PROGRAM REGISTRATION REFuNDS & PROGRAM CANCEllATIONS

• The Y reserves the right to cancel a class in the event of insufficient enrollment for which a full refund will be issued. • On-Line Credits: On-line credits will be offered for the remainder of any money paid on programs. The amount refunded will be calculated at the time of the request. Credits will be offered for remaining class sessions, calculated when the request is made. You can request a credit form at the front desk or by contacting the director. • Credit Card or Check Refunds: The Y will issue a credit card or check refund: - If, for any reason, the Y cancels a class, participants will be offered the option for refund for that cancelled class. - If a participant cancels their registration prior to the start of the program session. - For classes missed due to illness (a doctor’s note is required) or if you are not 100% satisfied with your class experience. • Refunds will be offered for remaining class sessions and calculated when the request is made. You can request a refund form at the front desk or by contacting the director.

WAIT lIST POlICY

If a program is full, you may be placed on the wait list. You will make no payment at that time and will be contacted by a program director if we are able to add you into the program. Please make sure that we have your correct address, email and phone number on file for notification.

PRORATING

The Y will prorate a program registration only after the second week of the start of the session (two missed classes).

ART, THEATRE & DANCE Art Show

Ages: 5-8 Fee: Y Members $90 Community $120 Ready? Set. PAINT! We will be mixing the fundaments of art (color, shape, line, texture, space and value) with different mediums of art. All students’ art work will be on display at Y Community Art show at the end of the session. Family members are encouraged to come to the Art Show reception at the end of the session. lego Adventures

Ages: 8-12 Fee: Y Members $60 Community $75 Students will use LEGOS® as the building blocks for fun, friendships and learning. We will explore deep space, build a city, create thrilling adventures and hang out with super heroes. Each class, students will have plenty of time to build with LEGOS®. Kids will have the opportunity to make new friends, play games and enjoy activities. SAlY Tuesday 4:00-5:00pm

Invent It, Build It

Ages: 7 -12 Fee: Y Member $90 Community $120 Physics isn’t just for scientists, it’s for kids too! Work on cool projects that help kids learn the concepts of buoyancy, truss, friction, force, gravity, and much, much more. SAlY Thursday 4:00-5:00pm

Oh the Drama!

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $55 Community $70 Introduce your child to the world of theatre and creative play! This fun class encourages pre-schoolers to explore their imaginations using masks, storytelling, creative movement, puppets and folk tales. A great opportunity for children to “make believe”! Tiny Dancers

Ages: 3-5 years Fee: Y Member $50 Community $60 This class is for our youngest students, stressing listening skills, coordination and development of motor skills. This is a combination class introducing the basics of ballet and jazz. There is a focus on basic terminology and music appreciation while allowing opportunities for creative expression. Mini Magic Musicals: The Jungle Book

Ages: 4-7 years Fee: Y Member $65 Community $90 Your dramatic young star will shine on stage in a mini stage production! In this class, children develop stage presence, confidence and basic theatre knowledge as they learn and rehearse songs and scenes. The class culminates in a performance for friends and family. Improv Troupe

Ages: 12-16 years Fee: Y Member $80 Community $96 Strengthen your acting talent with improv skills. This is an awesome opportunity to be part of a brand new Improv Troupe and learn how to be spontaneous and perform on the fly. Taught by local professional Improv actors. SAlY Wednesday 6:00-8:00pm

Glee Club*

Open to singers ages 12-18 years Fee: Members $35 Community $50 Introducing, the YMCA Glee Club! This group of singers will work with classically trained and incredibly talented professional vocal performer Samantha Gambaccini. Samantha will vocally coach the a capella group as they learn more about harmonies and performance techniques. The club will meet once a week and have the opportunity to perform at various community events on the North Shore. Auditions will be held at the Salem YMCA on September 10 and 11 at 6:00-8:00pm with callbacks on September 12. Infant/Toddler

Ages: 6 weeks-33 months Our educators create an optimum environment for infants and toddlers to learn about themselves and others through movement and communication and to explore the world around them with curiosity and confidence.

PRESCHOOl Preschool

Ages: 33 months-5 years At the Salem Early Learning Center your child will learn ageappropriate developmental skills on a fun-filled schedule of activities each month. Knowledgeable about the stages of child development and using Creative Curriculum, teachers create classroom environments that foster learning and development in four areas— socio-emotional, physical, cognitive and language, including literacy skills.

SCHOOl AGE CARE School’s Out at the Y

Ages: Grades K-8 The Salem YMCA provides a safe and fun environment for local children during the afterschool hours. Our on-site program includes transportation from schools, a healthy afternoon meal, homework time, social time, arts & crafts, games and recreational activities. We also offer opportunities for children to swim and participate in clubs and special projects. Our regular hours are 2:00-4:00pm, and we are also open on half-days, full-days, teacher development days, school vacations and most holidays.

