On May 27, 2019, we lost our dear friend and Executive Director, Ted Wenta. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, it was time for Ted’s journey to heaven. The staff here at the Everett Family YMCA continue to grieve the loss of our friend, particularly as our new building nears completion, and as we celebrate our 33rd Annual Auction. Ted loved the auction – it was by far his favorite “friend-raising” event of the year, where he could watch so many groups of people from our community come together through committee planning, donations, and attendance. Here at the Y, we will definitely miss Ted’s infamous auction clap and cheer, loud enough to echo throughout the entire building as he pumped up his tired staff team with his energy and support. Ted also was like a kid in a candy store – each year his favorite part of procuring was picking out what sports memorabilia was going to be a hot item. But, what Ted loved most about the auction was the feeling of people, community and relationships as the Live Auction occurred, feeling humbled by a room filled with people who just proved that they were just as passionate about the work of the YMCA in the community as he was. “Tonight, you will learn that when you give to the YMCA, you really are giving back to our community. You’re giving to support healthy and productive individuals and families, to expand access to early learning, to close the achievement gap among students of color and to provide access and inclusion for all members of our community. As a result, people are more connected, youth are more engaged and everyone is provided the opportunity to better themselves emotionally, spiritually, socially and physically.” Ted, you are missed by us, every day. Every day we strive to carry out your vision and to make you proud – and we hope that tonight we do just that.

Save Time with QuickCheck No need to stand in line at the end of the auction to pay for your purchases when you use QuickCheck. With the QuickCheck system you will receive your paid receipts the week following the auction. At any point in the evening, you are also welcome to visit the check-out desk to see what you have bid on and how much. In addition, there is no need to wait in the cashier line at the end of the auction! Here is all you do: 1. At registration swipe your credit card to store the number in our database. These are kept securely in our database with no access to the full account number. 2. Ensure we have current contact information (either an email or mailing address are required) so that we can mail your receipt the week after the auction. That’s all there is to it! At the conclusion of the evening, just retrieve your items from the tables, and get any certificate items from the cashier. You will get a copy of your credit card receipt a few days after the auction. So sit back and enjoy the evening without worrying about the cashiering line.

Bright Futures Auction Procedures 1. Upon entering, each couple/individual will be given a bid card. To bid in the silent auction, simply write your bid number CLEARLY on the bid form. 2. To bid in the live auction, hold your bid card up high, with the number toward the auctioneer. A bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. As well, in the silent auction, designation of the bid you have written, as the top bidder, is a legal contract to purchase the item. 3. All purchases are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds on items unless otherwise noted. All goods and services must be claimed/redeemed within one year of the auction, unless otherwise stated. 4. In the event of a dispute regarding the sale price or winning bidder in the live or silent auction, the decision of the auctioneer shall be final. 5. We will gladly accept your payment by currency, check or credit card. Please make checks payable to the Everett YMCA. The YMCA of Snohomish County is a Non-Profit Corp. 501(c)3 and your payments are tax deductible only to the extent provided by law. Our Tax Id # is 91-0565561. 6. $1,000 Provides five youth and their families the opportunity to participate in the ACT Youth Obesity Program, focusing on nutrition, activity, and self-improvement.
$500 Provides funding for the Pedaling for Parkinson’s Program along with free facility access for participants.
$250 Provides a scholarship for the LIVESTRONG Program to support cancer survivors.
