2017 ANNUAL REPORT YMCA OF SNOHOMISH COUNTY
DEAR FRIENDS At the Y, strengthening communities is our cause, and we are committed to helping people reach their full potential. Our focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility allows us to change lives while addressing critical community needs. We’d like to personally thank our members, donors, and volunteers for making our work possible. Some highlights from 2017 that you made possible include: • Our Stanwood-Camano YMCA celebrated its one year anniversary, and is becoming our largest membership branch – serving more than 8,000 individuals. • Fundraising for the new Everett Family YMCA is soaring past early expectations, and a community groundbreaking celebration is scheduled for June 9, 2018. • The YMCA of Snohomish County was selected as one of 12 YMCAs in the nation to participate as a New American Welcome Center. With more than 42 million foreign-born individuals living in the United States, it is more important than ever to foster an environment where programs and services are accessible and supportive for all. • Our Board of Trustees adopted a new three-year strategic plan that will guide us through 2020. The Y continues to be a leader, both locally and nationally in improving the health and well-being of our community. Our investments in Capital Development, Membership, and Diversity and Inclusion enable us to serve many more people in our community than ever before. These investments help them make lasting, positive change regardless of age, health, gender, or socioeconomic status. Engaging and supporting all segments of society comes naturally to us, as a global organization with an inclusive mission and enduring core values. Whether you are new to this country or have lived here your entire life, our Ys want to help you reach your full potential. This always has been, and always will be, an essential part of our promise to people and communities. This is an exciting time for the YMCA of Snohomish County. Our work together gives us much to be proud of and many new opportunities to explore. With this report, we invite you to learn more of the many ways in which our work builds a stronger, healthier community. The Y.™ For a better us.

YMCA of Snohomish County - TOTALS
*CRT - Chair’s Round Table members contributing $1,000 or more annually.
During 2017, $2.36 million was provided in direct financial assistance to 10,259 individuals. In addition, through the generosity of our donors, members, and specific program grants, we were able to provide subsidized programs and services to thousands of kids, youth, and families who would not otherwise be able to participate, thus extending opportunities and increasing access to YMCA asset-building programs in extraordinary ways.
MY Y STORY Suzanne is pedaling for her life My journey with Parkinson’s began with diagnosis in 2010. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive, degenerative, neurological disease with no cure. I took the prescribed medications and for five years I felt like I was a passenger, going along for the Parkinson’s ride. In 2015 everything changed. My symptoms were stronger and medications no longer provided relief. It was a wake-up call that showed me how strong my opponent was. I could not afford to be a passenger any longer. I needed to become my own advocate in fighting this disease. In May 2017 the Marysville YMCA launched a Pedaling for Parkinson’s class. Understanding that many people with Parkinson’s cannot afford the additional expense of classes, they provide the class at no cost to participants. The Pedaling for Parkinson’s class provides a place of community where we can share our ups and downs with those who truly understand what we are experiencing. Together we become stronger in spirit, mind, and body.
2017 CHAIR’S ROUND TABLE MEMBERS The YMCA of Snohomish County is grateful for the individuals, families, and businesses whose pledges to the Annual Campaign make our work with young people possible.
