A MESSAGE FROM THE BRANCH EXECUTIVE Welcome to the Mill Creek YMCA. Spring has arrived and we are getting ready for another great summer of camps and fun at the YMCA. It is so heartwarming to walk into the Y and see the seniors interacting, the child care staff engaged with the children, and the wellness classes as full as ever. The Y serves so many people from every age and ability, from those with the ability to pay and those who are sponsored. We make such a difference in the community and provide a sense of belonging to all we serve. We just wrapped up another successful Annual Campaign. The Annual Campaign is about being able to say “Yes”. Our goal is never to turn anyone away because of their inability to pay. This year, our community raised over $128,000 for our Annual Campaign. Thank you to our YMCA members, local businesses, and community members for donating generously. Our hope is to not just raise money for scholarship dollars, but also to tell our story to the community. We make such an impact through what we do:

 30% of our child care participants are receiving some  

 

form of financial assistance. The Mill Creek Y swim team hosted their very first home swim meet. We are offering SilverSneaker® programs, and this year we have added the Silver and Fit program, which has allowed us to reach out to even more seniors through their health care provider. We are serving over 20 people through our Pedaling for Parkinson’s program, the first of its kind in the County. 1600 kids will learn new skills and make new friends in YMCA youth sport programs this year.

We are one of the largest charities in the country and, without the support of our community, we could not have such an important impact on those who live here. Thank you for all you do - your efforts change lives every day! - Kyla Smith, Branch Executive Director

Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. Activities on a typical day includes: Before School  Free-Choice/Open Centers  Morning Snack  Interest Centers  Active Play

After School  Free-Choice/Open Centers  Afternoon Snack  Group Time  30-Minute Outdoor Time; weather permitting  Homework Help  Projects and Activities  Active Play

Anyone can benefit from the wide variety of aquatic classes available. Check out our current Class Schedule for class times and descriptions.

As a group we plan, plant, build, and grow veggies through most seasons. We work as a team; everyone plays a role to help our garden grow! Most of our labor is done in March and then again in the fall. If you are curious about this great group the best time to get involved is over the winter during our planning process. However, you are welcome to go for a walk and see what’s going on. Please remember to close the gate as it helps to keep the bunnies out.