YOuTH DEVElOPMENT NuRTuRING THE POTENTIAl OF EVERY CHIlD AND TEEN School’s Out Program Off-Site locations Bentley, Nathaniel Bowditch & Carlton Elementary Schools Ages: Grades K-8 The Salem YMCA also offers off-site afterschool options at the Bentley, Nathaniel Bowditch and Carlton Elementary Schools. These programs include healthy afternoon meals, homework time, social time, arts & crafts, age appropriate games and recreational activities. The programs also offer additional clubs such as Lego Club, Kindergarten Club, Art Club and more. Hours are from school dismissal until 6:00pm.

Before School Program

Bentley, Nathaniel Bowditch & Carlton Elementary Schools

Ages: Grades K-8 New this year, the Salem YMCA will be providing before school programming at all YMCA off-site locations. YMCA before school programming provides children with a safe and welcoming environment with games, craft projects, enrichment activities and social time with friends—and allows parents to get to work on-time! Drop-off begins at 6:30am. All Children participating in the Salem Y School’s Out and/or Before School program(s) receive a youth membership to the Salem YMCA. Half day programming runs at your child’s normal site location for no additional fee. Full day programming is always held at the Salem YMCA. Pre-registration is required. Enrollment forms are available at northshoreymca.org or stop by and pick them up at the Salem YMCA front desk. Baby Gym

Ages: 6 months-12 months Fee: Y Member $109 Community $160 As babies ages 6 months to 1 year begin walking and gain mobility, instructors introduce new and stimulating activities. Parents are led through a variety of beginning stretches, exercises, infant songs and balance and agility skills. A great class to enhance your baby’s physical and cognitive development and provide parents an opportunity to make new friends! Parent participation required. Parent & Tot Gym I

Ages: 12-24 months Fee: Y Member $109 Community $160 In this gymnastics class, parents are given the opportunity to positively interact and support their child in a fun environment. Children develop healthy habits, coordination, balance and peer s ocialization skills through social interaction, music, games, parachute play and gymnastics circuits. The floor, tumble trak, trampoline and pit will be explored. Class structure is very minimal, parent participation required with the expectation that parents keep their children with the teacher. Play Gym

Ages: 4-11 years Fee: Y Member $65 Community $95 Each week a different obstacle course will be set up by the instructors and a new game will be played. Children will have a half hour of structured activities followed by a half hour of free play supervised by our instructors. This is a great opportunity for parents to workout while your children enjoy a class all their own! Class length is 1 hour. LVO Sunday 9:30am

Ages: 4-6 years Fee: Y Member $135 Community $200 This class combines the fun in the pool and the gym! In the gym, we provide games and activities which help your child develop physical and social skills. In the pool, your child will work on water adjustment, the use of flotation devices, water safety and having fun! This class starts with gymnastics followed by swimming, so we encourage children to come dressed in their bathing suits for an easy transition to swim. Kinder Team

Boys Extreme Sports I

Ages: 6 years & older Fee: Y Member $135 Community $200 This is an action packed movement and conditioning class for boys. Jumping, tumbling, climbing and movement will all be explored to the max. Ages: 4-6 years Fee: Y Member $109 Community $160 An advanced class for the serious student who wants to progress quickly in gymnastics. This class is an excellent preparatory class for children who are interested in joining the YMCA Mini-Team. Instructor recommendation suggested. Tumbling and Trampoline Tots

Ages: 4-6 years Fee: Y Member $109 Community $160 In this class your child will explore the tumbling aspect of gymnastics. Gymnasts will be jumping into the pit, bouncing on the trampoline and tumble trak, and learning rolls, handstands and cartwheels. A great class for a future cheerleader. Class length is 40 minutes. lVO Monday 11:00am

Mini Team

Ages: 5-6 years Fee: Y Member $175 Community $260 Mini Team is a terrific class for our more experienced students. Advanced gymnastics skills are introduced on all of the apparatus weekly. This class is instructor recommended and will help prepare young gymnasts for future competitive gymnastics. Empowering young people, while educating our community about enviromental responsibility, is the focus of the Salem YMCA Teen Program. Our program allows every young person in our city an equal opportunity to make a difference in the world. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s world leaders; if we can realize and experience the benefits of community service and environmental stewardship, the future will be a better place. Girls Today

This free program gives young teen girls the opportunity to discover new things about themselves, express their feeling and get to meet new people. Through this weekly program they will be introduced to community activities, art projects with local artists, volunteer opportunities, and monthly guest speakers. FIT-TASTIC KIDS FIT-tastic Kids is a program developed by the YMCA of the North Shore to teach kids ages 8 to 14 how to eat a healthier diet and increase daily physical activity. In this FREE program participants will learn how to make healthy food choices, bring home recipes and ideas to their families to continue healthy lifestyle habits at home, and find ways to get moving throughout the day. The goal is for both kids and their families to be FIT-tastic together. FIT-tastic Kids offers flexible scheduling for each family to begin at any time. An 8-week Y youth membership is included when participating in this program. FIT-tastic Kids is free for participants and their families because of the generosity of donors and grantors. Fee: Y Member Free Community Free Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
