Classes with the Theatre Co. The Business of Acting Ages: Fee:

18+ Y Member $95 Community $105 This one day seminar for adults covers acting as a business, providing resources and motivation to pursue local and regional acting opportunities in film, theater and tv. Perfect for beginners. The seminar includes: an overview of the business in New England, , marketing and preparation (including your brand image), working with unions and agents, audition resources and preparations, tips for once you’ve booked a job, and much more! The instructor, Karen Eris (Scalia) is a seasoned union actor and voiceover artist who resides in the Salem area. This 8 week course gives the student an understanding and practice an overall sense of Improvisation acting. Classes include exercises in practice & performance, Stage presence and confidence, and Experience performing for audiences. This course is instructed by local actor and comedian Mark Scalia. Empowering young people, while educating our community about environmental responsibility, is the focus of the Salem YMCA Teen Program. Our program allows every young person in our city an equal opportunity to make a difference in the world. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s world leaders; if we can realize and experience the benefits of community service and environmental stewardship, the future will be a better place. Open to all teens in the Salem community, SAYmedia, our Y's vocational media center, nurtures the talents and dreams of Salem teens through teaching a variety of digital media production skills like graphics, web technologies, film production and editing. Kids are armed with the know-how to work in the media industry and are given opportunities to put their new-found skills to work with real clients.

Dennis Heenan Basketball League Ages:

5-8 years (Rookies) 9-13 years (Juniors) Fee: Y Member-$45 Community-$65 This highly successful program concentrates on teaching the basic skills of dribbling, shooting and passing through a series of practices and games. All classes run on Saturdays and consist of a half hour of instruction followed by league games. This league stands apart by having lower hoops for the Rookie division, enabling young players to develop proper form in shooting and gain confidence. Weight training is a necessary component of every woman’s exercise program for numerous reasons such as weight loss and the fight against bone loss. Fee: Y Member Free Community Free Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body. The program includes: • Free 12-week adult Y membership • Two free 75 minute classes per week • Full access to the Y seven days a week CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION • Class is available for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment as well as those who have completed their treatment and are looking to regain health and improve quality of life. • Strong personal desire. Patient needs to enroll in program, rather than a family member. • Personally commit to attending all classes • Inform their physician of their plan to join the program and obtain a signed medical clearance form. • Give permission for Y Fitness staff to call physician or person giving treatment when necessary. • Participate in an interview with our Survivor Advocate, complete a confidential health assessment and program registration forms. PWR! Parkinson Wellness Recovery Training

Fee: Y Member Free Community $5 This class will have participants engaging in researched based exercise specifically tailored for Parkinson’s that is Neuroplasticity principled, holds promise to slow disease progression, restore motor function, increase longevity and quality of life. Class will be led by Gail Perry Borden, PWR! Fitness Professional and Parkinsonian. Participants should be able to walk and stand unassisted. CPR and Oxygen for Adult/Child/ Infant

Ages: 12 years & up Fee: $70/per person Course certifies all participants in on the Professional CPR level. Course also certifies participants in oxygen administration. Course covers basic CPR skills, blocked airways and use of a defibrillator. It also introduces bag-valve mask and 2-rescuer CPR skills. Certification meets criteria for nurses, lifeguards, police and fire in addition to all other members of the community that include childcare providers, fitness professionals and teachers. Ages: 12 years & up Fee: $60/per person Learn the protocols for emergency care and how to help in an emergency situation.
