Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County
ALL TOGETHER STRONGER COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FOR
A NEW EVERETT FAMILY YMCA SERVING EVERETT FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL: The new Everett YMCA will be a vibrant hub for engagement and inclusion that unites our community and transforms lives. OUR HISTORY The YMCA has been a cornerstone in the Everett community since 1901. Rebounding after the fire of 1920, and undergoing two major additions in 1960 and 1980, the Everett YMCA has continued to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has the opportunity to live life to the fullest.
THE TIME IS NOW As your YMCA and the greater Everett community have evolved over the decades, the need for facility replacement to more effectively achieve your YMCA’s mission is evident, including the demand to improve accessibility and program delivery. Supporting your YMCA has never been more important. The new Everett YMCA will serve thousands of youth, families, and adults, making Everett a better place to live for everyone. It will replace the current facility built in 1920, the oldest YMCA among the six Snohomish County Ys.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS • Multi-story, 60,000 square-foot facility • State-of-the-art aquatic center with a Lazy River, lap pool & warm water therapy pool • Full-size gym for youth, adults, and families to enjoy • Wellness and group exercise spaces, and an indoor track • Drop-in child care while you workout • Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Center • Healthcare Program Partner
Building a stronger community The new Everett YMCA will be a state-of-the-art, multigenerational hub for the entire community. A warm and welcoming environment, it will become the community center to enhance healthy lives and strengthen our community for generations of children, youth, adults, seniors, and families. The old Everett YMCA supported the community the past 100 years; this new Everett YMCA will take us into the next 100.
BY INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF YOUR Y, YOU WILL: Connect a broader community to the lasting impact of mentoring. A new Y will provide a permanent mentoring center for Big Brothers Big Sisters and an enriching and nurturing environment for youth. Through these programs, we provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported relationships that change lives forever.
Give all people, regardless of income, access to swim lessons and water safety skills in a city surrounded by water. Teaching children, teens, and adults how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity. A larger aquatics center will allow us to increase programming and access to this important life skill for people of all ages.
Empower youth to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds, strengthening their potential to become happy, healthy adults. The new Y will include comfortable, flexible gathering spaces for academic support and mentoring. The environment will make it easier for youth to create connections with peers and positive adult role models.
Remove barriers to access for people with physical challenges or diverse abilities. Everyone is valued at the Y and at the new, intentionally designed facility, everyone will feel welcome. The new space will have elevator access, wider hallways, and a safe and inclusive design.
Provide a place for all generations to come together in health and wellness and encourage each other in their shared pursuit of healthy living. A larger YMCA means an increase in healthy living program offerings and a place for all generations to come together and connect in the spirit of community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Snohomish County
has been active in the local community since 1987, matching caring adult volunteer mentors with young people.
OUR MISSION
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported oneto-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
WHO WE SERVE Of the children and youth we serve annually: • 69% receive free and reduced lunch • 75% live in non-two-parent households • 55% are children of color • 25% have an incarcerated parent • Several live in foster care • Many are struggling in school
MENTORING WORKS Research shows that those adults who were former Littles were more likely to: • Earn an undergraduate degree • Have a household income of $75,000 ore more • Donate and volunteer in their community • Express great work satisfaction
In Snohomish County, our Little Brothers and Little Sisters are having great success. Of these children and youth, we know that:
• 95% maintained or improved their feeling that they are accepted socially and have friends
• 93% report having high educational expectations • 93% maintained or improved their belief that
smoking, drinking, and doing drugs is risky behavior • 100% feel that they have a special adult in their life who they can confide in
The Y is where community happens.
Help make it all possible
Our new Y will give seniors places to gather and socialize, families the support and resources to come together to play and connect, and young people safe spaces with positive mentors to help them reach their potential.
Construction is beginning soon on the new Everett YMCA and we need your help to finish the job. One hundred percent of all donations will be used to fund project costs.
It’s a place where neighbors can connect, learn, and be inspired by each other. A place where community happens.
The Need is now • A SAFE PLACE FOR OUR YOUTH: Our current facility does not encourage interactions between people of all ages and backgrounds. The new YMCA will provide a safe place with caring adults and positive activities. • OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL: The Y is available to all in the community, regardless of ability to pay. • SUPPORT FOR ALL ABILITIES: People with diverse abilities and physical challenges struggle to navigate the current building. The new YMCA will remove barriers to access making everyone feel welcome. • A LASTING LEGACY: At the new YMCA, healthy generations will connect and be a force for better health and wellness that radiates across the county.
