We make a living by what we get. But we make a life by what we give. -Winston Churchill IMPACTING TOMORROW Life is a journey, each of us on a distinct path. Our legacies speak for us - sharing our traditions, our beliefs, and our accomplishments. For many, a portion of their lifetime success is defined by their connection with the principles and practices of the YMCA.

WHY I

GIVE

Since 1901, in timely and innovative ways, the YMCA of Snohomish County has served our community, addressing our area’s most pressing needs. The YMCA continues to impact lives, and with your help, the YMCA always will. When contemplating the pathway that will lead to your personal legacy, you can feel confident that a contribution to the YMCA will be a gift of a lifetime - building stronger communities today and in the future. Many friends of the YMCA choose to help extend the Y’s influence beyond their own lifetimes by sharing some of the assets they have accumulated through making gifts to the Y’s permanent endowment fund. THE YMCA HERITAGE CLUB The YMCA celebrates its Heritage Club members, a very special group of people who choose to have a lasting impact on the YMCA of Snohomish County by generously making or planning future gifts to the YMCA’s Endowment Fund. The Heritage Club meets annually to enjoy the fellowship of new and old friends of the Y, find inspiration in the YMCA’s work, and receive updates on programs supported through the Fund.

Gifts can be made in any of the following ways: • • • • • •

An outright gift of cash or appreciated assets Bequest, by including the Y in your estate plan Charitable gift annuity Charitable trust Retirement asset Life insurance

WHY I

GIVE

Members can direct gifts to support the overall work of the YMCA, or designate funds to support a specific program area and/or branch. KELLY SHEPHERD

HERB & ROBIN FOX

I chose to support the YMCA Endowment Fund because of the ability to have an impact in our community for many years to come. The Endowment Fund provides an opportunity to continue to be a positive influence in our community for my lifetime and beyond.

We know that it’s contributions to the Y that keep the doors open for those less fortunate who otherwise may not be able to participate.

I want to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to be part of the YMCA. I believe in the work that is being done and the lives being changed. The Y is so much more than a gym. It is a community and a family that is accepting and welcoming to all. We all unite for a better self, a better us, and a better community.

Endowment gifts share a vision for the future and can sustain youth programs, family programs, and community programs.

GIVING IS AS INDIVIDUAL AS YOU The determination to make a charitable gift is an expression of cherished values and priorities. The YMCA recognizes that no two donors and no two gifts are alike in their aspirations and motivations.

My hope for the Endowment Fund is to provide resources that allow the organization to continue to provide missiondriven opportunities based on community need that positively impact individuals, families, and our community.

The Y’s mission of supporting healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility includes key causes which will need to continue to be supported into the future.

Since 2000, the Endowment Fund has contributed $1,357,592 to support youth and family programs. CREATE A LASTING LEGACY Your investment in the Endowment Fund will ensure that young people throughout our community can continue to participate in life-changing YMCA programs and activities such as child care, youth sports, teen programs, and mentoring. We invite you to join us. ENSURE THE Y FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS For additional information on making a gift to the Endowment Fund and joining the Heritage Club, please contact the YMCA of Snohomish County Financial Development Department at 425 374 5745.

In choosing to make a pledge to the YMCA’s Endowment Fund, we saw an opportunity to be comfortable in leaving a financial legacy to the Y without having to dip into liquid assets during our lifetime. It is particularly heartwarming to give back and to know that our gift will be combined with those of many other friends of the Y to provide a consistent stream of funds to support future Y programs.
